Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Thanks. Yeah, at first I was going to go and just try to ignore the offenders, but then remembered that these aren't "normal" people- they are a bit aggressive and will just walk up and tell me exactly what they're thinking. When I heard they were already gossiping about my going, a red flag went up for me. I don't want to expose Sienna to any possible conflicts. The reunion is in town, but the family I want to see are all coming from out of town and this is on Easter weekend, so it might be difficult to see them at a separate time.

My first instinct was to tell you to go...but then I read this. Do you really want to subject that sweet Marigny to ignorant people? I would hate for her to overhear something mean about you or her daddy. They are such little sponges at this age.

Here's a  for even having to think of making this choice.

Thanks for the support y'all-

I think there may be a solution to my dilemna! I emailed my cousin back and told her how I felt, and she replied that she is hosting a separate dinner for the out-of-towners and isn't inviting my immediate family to that (she doesn't care for them much either- says they think they're too good for everyone else :rotfl: ), so she offered me an invitation to attend that if it would help.

I'm still not 100% decided on not attending the big reunion. A part of me also wants to bring DD to show her off. If my union with DH was so bad, then why would we be blessed with a beautiful child? For being such religious people, they sure are narrow-minded...

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out!

Morning everyone. Today is my birthday; I am the big 37! :dance3:

It will be much colder by the end of the day today. So bundle up!

Have a good day.

Morning Y'all,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRY!!!!!

I hope you have a great day!

Lorie, What a dilemma! I'm glad your cuz will have a smaller gathering you'll feel comfortable attending. My 1st instict was don't go. If just hearing you might be coming, got them wagging their tongues, they'd probably go into high gear as the reunion gets closer. If it was me, the long term stress & anxiety I would feel, just wouldn't be worth it. I would also be worried about subjecting Sienna to that kind of atmosphere & their extreme narrow-mindedness. Sorry you're dealing with this, it's very sad. :sad1: :grouphug:

Lorie, How's Siennas room coming along? Did y'all start painting?

Kathy, Lauren looked into DVC rental for you? Going on the weekend would make the DVC rental more costly. It's averages 11- 12 pts per night during the week, but Fri & Sat. jump to 21-24 pts. So if you rented someone's points at say $11 a pt, weekend nights would cost $231, but Mon- Thurs nights would only be $132. Still a good deal, IMO, but it does take some legwork & time for the DVC'er & the renter.

Has anyone looked into any of these closet organization system? Man are those expensive! Even buying them at HD & installing them yourself is ridicously priced! I'm about ready to give up on the idea & just go purchase lots of clear boxes & shoe racks.

Have a good day everyone!

Well, since you mention it, it is going quite well! It is all cleaned up, painted, and the bed is set up! DH took a stab at fixing the bed himself, and he did good! I decided to refinish the bed since it was looking pretty drab and it came out beautifully! The mattress was delivered last week, so I'm just waiting on the sheets and bedspread to come in on Thursday. All but one set of curtains are hung, and the window hardware came in yesterday. DH set up a little TV in there for her and I moved in her little table and chair set. Sienna LOVES her new room- she plays in there all of the time since we finished painting. She can pretty much move in there now, but I'm the one holding back, I think. She's going to be all the way down the hall :guilty: - I think I've got separation issues! :lmao:

I going to post pictures as soon as we're finished setting it up! So far I've gotten lots of compliments because it really looks so much better in there. It was a huge project, but so worth it in the end!

I hope you have a great day. My sister's birthday was yesterday.

Lorie good luck with your decision making. That's a tough one. I don't like drama so my instinct was not to go. On the other hand if the tongue wagers of the family would get one good like at how precious Sienna is they may have a change of heart and realize just what they are missing out on.

Lorie - I remember this feeling. DD's room is on the other side of the house as well so it took her and especially me a long time to get used to it!:goodvibes

Lorie, I can't wait to see pics of her room! She's going to love it, & will have a much easier time moving into her big girl room than you will have with it. It's hard but I think her age is the best time to make that move. The more she is able to voice her opinions the tougher it gets!

I've needed to go to the grocery since yesterday but am feeling quite nervous about it. I need to get myself in gear, because I just don't think I can go to Laborie's where that poor woman was killed. I'll have to go further just to avoid that. I know that's not the right thing to do but I'm really freaked out about it. Our priest was on the news last night, saying how we need to pull together & take back our neighborhood. But that's easier said than done, isn't it?

Yes it is. I wouldn't be able to go there either.

Howdy NOLA! I'm headed your way in a couple of hours. See ya real soon! :cool1:

Good morning. I am sorry I haven't been on the boards in a long time. I've been feeling really under the weather. I am on my second round of antibiotics, so I hope this does the trick.

I've missed "talking" to ya'll, and I'll have to go back and catch up. In the meantime, I hope everyone has a great day:)

Hi Mary! Good to see you! I was just thinking about you yesterday, hoping you were ok. Sorry you haven't been well. It took us a week and a half to finally rid the flu from this house- nasty business. Hope you feel better soon!

Morning Y'all,

Mary, Sorry you've been so sick! Hope this round of antibiotics does the trick! :wizard:

Man it sure is cold outside but at least it's pretty.

Lucas, Hope you had a safe trip! and WELCOME HOME! :goodvibes

I did force myself to go to that grocery store yesterday. I had to park on the opposite side of the building though, it was just weird.

Kathy, I know you've checked out Brenda's food review on PFTS. She did a great job of explaining how it all works & showing the great food. So you can see why I recommend it, all that amazing food!

Have a great day!

Ugh I am so fed up with my neighborhood. Yesterday was thesecond time in the last few months that someone's dog found refuge on my porch. Both were pitbulls and obviously someone's pet, in yesterday's case it belonged to my neighbor. Both were in need of a vet  My next door neighbor keeps two pits in her backyard, each on a very short chain on either side of her yard. The one on our side is constantly whining.
I have called animal control, but by the time they get out here either the dog has wandered off or someone else picked them up.

Sorry for the vent, I just hate to see dogs like this.
