Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

And that is what I love about Louisiana! You noticed, no fights! Everyone was hugging each other. All about the love. Makes me cry (again) just watching the love!

Ehhh....there was a fight or two. Just trust me on this one. :scared:

BUT....they were few and far between and the poles were not even greased and nobody was climbing them, no jumping on cars, turning them over, starting fires, looting stores....:goodvibes It was good times!! :dance3:

I remember in 2000 when the Lakers won the NBA championship & there was riots, fires, looting. The biggest party city in the country & nothing! So proud to be from South LA, can't say from New Orleans, but I'm only 1 hr away!

Denver rioted once or twice while I lived out that way. This was definitely better!! We had a good time last night!! :dance3:

Lori, your "friend" does sound like a mean, combative person. I de-friend her if she's bringing you down.

As far as the riots, I recall Detroit rioting when they won a championship for a certain sport a few years back. I remember seeing on the news the fires people started. New Orleans didn't have that last night.

Um....they are mentioning the "snow" word for Thursday night! :scared1: (Wintry mix possible with a few flakes thrown in for the South shore.) Aren't we supposed to be a little warmer than this by now?

If you go to the parade tomorrow, they are saying 42-46 degrees with wind, so dress warm! I don't think I'm going to make it there. I wish I could tape it off the tv but I don't have the technology to do it, and I have to work so I can't go watch it in person. :sad1:

I did not expect any rioting here last night. If I did, we would not have even considered going down to the Quarter.

A fistfight did break out right next to us at one point. I sensed it coming and jumped out of the way with Cara; right after we moved I heard the punch and then the guy slam into the side of the media truck we had just been standing next to. The only other time I felt anything other than safe was when the crowd got really insanely crushingly crowded. That's when we decided to leave. When I got home I heard there had been a stabbing; I think we were about block or so away at the time it happened based on the information the news gave.

I was away from home for 5 hours and those were the only incidents in that time span?? New Orleans did good. :thumbsup2

What??????? We're flying out Friday morning.:scared:

We're going to watch the parade on TV!

I live in Dallas now, but lived all of my life in Terrytown. I miss it so bad.

Welcome to our group!

Funny- I defriended her a few months ago and played dumb we she friended me again. She was very offensive about LSU and a couple other things and I just couldn't take it any longer.

So, I must have offended her b/c she defriended me after I posted back to her. heeheee........ I am relieved.

I am not sure there is a church in the NOLA area that didn't jump on that!

Hi gang.

Lori I too would defriend this person. You don't need that drama.

I'm still tired and dragging. I think I'll turn in early tonight.

Man I hate going to parades in cold and windy weather...UGH.

Bethany what in the world, snow on Thursday?

I hate parades in cold weather too. The forecast for tomorrow is making me feel better about not going to the parade tomorrow. Oh, I hate doing most things in cold weather come to think of it. :rotfl:

Margaret Orr, Channel 6, mentioned it. Blame her.

I also saw something about how the past 4 Februaries (is that a word??) there have been between 11-16 days of 70+ degree weather. So far this February we have 0 and there are no in the 7 day forecast! :scared1: BRRR!

And I get NO sympathy from people in New York about it either!! Hmph! :lmao:

The year our son was a page in a Mardi Gras ball- 88 or 89 - it snowed like crazy and it was in February.

Hey y'all,

I'm just recovering from our after game celebrating. I still can't believe it! We won the freakin SUPERBOWL!!! We want to go to the parade tomorrow. Parking is always a problem for Bob's van. Jenny, We might try getting to your spot.

The party outside was loud and went on for a long, LONG time! :rotfl: DH was running around outside hootin' and hollerin' and hugging people he didn't know. He even made me stop the pee patrol- "aw, just let 'em pee...I'll turn on the sprinklers tomorrow". :rotfl2:

Wow sorry Lorie I totally missed this. :lmao: :lmao: Girl you are too funny with the pee patroling. I'd do the same thing also.

There is a parking lot, a nice one about a block away.

I won't be coming after all. My friend can't drive now and I dont want to drive back alone in dark .

Ack, all these pages to read. I am recovering from last nights party and bummed that there is just no way I can make this parade tomorrow. Work for one, and then it is also a school night.

Lori, sorry your friend (term used losely) was bringing you down. I grew up a Tampa Bay Bucs fan and they were very much like the Saints where McDonalds would give a free Big Mac if they scored ONE point at a home game, but of course, the Big Macs were safe since they didn't score at all that year. When I moved here, the first year the Saints grew on me. I dreamed of the day they would make it this far and hoped I would get to see and experience it. I am thrilled to be here and be a Saints fan. I still have a weak spot for the Bucs but I don't follow them much and only cheer for them now when they make it to the Superbowl.

I hope every has a wonderful Tuesday...

Did ya'll see Drew on Letterman? And Baylen & Brittany after the segment was over? I have got to figure a way to arrange a marriage between Shelby & Baylen! lmao
