Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Okay...I need me one of those rose bushes! That is awesome!

Well, first I need me a YARD. :lmao:

And for the shameless plug...shame on you! :sad2: :lmao:

Hey, no yard required. That bush is in a pot I got from Lowe's for < $20.00

And I can tell you what nursery I got it from, though it was a little pricey. But you are pretty good with plants (one leaf! I can't believe it!), so if it's big enough when you finally settle in, maybe we can get you a clipping.

As for "shame on me"...it's outta my hands, I'm shameless! (I am far too media saturated. Rather than create my own dialogue at work, I'm often found quoting movies and songs.)

That rose is so pretty!!!

Thank you. Wish I could take more credit, but it was a pretty nice bush to start with. I'd've had to work real hard to screw it up.

Bethany-when you are here, you can get a sno-ball!!

Mary- beautiful pic. I am sooo happy prom dresses are now prom dresses and not cocktail style. We had strict rules for dresses at Dominican back in the day. They would measure them if it was iffy. Northlake Christian over here makes the girls bring thier dresses in to school to be checked out first. It's a little over the top, but I'd rather that than nothing!! My friends DD is graduating from there next month. She was homeschooled till 10th or 11th grade.

Lori

Yes, sno-balls kick ice-cream's be-hind. But you have to have the right ice.

I'm sure I recall Mt. Carmel requiring a certain length, and I BELIEVE (remember, I wasn't paying close attention) that they did not allow strapless either. Which surely caused great grief. But we weren't even allowed to tie our sweatshirts around our waists, because we might be hiding a pregnancy! No, I'm not joking.:sad2:

FloraFauna - now THAT'S a prom dress. I was wondering what happened to the formals in the other pics. I didn't go to my prom, but I know the girls in my class would have died if their dresses didn't touch the floor. I didn't understand those cocktail dresses. :confused3 I thought that was a major no-no.

Not having a girl I'm not sure when the trend to shorter cocktail dresses happened but I like it!:thumbsup2 Ursuline had rules about "revealing attire" but I believe they left it up to the girls to choose the length of their dress.

That rose is gorgeous!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Almost forgot to mention, Kyle & Mariah said Ms. Kristina has a beautiful voice!

thanks for the info arminnie...if possible I would like to wait until 7/1 (one cause that is when the insurance rolls over and 2 because it is a short week!) however, our bodies, like our appliances, don't always fall apart when it is convenient!.
I think it can be managed. I've known a few people who scheduled their GB removal a little later. Try to avoid as much fat as possible - I know - not easy eating in nola.:)

But I told my sister that she should expect some spoiling b/c I am not above taking him into my bed for some good sleep!!
As usual, i love love love having DN6 over. She is just part of us.
I think that's great. I loved going over to stay with my cousins. We did it all the time. My cousins are more like sisters.

Hey, here is a picture of my son and his date about to leave for the Jesuit Jr. Prom.

So adorable - both of them.

I just finished watching Muppet Treasure Island, and now I have lots of catchy tunes in my head. My favorite one is "shiver my timbers, shiver my soul/yo ho heave ho", but the one that sticks the most is "cabin fever, ah!" And now I feel a strong urge to watch Rocky Horror to hear more Tim Curry.

The Disneyland rose bush went NUTS the last few days.

That's just a sample. For more pics follow this shameless plug for my PTR. :rotfl:pirate:

THe rose is too pretty. Im super jealous.. Ive been on hubby to build me for roses, but it has yet to have happened . So many other projects need his attention.

Keep in mind that "normal" temps for us at this time of year are low 60s.

Tomorrow's forecast, for The Bronx, NY: 88° F | 59° F :faint:

:woohoo: I just might have to go outside. And get some ICE CREAM. :dance3:

Hey B.. how ya feeling? I see the pig flu has invaded your area..........
Maybe its not the mold but the pigs that got ya feeling ick.
; )

Wow.. I went to Mt. Carmel in N.I. and we didnt have any rules like that. Holy moly.. your Sisters were tough!

woo hoo.. look at me. I finally got around to doing a multi quote post!

Way to go Jen on your multiquoting...:thumbsup2

Mary... what beautiful kids...I hope that they had a good time!

Kristina... please dish about Brennan's, I need to get around there one day!

We had the best weather for camping yet! Sean did pretty good considering he was a first timer. All Spencer wanted to do was play in the dirt... he was filthy this morning when we got home. The camp had no water pressure so there was only what you brought... We drank through 3 gallons and used a few for dishes and such. They usually have water, but the pump went out Friday night.

I did learn that Spencer will not use the bathroom away from home. He was pretty cranky by last night and never wants to go camping again! Poor kid!

A week? We get Thursday and Friday.

I have to teach my class a dance to perform at the P.S. --- 2nd Annual Dance Festival. Each class has to learn a dance then perform it to (half of) the rest of the school (K-2 or 3-5). I can't dance. ANY IDEAS?!? :confused3

Wow!!!

We could wear strapless unless I am remembering what I wore to DH's dances and not DHS's. He went to Rummel.
I do know we had rules on length though.

BTW-Mary, your son is a handsome boy!!!

Did you all see that Talledega crash! ouch. I cannot beleive those guys walk away from something like that.

My DN5mos is a blast. He has been an angel. Only cries when hungry or tired and it isn't a screeching cry- it is more of a "I'm over this and I want my bottel/bed" cry. Not even that whiny. I can take screechy over whiny.
DN6 is my heart anyway, so I can't say much rotten about her-although I am sure there is much, she has been great!!!
We went to her school fair yesterday, and I got to stroll DN around and today i got to show him off at our bible study.

dcrvfed:sad2:sAX- THAT WAS FROM HIM-he just started pressing buttons!

hmmm... maybe he wants to be fed....

Lori

We hit 92 degrees! :faint:

It was 36 not even a week ago. My a/c was NOT keeping up either, and I never did go get my ice cream. :headache: Must. go. tomorrow!

Off to bed for me...goodnight!

Good Morning NOLA.

I hope you all had a great weekend. Wow Bethany it's hotter in NY than in New Orleans right now.

Kendall's birthday party on Saturday was a hit. We had 28 kids which was really a good manageable number. The party was outside and it really wasn't too bad. A nice breeze was blowing. We had lots of tiki torches with citronella stuff in it so that helped some with the bugs and Off did the rest. I haven't fooled with my camera yet to upload the pictures but when I do I'll post a few.

Today I'll be bonding with my laundry room because I neglected the clothes all weekend. :laundy: Fun times playing catch up today.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the prom pics.:)

Tricia, I'm glad there was good weather for the party. I know your daughter must have had a great time.

Cara, I'm glad the camping trip went well.

Jwhtewofld, your roses are also so pretty to see:thumbsup2

Good morning NOLA!

Tricia - Happy to hear the party went well, can't wait to see the pics!:goodvibes

Sno-balls? Who mentioned sno-balls??? I'm a little concerned because the stand nearest the house isn't opened yet. I thought they usually opened after Easter. Maybe they're waiting until May? I really hope the family didn't decide to give up the stand, because they had awesome snoballs!

And how do you have a trip planned for November? Do you know the calendar for your school already?
You'll have all kind of different breaks and holidays here! We usually get a week at Thanksgiving, two weeks btw Christmas & New Year's, a week at Easter, and, depending on your school system, you'll probably get a week at Mardi Gras too! We only get M/Tu for Mardi Gras here.

I know some of our parish's schedule for 09-10 is already posted on their website. I bet if you did some digging you could find yours as well.

We went to her school fair yesterday, and I got to stroll DN around and today i got to show him off at our bible study.
Were y'all in P'vl Saturday? Shoot, I wish I would've known! DS1 was quite perturbed we didn't go to the fair Saturday. We ended up spending the better part of the day there yesterday, however.

Flora - Great prom pic! Count me in as another who's impressed by the date's dress. I'd be scared to ask how much $$$ - it looks expensive, but it's quite lovely.

GW- WOW! You really lucked out with the weather for K's party! Gorgeous evening. I hope you were able to enjoy the party as well.

kmores - All the gallbladder stories I have are similar to arminnie's, although not as harrowing! I have three co-workers who all thought it was something much worse (heart attacks were mentioned in one case), and ended up only needing the simple laparascopic procedure. The youngest of the bunch (in his early 30's) had complications, but I'm not sure what was the reason. Recovery is pretty simple, too - one friend's mom was able to head out on her 7day cruise quite soon post-op!
