Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Well DD's first day was good. She talked my head off from the moment she was picked up until she fell asleep for a nap. :)

Thank you. My heart sighed a big relief when I saw her walking up to the car smiling from ear to ear. :)

Rie decided to go back to a traditional school last Spring. My stomach was in knots her first day. She loved it and still does.

Lori - I'm bummed you had to spill the beans on the trip secret, but I think you will enjoy the trip anticipation even more WITH the girls than the stress of keeping it a secret. Were they on to you at all? I know you suspected it.

Serena - I'm glad to hear her first day went so well!

Kathy - I know you were worried about what your role would be once Kyle left home, but it sounds like you're finding your niche JUST FINE! And I'm NOT surprised it involves food! :rotfl:

We have had 6 days spent mostly in meetings; we have two more days before the kids come on Thursday. This morning we started out the day with Crisis Management (Ya know, school policies for things like hurricane evacuations, tornado warnings, fire drills, lockdowns, etc...). :headache: Nothing like 9am on a Monday "ARE YOU PREPARED?!?....Did you SEE this weekend how fast a storm formed in the gulf?!?" uhhhhhhh yeah... continued with "Do you KNOW what's down the road a bit? How about FURTHER down the road? Have you SMELLED the swamp?!? You don't need to report smelly air. That is NOT an emergency." :lmao::lmao:

How awesome, such an exciting journey is ahead for you both!!!

Great news Mom!!!!

:rotfl: You are so right!

Kyle just called, he's coming in tomorrow to pick up some clothes he forgot!:yay:

Nothing spoiled:goodvibes- we already got the coutdown link going(like 2 seconds after getting home from lunch (where we told them). My hubby was hilarious- he was almost dancing in the booth at Chili's yesterday while telling them we won't be having bunny bread ham sandwiches to carry around every other day b/c we have the dining plan- it was troo funny. I'll try to post a pic of it but it is on his phone and he is in Austin for the night.

Lori

Your DH sounds like my DH about the dining plan:rotfl: What is IT about not having to eat sandwiches all week that gets them so giddy?;)

So, it's your fault we went from 0 to 3 tropical systems almost overnight?!? Glad someone's explaining to Piglet how this works!

Of course, I've got a freezer full as well. Maybe since we did the shrimp & quarter-calf in June, the weather gods weren't quite awake yet???

Glad to hear you got the garage door project done. Now, is there anyone else with pending home improvement projects we need to know about? Those tend to be storm magnets as well! ;) DSis is partially to blame for Gustav, you know, because of their decision to install a patio. :upsidedow
Someone has to explain it to Piglets... :rotfl2: I have no more home improvement projects in the works for now.. thank goodness. We got a brand new roof a month before Katrina.. so you are so right about being storm magnets.

Hey Y'all,

Alexis & I are feeling much better! Tried to squeeze in the last little bit of summer. We woke up early, made blueberry pancakes & got in a swim before the sky started falling.
So glad that you got to have some fun today with Alexis. How is she feeling about a new year? I hope that she gets a really good teacher this year, for her sake.

Well DD's first day was good. She talked my head off from the moment she was picked up until she fell asleep for a nap. :)

:thumbsup2:dance3: I am so glad to hear her first day at her new school was good. You must have been a mess yourself this morning... I know I would have been.

:rotfl2: At least they didn't bring scratch and sniff stickers... could you imagine?

Kathy: I know I quoted you but the Dis took it away... I am so glad that you are starting to feel a bit better. You are always going to be mom, and one that cooks, you might have 20 or more sons by the time Kyle graduates... (and you thought you raised an only child;) )

School starts on Thursday so I took my boys to Wal-mart for new shoes today. Usually I buy brand name shoes for them... but they asked to go to Wal-mart because they saw the shoes they wanted in the Sunday circular. $22 and two pairs of shoes later.. they were happy boys. I will admit that you will see Fletcher coming a mile away... he insisted on LIME green and gray shoes.

Logan is excited because he is going on a field trip on Wednesday to Baton Rouge with the cheerleaders. They are going to the Capitol for a legislative vote, touring the USS Kidd, and having lunch at a restaurant before coming back. All I know is that I have to get him to school very early because the bus is leaving at 6:30 in the morning:scared1:

I think I saw Fletcher's shoes at Wallie World. They are lime, alright.:)

How old is Logan? Our oldest son played football in high school because he wanted to date the cheerleaders. :rotfl:

Rie would get along great with your boys-her shoes are so bright you can see them from space and she's a cheerleader.:goodvibes

I'm not sure what they're talking about, he said they turned the dishwasher on yesterday and it stunk. The shower water too.....:confused3

Since it's well water, it doesn't need as much chemical treatment & "polishing" as river water, so the lack of chemicals is probably what he's noticing - not bad, just different. Speaking of the stink, tell him just wait until the fall / winter. Once the wind switches, he'll start to be able to smell the plants off the river. That's the funk that would always stink to me.

I'd love to be hired as house mother.:upsidedow
You'd be a natural!

He mentioned "Walk On's" for lunch, know anything about it?
We've been there once. Pretty good food & atmosphere. Spitting distance from campus. My review's a bit tainted, because we still judge plenty places by the value of their kid's meal, and their's suffered. I think they're a little too proud of their food for the prices, but you're paying for the location.

I left them with red beans & rice on Saturday and they ate it last night. Two of his roomies asked to be my friend on facebook yesterday, my plan is working like magic.;)
Cue the evil laugh....bwah ha hah! ;) Don't be surprised if a few of them follow K home for the weekend!
Well DD's first day was good. She talked my head off from the moment she was picked up until she fell asleep for a nap. :)
YAY! Well, it's officially started for us. DS2 had his 1st homework meltdown of the year. Now that it's out of the way, hopefully it'll be smooth sailing.

We have had 6 days spent mostly in meetings; we have two more days before the kids come on Thursday.
Yeah, planning meetings are a little bit different here, huh? But, really, 6 days with 2 more to go??? Just how much is there to discuss? I'd be meeting-ed out. I'm hoping they're worth your while, unlike the colored dots lecture you had last semester!

wow! I posted last night and even saw it agai after posting and today it isn't here. What makes something get scrapped?

I was just saying that we had a sleepover with 6 girls last nightwhile hubby was OOT for the night. We did pedi's and had fun!

DH is in his glory- he got to the rental car place for his normal boring mid sized car the job will pay for and they gave him a fire engine red camaro..... he may never come home:laughing:. I think he is disappointed that this is not a longer business trip!

Hope the day goes well for all!

Lori

Look @ the end of p172 - those are the ones I saw this am. Are those the mysteriously missing posts?

A new red camaro?? So NOT a minivan or family sedan! :rotfl: DH would be thinking of excuses to run around town....anyone need lunch pickup, dry cleaning, chauffered anywhere?!? As much as I'd hate to, I'd have to deny it...the potential for speeding tickets would be too great :rolleyes1!

Hey Y'all,

It's the last day of summer for us. School starts tomorrow. :sad1:

Lori, I'm glad the whole family is getting excited about your trip!

Lorie, I miss you not checking in as often, but I understand! I hope both those sweet kids are doing well!

Terry, I'm so glad your girl had a good first day! :goodvibes I know you must be feeling a lot better now.

So glad that you got to have some fun today with Alexis. How is she feeling about a new year? I hope that she gets a really good teacher this year, for her sake.

Thanks for asking. We found out that she got the teacher we were hoping for!! Last year when it snowed they wouldn't let the kids step off the walkays ( I'm guessing insurance issues) Well this teacher took each student outside (individually) & took thier picture out in the snow. We are going to try putting her on the bus this year. She is scared about that, her Mom spoke to the bus driver & she seemed very nice too. So we're hoping that goes well.

I hope Logan has a great time, that sure sounds like a great field trip!

I hope the rest of the meetings were more productive!

It is so funny you said that b/c his second sentence after saying, "I got a fire engine red camaro" was, "I hope I don't get a ticket b/c it is EASY to speed in this car". I was like, "you better be a grampa in that car, buddy!!"

He sent me a pic.... lemme upload to photobucket...
