Happy Birthday Erica!!!!

Sorry about the driving test. I was lucky (or as my mom says she was unlucky) that I took my drivers test at school in drivers ed. When I had a piece of paper saying that I could redeem for a license, I had never driven faster than 15 MPH! What was the normal speed limits around town? 45 and 50 MPH. The first time I actually drove around town, I was surprised at how fast those trees were flying by. My parents were good about it though, I was allowed to drive to Winn Dixie and back, for a grand total of 1/4 a mile for years after.

I'm sorry too about Erica's driving test. Since we're sharing stories: I never took driver's ed. On the day that my mom was taking me to get my license, I was had to ask her if I was supposed to drive on the right or left side of the road.
Note, we were in the car when I asked the question. Just goes to show they let anyone in the National Honor Society.
Oh I passed the test and the instructor told me that I was one of the best drivers he ever encountered during the driving test.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Erica. Ya'll will appreciate this: she wants a Disney princess themed birthday. Its just family coming over today and 4 friends she's had since she was 4 years old. She's got Princess Tiana cups, a cake with Ariel on it and I bought her a huge tiara balloon. I know she's 16, but I love how she still loves her princesses.

I enjoyed reading the drivers license stories.

hello all. I am counting down the days for this week to be over because next week is Spring Break! I know it is sad because I just made sure that this coming week will be the longest week ever.

I tried to enjoy the cooler weather because after a few warm days, who knows how long it will be before I see it again. I just hope that next year isn't nearly as cold for as long. My gas bill was a killer.

Morning everybody! What happened to Spring?? Guess we'll have to wait a couple more days.

Rie's mom- Last year's GF menu had to be changed because crawfish prices were still too high. Crawfish stew & boiled crabs....hmm...I might have to get lost on the way to DSis's house if DH has the day off !

Lorie - So, DH works for cake? Well, if I could get paid in German Chocolate or Red Velvet or Carrot (heck, any flavor would do!), it might not be so bad! Of course, if they'd make me give my same %age to the Feds that they're asking for on my latest tax returns, I don't think I'd be as cooperative.

I'm sooooo disgusted with taxes this year. I ran the numbers about a month ago, and I shoved the papers in a corner once I saw the results. Let's just say I'm not enthralled with the whole "Making Work Pay" program. I do need to sit down & finish State & just make it go away.

Happy Birthday to the Dis Princesses! Flora, such a sweet story about DD still wanting to celebrate like a girl. Fingers crossed for her next DMV trip.

Morning all! This weather plain sucks. I so tired of the cold!

Hugs to all with tax issues. This is the first year in a while where we only have to pay a small amount, and that will be covered because we are getting money back from the state. Go figure. I can't tell you the last time I got money back from the state.

Fo all those interested in strawberries, I say wait a few weeks. They are expensive ($3.00 a pint) and while sweet, they don't have much strawberry flavor. I think a little more ripening needs to be done.

Mary - a happy belated birthday to Erica. We threw a princess party (cake, balloons, party favors, etc.) for a niece that we reconnected with a few years back - it was her 23rd birthday! We had missed so many, that we figured we could get away with it! She loved it, by the way.

Paul says he is 'burying my(his) head in the sand' about the taxes b/c i keep telling him to find out from HR. and he hasn't yet! It is very confusing. The bank says they will pay the taxes on the money and now we have to pay again- it doesn't make sense to me....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I think it is wrong, he is scared it is right.
We'll get back a little from Uncle Sam and owe more to Louisiana. Taxes should be easier next year since we'll not have to worry about state taxes!- well, except a months worth.
We're waiting to file La taxes for when we come home, b/c we are not trusting the Florida tax people who never fool with that-hoping THEY are wrong!

My dad does our taxes and we only owe 1/2 of what we paid last year! Of course, this year, we're selling property on the River in New Orleans, so next year won't be pretty. God gives with one hand and Uncle Sam takes with the other!

Hey y'all!

I'm in a funk because of the little cold snap we're having (hey winter, you are no longer welcome around here!) and because of the constant waiting game I feel I'm in all of the time....waiting for the gifted testing results, waiting for the official "no" letter from Audubon (she was almost last in the lottery, so I know it would take a miracle to get in...), waiting for Erik's constant teething and crying to end , and finally WAITING FOR VACATION TO GET HERE!!! Bad case of the blahs today....

Happy belated birthday to Erica! Love the princess birthday party! Sorry about the driving test too! There was no way I should have passed my driving test because I made lots of bad mistakes (turning left when he said right ), but he passed me because he felt "sorry for me"....

hey all! I was out of town at a retreat for youths this weekend - had a blast!

The dr's office called to make an appt for me to get the gifted testing results- I have to go into the office to get them, and not until Thursday! Ugh! Don't they know I'm going crazy over here? I'm tempted to call and say I can't make it on Thursday and can't they just tell me over the phone?

I am confused why the doctor has anything to do with gifted testing results. Isn't that through an educational thing. I hope it all goes well. It's a blessing if she is gifted in something! Makes your life a little easier to breathe in certain ways.
