Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Awww, he is precious!

Thanks for the update! I have been wondering how they were doing. I am so glad to find they are both well!

90 more minutes for after school and its over!

aww.. I want to snuggle with him NOW lol.

He is gorgeous! Congratulations to all of you !!

It's a boy! Woooo hoooo! Betcha Mom (once she gets over the groggies), Dad & little Sienna are just on :cloud9:! Look at that shock of hair!

Lorie- Any bets if your friends noticed you were able to stick in a NOLA reference in his name (intentional or not)? Erik Zachery = EZ (like the Big Easy!) ;) If DH's face looks like this :scared1:  :rolleyes:right about now, I'll forget I ever mentioned it.

shovan - You're off to Disney...tomorrow??!! What're you doing reading this??? Get packing! Hope the EMG soreness is gone (that sounded like torture) & y'all have a wonderful time!

rie's mom - Wish I had something good to say about Natchez, but I don't think I'll ever have a chance. DH spent several weeks there early in our marriage on a horrendous job assignment & has no desire to return. If you need some good advice / reviews, check out Country Roads magazine (and their website http://www.countryroadsmagazine.com/ ). Although they're based in BR / St. Francisville, they do lots of coverage on that area.

YAY!! Welcome Erik!!:cool1: we can't wait to overwhel...I mean, MEET you!!! EZ Norman....sounds like a business/TV name! :rotfl:

have fun Shovan!

went to Natchez once - it was beautiful!

Erik is adorable!!! Congratulations y'all!!!

I've been to Natchez, but we stayed at The Briars bed and breakfast. We did have dinner at Monmouth Plantation one night and it was a very special night. Cocktails were served in the garden/courtyard when we arrived. You could walk around the beautiful grounds. Roosevelt (I still remember his name), the maitre de rang the dinner bell to tell us it was time to come in for dinner where we got to eat in the dining room of the plantation. He was so nice and formal dressed in tails. Dinner was delicious and Monmouth is a beautiful place.

Melrose Plantation is also beautiful and worth seeing while you are there.

Thanks so much for the information. We'l go to see Melrose while we're there. I'm glad the restaurant is so nice. I have a long summer dress-not formal-that I want to bring. I can't wait!!

Congratulations Lorie!! He is perfect, I want to hold him. I caN't wait to hold him!

Y'all aren't going to believe this but I'm in the car in Slidell. I don't know how but I managed to get done. Mr spontaneous decided to see if we could find a room midway! So we are our way now!!!!

You go girl! Have a blast!!!!:thumbsup2

.Ditto, ditto, ditto!!!!
What a little doll - cute, cute, cute just like his big sister. I thought about Lorie this morning wondering if she was still "crossing her legs".

Me too....:rotfl:

Well the trip was great. We were there a full seven days, had to dodge a few rain drops but not enough to alter our plans. We tried something new this go round by staying at the Bonnet Creek. It's right next door to the Carribean Beach so we truly felt like we were still smack in the middle of everything. We had a four bedroom condo on the 15th floor overlooking EPCOT. We were able to watch the fireworks every night from the balcony. The crowds were a little more than I was expecting but I truly don't think Disney has a slow time any longer. I was just hoping to beat the summer rush but that really didn't happen. We tried the new T Rex restaurant at Down Town Disney. It was really good and of course my kids loved the place. We always eat our first meal at the Rain Forest Cafe but now T Rex might be taking over that spot. One morning we had breakfast at Ohana and I must say it was the best breakfast we've ever had on Disney property. Chef Mickey was just ok this time around (for dinner) so I think our days there are over.

More later................

I remember seeing Bonnet Creek from CBR. It looks nice but I have an aversion to staying off-site. :rotfl:

That is a bit of a bummer about Chef Mickey's. Our first family trip, my brother had his birthday there and our 2nd family trip we had my birthday there. :thumbsup2

We saw, and have a pic of the T-Rex place being built at DD when we were there in 2/08, or maybe it was our Gustav hurrication.

I need to rethink this "run away to Iowa" thing...

Y'all aren't going to believe this but I'm in the car in Slidell. I don't know how but I managed to get done. Mr spontaneous decided to see if we could find a room midway! So we are our way now!!!!

:scared1: I do not believe you. Not one little bit. :rotfl: I hope your trip is FANTABULOUS!!

Sheryl, is Alexis singing in the car?princess:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

So tomorrow we have more Professional Development (all day - no kids). The last time was that Friday half day bit that I got so angry with everybody. I am trying to keep an open mind about tomorrow, but it's hard when I found out some of the topics (I really can't make this stuff up):
-Looking at data to plan the next 3 weeks (My plan: CLEAN THE ROOM)
-Looking at data to plan math
-Learning how to put colored dots on paper.

As for the last one, I said we KNOW how to do that and got the reply "but you're not DOING it." I said it is because between all the comments, notes, and oh, I dunno, teaching, we don't have TIME to put colored dots on their papers. :headache:

So my Spazz - O - Matic cell phone keeps freezing, has erased all my text messages, call history, and emails. I need to write down all my contacts' information before it eats that too.

I have T-Mobile and have had them since 2002 or so. My contract doesn't end until April and I don't really have a problem extending the contract for 2 years from now because it appears I need a new phone. :headache:

Any ideas? I am looking at the Samsung Behold and the G1. Both are just under $200 if I renew the contract for 2 years. Both are about $400 if I don't renew the contract. :scared: I think I still want a smart phone with internet access and all that jazz, but I'm not sure if I need it because right now I use it primarily on my lunch and commute. And I don't think I can DIS and drive...:rolleyes1

What I DO know is the LAST thing I needed right now was to deal with yet ANOTHER decision and phone troubles! And also what I do know is that if I'm going to have to go in to deal with switching phones I'm going to attempt to switch area codes at the same time. :rolleyes1

Mary you bet she is! Louder than the Disney cd! Did y'all know "cracker barrel is the best restaurant ever!" LOL

Congratulations Lorie!! He is perfect, I want to hold him. I caN't wait to hold him!

COOOOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a blast!

Okay, We LOVE Cracker Barrell- I blame it on my uncle who, on a drive to Ohio about 20 years ago, had us eat there for b/fast, lunch, and dinner on the way up, AND on the way down. But we all agreed-it's good!
My kids used to get Cracker barrell and Picadilly mixed up(how???) so we now teasingly call Cracker Barrell, "Crackerdilly"-one of my kids called it this and it stuck.

Lori

Crackerdilly :lmao:

Back on our 2005 WDW trip, my brother jokingly called his camera his "photograph machine" after we were laughing about how the planes call everything such fancy names (i.e. "electronic devices in the off position") and the name stuck. To this day I call my camera my Photograph Machine. :lmao:

Here is Erik Zachery Norman, 7 lbs 12 oz, 20" born at 8:23 am. Mom and son are both doing fine:

Congrats Lorie! Baby Erik is a doll! Haven't been checking in much- just wanted to tell everyone "hello" and I've been thinking of you all...Michael is still not 100% since his seizure so I've been hyper vigilant...i think I'm driving him crazy, following him everywhere :)

Girl, I can sooooo relate. Ask Ashton how often I felt her tummy and took her pulse when she was on chemo and even afterward- for a couple years afterward. I still feel her belly and take her pulse when she is sleeping if she complained of tummy pain in the day. I cleaned the bathrooms DAILY-from top to bottom. I wish I could say you could lick the floors NOW, but I promise you THEN, you could have. You could've licked the toilet seat too and not got sick-I was , umm, neurotic about preventing illness.

But I had good reason, and so do you. And, you are NOT crazy. You are doing your mommy job. You are a great mom, drive him crazy, you are going to do it one day anyway! I know I am!!!:rotfl:

You're doing a great job, mom!!! I hope everything gets better soon.

Lori

I have been dealing with some stuff that has really got me down....I have been reading but just not posting. I am excited for those of you with great stuff happening and sad for those of you who are down. Money is the main issue, hormones are either crazy or non-existent. and today my mom would be 65...so I am really on the verge of tears all day. I know it is normal, but I am very angry and frustrated lately. I know you guys are there for me....it means a lot. I just don't want to be a downer....

Sorry Kristina:hug: You know where to find me if you need me..

Bethany, Things are going to get better soon!

The EMG today was much worse than I expected! Why don't they prepare you for this stuff? I thought I had made it through the worse after the electrical shocks were over, then he started sticking needles in the muscles & wiggling them around until he hit the "hot spot"! :sad2:

Thats right Bethany... listen to the wise woman!
Sheryl... they don't tell you because then you wouldn't show up..

Why is it that boys tend to have gorgeous hair and the girls are bald...

I can't believe it... I hope that you have a wonderful trip!!!!:banana::rotfl2:

Good Question Mary! At least Alexis is a good little singer... and not tone deaf like me:scared1:

I remember seeing Bonnet Creek from CBR. It looks nice but I have an aversion to staying off-site. :rotfl:

Good luck with the phone issue Bethany... sorry it couldn't have waited until you settled down a bit but when it rains it pours!

Mary you bet she is! Louder than the Disney cd! Did y'all know "cracker barrel is the best restaurant ever!" LOL
:wizard:
Have a safe road trip Sheryl!

You probably are driving him crazy, but that is how they know we love them... at least that is what I keep telling myself.

Nothing really new to report around here...summer vacation is in full swing and this Audubon Membership I got for this year has been worth the money. We went to the aquarium yesterday and the zoo today.:dance3: I've had memberships with Rivertown in Kenner and the Children's Museum and both were fun places... but we didn't really use them as much.

I am reallly enjoying all these trip reports... I am currently dogsitting my friends 125lb Alaskan Malamute while they are at Disney. My reward is all the park maps (plus something from Goofy's Candy Co) and them watching Mingus Thanksgiving week for me...Not that I need a reward because the dog is sweet sweet sweet and well trained so no trouble at all :-)

Kim - Glad to see you here, miss you! I keep your boy in my prayers.

Hard to believe my baby boy is 19 today, time has flown by.:sad1:
