Anyone here have a Disney VISA? I've been having some issues with my credit card company and was just wondering what the advantages and/or disadvantages of having a Disney card are.

Hey Kathy, I got one back in Sept. and so far i really like it. i use it like a debit card in that i charge my groceries and whatnots to it then pay it off each paycheck. It has 0% interest for a year but then the interest charge goes up to like 20% fro what i understand and we have excellent credit. Just in that little bit of time i had $84 disney dollars to spend on my trip just past. i used it on Pal Mickey- a frivolent purchase, but one i have been wanting to try since 3 trips ago- plus breakfast in the food court for my family. (I have an AP so i had a discount on Pal Mickey and the food.)
We did have a balance on it before the trip, but paid it off. Now the hot water heater is on it-but only for the points-we have the cash in an account that will be paid when DH gets back from the Waldorf Astoria ( no hard feelings there!!)-okay, um, New York.
I plan on using it the same way until we go on our next trip to Disney. I don't think i will get this many before a next trip(we'll see)but I think the max is $700 that you can have in Disney reward dollars/points. That is a LOT toward a vacation! That would have paid our hotel plus some on this last trip! Or our food! Well, anyway, I am looking foward to getting to WDW again. Hopefully b/t rewards points , DH's hotel point and airmiles, we get get back sooner than expected. We WERE going to do Washington DC next, but we will wait until DD8 can appreciate the history. That means another Disney trip before that!! Hopefully.

Hope it helps. On another note- DH resisted about the Disney visa b/c of the interest fees being so high. In fact he resisted for years until i told him my plan and after a few years with no CC debt(never a LOT but painfully enough)

Thanks Lori. I'm guessing since I'd be transferring a balance of around $6000 I'd get the high interest rate right away. I'll have to do some research on it.

Kathy, I got a Disney Visa last year and I like it so far. What I liked about it was that you can book WDW packages and anything else inside of WDW (room charges, etc) and have zero interest for 6 months. You also get advance notice before the general public for discount codes, but this may not be much use to you if you have DVC. I also accumulated enough Disney reward dollars to get some nice Disney Christmas decorations. My interest rate for everything non-Disney is 13.25%. I guess the perks depend on what deals they are running at the time you sign up, but I like 0% Disney interest part- this has become our "vacation Visa".

I really like the 0% Disney stuff rate, that would come in very handy. Thanks Lorie, it's on my list of things to do when I get back from Houston.

Morning everyone! Heard something interesting on the radio this a.m. Apparently this season's flu has moved from North LA down to our area & is on a rampage. To make matters worse, the CDC & other powers that be guessed incorrectly so the flu shot that was offered isn't effective against this particular strain of flu! Now wonder everyone is feeling crummy! I haven't heard of it hitting any BR area schools particularly hard just yet, but I do know of a school in MS that was closed because so many kids were out.

No, not specifically. Just that the southern part of the state is seeing more cases. Also a friend of mine that works for the archdiocese said the schools are seeing record numbers of kids out of school as of last week.

I was on the phone with WDW this morning and was looking for prices for September. There is an AP code that allows APholders to book a room only and get the dining plan for everyone staying in that rom!! Then, on top of that the guy tells me to keep my eyes open for possible "other" specials happening. I mentioned free dining and he said, 'yeah' that was what he was 'getting at'. We could possibly go to WDW in September for 5 nights for right at $1000-food tickets, everything!! Wow!! We had 10 wonderful days there already, but this is VERY enticing ain't it. i probably posted on the wrong thread but thought I'd let my local friends know about it first.

I think he said the code is ADS. I asked him and he said it really quick. I got an AP last time b/c of the length of our trip and the DDE. Free dining is the only way I'd try it out.

Terry- My DH's nephew was sent home from school one day this week because all but 3 students were out sick, so they had to cancel class! He lives in Gretna, but I'm not sure which school he goes to- I'd say the flu is definitely hitting the Westbank pretty hard!
