Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

:rotfl2: Sorry, I couldn't help it. I think the brand most people I know who have inground pools use is called a Polaris. They don't require you to get in the pool (algea scrubbing on the other hand does) you just pull on the hose and program it. I don't let kids swim while it is in the pool however for safety sake. Tanglement issues as they are fun to play with and race with but don't ask how I know that. Hope this helps some.

I saw those and NO I wouldn't let the kids in the pool- looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Thanks for the NAME though:rotfl:

darn, well I guess I need a BIG brush too! Cuz I ain't getting in yet! it's too cold!

Thanks to all of you for all the thoughts and congrats! we are excited.

I think I feel like painting......... and cleaning!

Lori

Good morning:)

Lori, Cara is right about the Polaris. That's what we have. We are very careful to take it out of the pool if we have extra kids over, because its easily breakable.

Serena, "Grawsome" is Alexis' word, a combination of great and awesome!! I think its adorable:cutie:

Lorie, hope you and Erik feel better. Did you try mucinex?

I am off to the dentist in a little while to get my chipped tooth fixed--woohoo!! Big fun today:thumbsup2 I hate going to the dentist--he's a nice guy, but I am secretly terrified of going there.

Kathy, how's your tooth feeling today?

Terry - how exciting to be starting a new job. I hope it all goes well for you.

Sheryl - glad you guys had fun - nice pictures! BLT sure looks nice. I might want to try it out.

Kat - I hope you are feeling better this morning.

Mary - good luck at the dentist.

Lori - I know I'd want to get that house cleaned up as quick as possible. Paint now before you have to deal with furniture being in the way - much easier!!

Lorie - hope you and Erik are feeling better

Hey y'all,

Mary, So sorry about the tooth! Good luck!

Kathy, Are you feeling any better?

Cara & Lorie, Thanks for the info on Universal! We really have just assumed it wasn't WC friendly.

Lori, We use a Kreepy Krauly Vacuum for our pool. It works great! We buy most of our pool supplies online. Here is the vac & the online store we use:

http://www.intheswim.com/Pool-Equip...Cleaners/Kreepy-KraulyAutomatic-Pool-Cleaner/

We've had our pool since before Angelina was born. We've tried quite a few different vacs & this one has been the best for us.

Lori, Good luck with all the cleaning & painting! When you get the kids trained well doing this, they can come spend some time at my house! ;)

I'm glad everyone liked the pics. I finally have them loaded on FB. I do still need to organize them & add some captions.

2 months and 2 days til we go to Disney for school YES program :) Rie's mom - let me know where you are going to be...I see you are going to be there too!

hope goes well Mary :)

my birthday is in a few weeks.have court on 3/5...anyone want to get together and just hang out with me on 3/6?

Hi...just checking in! I feel like I haven't been around much. I've been busy lately, but in a good way. :thumbsup2

Yesterday after work I went to the park and walked/ran 4 miles, then today after work, I went down to the Quarter with a friend. I am ready for the weekend and it's only Tuesday!

:grouphug: to everyone!

Woohoo!:cool1: 4 miles?! That's great! As I told Bob I can only manage serious walking in DisneyWorld!

Thanks Sheryl! I am going to bring the water into this pool place tomorrow and see what we need to do.

We got some pendant lights and used the light fixtures that were in thier spots for the areas that had no light fixtures. So now the whole house has light fixtures-woohoo:laughing: We'll put pretty ones up as we find what we want.

Next is washer/dryer, pool vac, and floors. Then we are done for a bit- besides painting.

On another note- we weren't looking, but my brother called to tell us his friend is selling his car- it is a Maxima, in great condition. My brother thought of us. Paul's car is getting way up there in mileage and we were hoping to get to next year with it. But it is a really good price. it's really hard to think of buying a car when you just signed your life away to a house. Even if is is a good deal. Don't laugh but my hubby has a 97 Camry with 179,000 on it. It runs really well but is just starting to fall apart(window won't go up, so we just don't roll it down:laughing: and couple other things we've had to fix up). You can't go wrong with toyota- unless of course, your accelerator is sticking! it still has life left in it, which makes us hesitate. (We ride our cars till they are close to natural death;)). I had my car from highschool till I was 30. hey, it ran great! It was a toyota too. We may have to say no to it and pray the car lasts us one more year and that something else as well comes our way.
We LOVE not having a note- but those days may soon to be over.

Kristina- woohoo! another friend of mine will be there at the same time you are- her daughter is going with her schools honor society.

Popping in to say hi! It sure has been quiet here lately.

Kristina - I wish I could join you but we have plans already. But I'm sure you'll get some of this group to celebrate with you! Have fun!

Lori - make sure to take before and after pictures!! And share them with us!

I haven't done any walking in a while. But like Sheryl, I get to WDW and I seem to be in great shape!!:rotfl:

Hey y'all,

It sure is quiet around here today.

Is everyone as sick of this cold weather as I am?

Lori, Sounds like you have gotten a lot done!

Lauri, Yes there just isn't anything fun waiting for me at the end of a walk around the neighborhood or on the treadmill! :confused3:laughing:

Hello...checking in real quick to show what visited our school today...

Me on the right...

Sinderelli! WOW!!! :faint: :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

That is AWESOME!!

I know- I'm still shaking :lmao: I have great videos, but it has the kids in it, so can't post them. Amazing moment! One of our parents is the director of youth activities for the Saints (and another parent is Gumbo!!!)

Sinderelli, that is amazing!

Just a quick run by. This is a crazy week. Tomorrow, Logan has his crossing over ceremony and will officially become a boy scout. He is going camping over the weekend in Belle Chasse. I packed him TWO more pairs of gloves so hopefully he doesn't lose them as he still can't completely straighten his fingers from the last cold weather outing last month. They are coming along, though slowly.

Logan had his appointment with the allergist, and aside from dustmites, they couldn't find anything. However, they officially said he had three anaphylactic episodes from an unknown cause and prescribed him an epipen.

Lori, how is the painting going?

Kristina, have fun on your trip!

Sheryl, glad to help you with the Universal info. I would hate for you to miss out on a great park because you think you have too. However, if you don't want to go, I could understand that too.

Lori, if you take good care of your polaris, they can last forever. I asked my grandparents about theirs and it is original to the pool which was built in 1981. It was brought in for minor repairs once in all that time.

Bethany, you sound like a whirlwind you are so busy. Glad to see you are enjoying NOLA life

Kim- very cool! What a great memory:goodvibes

Oh Lordy ya'll, well we're probably not getting the car.

FHA is a PITA now....it wasn't like that when we purchased our first home.

It had the best rate, so that's why we used them. The paperwork is gone and signed and they are wanting to make sure we haven't run out and charged up any CC's before the file them away. We CLOSED ,people, it is done. No we haven't run up any CC's (we actually have none, any more), but now we are nervous about getting appliances, b/c we are gonna have to do the 12 mos same as cash thing and pay it off when we got our taxes back in a month or so. What are they gonna do- take the house away before we even pay a payment? I can gladly say we have really good credit- we've paid all of our bills, on time, forever. They know this!:headache:

It made me feel better that my DB, who just bought a car, told me that the loan people called him a week after they bought it to confirm employment and that they needed to resubmit thier employers numbers.

I guess it was too easy to buy a house and a car a few years back and now they are making it very scary and hard- like someone is looking over your shoulder.

As excited as we are about having the house finally, I am really having home withdrawals:guilty:. I think it was the comfort level. This house is so much more than we have ever handled and I am just nervous about it. Not the price of the house(we got a steal!)- the pool, the landscaping, the sprinkler system, an HOA, being so FAR from my daddy:guilty:.
Makes me wanna curl up on the sofa at home and go to sleep. Or at least be in the comfort of my MIL's home. I REALLY wish I had gotten some antidepressants from the doc- gotta get back on my composure stuff, I guess.

We are pooped- we picked out paint, got samples on the wall and painted DD12's room today. We also had 3 flooring companies come over to estimate and measure the kids floors. DH is trying to work without taking off-he wants to be off next week when our stuff comes.
We had some pendant lights put up yesterday and started an AC/heating contract. It hasn't been lived in for 2 years and it is a 10 year old home.

Next is pool guy and washer/dryer.

Lori

sorry for venting, I just am a bit down and I feel I should be too excited

Cara - Congrats to Logan!

Lori - I think you are just overwhelmed my friend. Yes, you should be excited but you are handling a lot more than you are accustomed to. Hang in there.

Morning Y'all,

Kim, That is GRAWSOME!!! You got to hold the trophy! I'd have been shaking too. Lindsay gets more adorable with every new pic!:cutie:

Lori, Aww my friend, I'm sorry you are feeling sad!:hug: I wish I had some wise words to make you feel all better. It's no wonder you're feeling overwhelmed with everything you're doing plus the stupid FHA! That makes me mad! I think once you get into the house, get all of your own stuff, you will start feeling better. I'm praying for you!

What color did you paint Ashton's room? I hope you are taking before & after pics for us!

Cara, That must be really frustrating not being able to find out what's causing Logan's episodes!! Prayers that he doesn't have another one.

We had to take Alexis to the doc yesterday. She had complained a little about sore throat on our drive back from FL on Saturday. Then Tuesday she started spitting up blood! Complained a little about her throat but hasn't run any fever. It really freaked us out until we thought to look at her throat. Well long story short, she has a bad case of tonsillitis. Started her on antibiotics & if the bleeding doesn't stop in a day or so, she'll have to go back in. She woke up happy this morning, so I think she is going to be fine.

Lori, I just told this morning's Alexis funny story on the WFD thread but I thought that it would make you smile.

Well ladies, Missy A already seems better this morning! Bob usually tries to wake her up, while I'm starting breakfast. He has a routine ( he can't get close to her bed because of his WC ) so first he starts calling her name. It never works I don't know why he keeps trying it. Then he starts playing " It's a Small World " on his phone & singing. This usually gets her awake but not usually in the happiest of moods. So this morning he does his usual, I hear him singing but didn't hear a peep out of her.

So picture this... Here comes Bob down the hall in his WC playing & singing " It's a Small World" He's got the biggest grin on his face & he says " Nana! I have a a doll from It's a Small World following me!" Then behind him I see her with her messy hair & sleepy face but she's got a big ole smile on her face & is doing the hula to the music. You know the fast hip swinging from the hawaiian dolls in the ride!! It was a great way to start the day!
