Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hey y'all!

Don't worry, no baby yet! ;) Don't come after me, Kathy!

I've been super busy, but the closet is DONE!!:cool1: I spent Mother's Day cleaning my bedroom. I just couldn't take the mess anymore- I know, I know, bad girl. But I woke up Sunday morning congested with a sore throat and one eye red and swollen shut with goo. It was all of that dust bothering me, so I had to get rid of it- I just couldn't wait any longer! So the room is clean, and I feel MUCH better now. :cloud9: DH has to move the big furniture where it needs to go now because I can't do that (I'm not that insane...).

Tomorrow I start washing baby clothes and putting it in the chifferobe that DS inherited from DH (thanks to the new closet :thumbsup2).

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day! :flower3:

Kathy- I know Mother's Day is hard for you- I'm glad you survived.

Cara- OMG, it's contagious! I have driveway pee'ers, and now you have a drive-by pee'er! :rotfl2: I know, you don't know whether to laugh or cry. :confused3 DH always says that I should take pictures...:rotfl:

Penny- Congrats on the team win!

Lori- Sounds like y'all had a wonderful time! Sounds heavenly :cloud9:

cajunmommy- What a terrible story, just unbelievable. :sad2:

Sheryl- I hope Alexis improves and that you stay well too!

Tricia- My niece just got her senior ring last week. How time has flown by! Ironically, she was born when I was in WDW, and it must have been destiny because she is a WDW lover now too! (in fact, she is there this week!)

Mary- I hope all is ok

Terry- That trip is getting close! Have you made your ADR's yet?

Bethany- Well I don't give him a real bath- that would never fly. When it is cold, I just spray him with a water bottle when he's in his cage (he's afraid of the sink). If it's warm, I take him outside in his cage and put the hose over him on the mist setting and let him have at it. But if he does not want a bath, he just cowers in the corner of the cage and just glares at me. I never know what his mood he's going to be in- he's as bad as the three year old!

I'm sorry if I missed anyone! Whew, that was a lot to catch up on!

I don't want to get too graphic, but I'm anemic from my monthly cycles (I've had 3 within the last 6 weeks). My Dr. wants to do an ultrasound on Friday so he can narrow it down to what could be the problem, then we'll go from there. I've just been so weak, its hard to get up the energy to do a lot.
I've been there and it's not a good feeling. Hoping your doc will have some answers for you on Friday.

Sheryl- What would I get fussed at for? I'm not pregnant! :lmao:

I get fussed at enough at work. Yesterday the write up was for (wait for it...) erasing the chalkboard too early! It's so absurd I had to laugh. Mentally I am so gone already!

Mary-I hope you feel better!

They have a ceremony to move the kids from junior to senior? My high school (none of the 3) did not do all that.

Have a great day...

I sure needed those laughs. Don't know if it's hit the Picayune, but there's a murder trial going on in Thibodaux (the mom that killed her 2 kids). The whole thing hits way too close to home, as I know most of the people involved. It's such a depressing situation that I never thought I'd see happen in my home town.

Yes, It's hard to believe that something that awful can happen anywhere much less in Thibodaux! :sad2: I still have some 2nd cousins & 2 great aunts in Thibodaux but we don't visit very often anymore. :sad1:
My Sil's name is Amy & her maiden name is Hebert.:upsidedow

Sheryl, sorry to hear about the sickness going on over there. Hope all are better soon.:

Thanks Mary! I think a lot of us have dealt with that baloney! Hope the dr can figure this out. Is this a new problem for you?

:yay::dance3: I know you are happy the closet is done!!! I'm happy for you. AND that you got all that dust cleaned up! That will make you sick really fast.

Now you can really set up the nest! :goodvibes Lorie, You wrote DS!!! I think that's the first time! :lovestruc Awww, sweet!

Drive-by pee'ers! :rotfl2: Gosh that's funny!

Thanks I'm feeling a little better. I haven't gotten a call from school yet, so that's a good thing!

Lorie, How are you feeling after doing all that work?

Sheryl- What would I get fussed at for? I'm not pregnant! :lmao:

I get fussed at enough at work.

I'm sorry you get fussed at work! But.. Kat & I would have to fuss at you, for things like not going to the dr. when you need to, overall just not taking good care of yourself! So BE GOOD and we won't have to fuss! :goodvibes

Lorie, How are you feeling after doing all that work?
It felt weird typing "DS" because he's still not here...I feel like I'm jinxing myself and I'll wind up having a girl- wouldn't that be a shocker?

And ugh, my hips HURT after all of that work! I know they are widening for the impending arrival of ds ;), but really, I want to tell them to just STOP because I'm having a c-section! No need for these hips to get any wider than they already are!

:eek:Well that would be a surprise wouldn't it! So now would we be welcoming Erika?;) or reverting back to previously chosen girl names? ;)

Maybe your hips just hurt from moving around so much. That's it just too much strain, NOT widening! :wizard:

No I have not called for my ADR's yet. Yes I know, I know. Too darn busy.

Well at least we have a girl name chosen, always have... Corinne Claire. Too bad we could never agree on a boy's name so easily! And still no middle name decided on. I think I just want to wait now and see him to decide what name is right for him.

lol :)

Well you'll have to give us a mini-dining report when you decide!

Terry, 16 days! :cool1:

I had settle on a boy's name, but was all over the :laughing:place for girls. At first I was set on a french name, Nicole Renee or Nicole Jolie, or going with Jolie as the first name. Bob had mentioned Angelina several times ( his grandmother's name) and I just wasn't really feeling it. Then when she was born, first I was shocked he was a she! But then after a few hours of looking at her, I just knew Angelina was right! Then we couldn't decide between Angelina Nicole or Angelina Jolie , she has told me she's very glad we didn't go with the last option!

Yes it would be, I had a shocker! My doc told me all along I was having a girl. I had nothing but girl clothes and the name was Kylie Rose. WELL, we all know how she turned out! I was in total shock....:scared1:

So cool to see you type "DS"....:cloud9: Glad I didn't have to come hunt you down woman.;)

We went back and forth on a middle name for Spencer... we didn't know what we were having... and a girl name was set as Katherine Sarah... but for a boy... we knew Spencer but ran out of Grandmothers to name him after:rotfl: I had it narrowed down to Carson (more for me) or Christopher (DHs middle name) but went back and forth until he was in my arms and the dr. asked his name... I knew at that moment it was Spencer Christopher. It fit, so I said all that to say GOOD IDEA...

That is scary... and one of the reason's I didn't want to find out what we were having...

Well, today was Spencer/Mommy day and we had a ball... but first we had to get the 4 year shots... he was very brave but it went like this...popcorn::

Nurse: okay Spencer, you need 4 shots today
Spencer: okay
Nurse: okay, here is the first one... you can look away if you want
Spencer: no, I wanna see... hey now... you know that hurts
Nurse: good job, now the other arm... ready?
Spencer: is it gonna hurt
Nurse: just a little *pokes him
Spencer: Hey LADY, why do you want to hurt me...
Nurse: i'm sorry... now your leg
Spencer: okay.. just two more
Nurse: yep, just two
Spencer: LADY, what did I do to you
(at this time I am holding him down praying that he won't kick her just to get his own lick in)
Nurse: you are all done... you did great... no tears...
Spencer: You can go... I never want to see you again
Nurse: you don't have to see me until youre 11...
Spencer: 11... I'm not coming back when I am 11... you like to hurt people

After that episode... we went to the aquarium to pet the shark... he wasn't interested in the otters, penguins, or other things... just the shark... where he promised the shark attendent that he would not choke the shark. The poor man's eyes got as big as saucers and asked him why he would choke a shark. Spencer pointed to the How to Pet a Shark sign and said "two fingers"... then the man relaxed but insisted on "helping" him pet the shark anyhow... Spencer was fine with that as he got to stay with the shark for quite a while singing rock a bye baby to it like it was gonna go for a nap...

so we did the aquarium in record time... in, through and out in 45 minutes... so we had lunch at Fuji Hana's. Spencer was entralled by the cooking on the table thing... and made it home just in time for the thunderstorm... phew...

I will catch up later, but I got to go all over collecting the big brothers and cub scouts tonight...
Hope everyone had a good day!

Congratulations Kelsie!!

The New York street corner- When I was in high school a million years ago, our drama club went to NYC. A couple of girls and I were behind a group at a corner waiting to cross. We began to cross when the others, then the light changed:scared1:!!! We were in the middle of the street-near Times Square- with cars zooming on either side of us. It was pretty scary. I had grown up in New Orleans, so I was kind of fazed but my friends were from "down the bayou" in Galliano. I thought that I'd have to scrape a couple of them off the road they were so scared, they couldn't move!!! From then on, it was taxis everywhere:rotfl:.

Carson is very rare. It was my Dad's middle name and is Kyle's as well, I've never seen it anywhere else.

Poor Spencer, he's too funny though.....:rotfl:

OMG ROFLMFAO :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: that is TOO Spencer!!!

I get fussed at enough at work. Yesterday the write up was for (wait for it...) erasing the chalkboard too early! It's so absurd I had to laugh. Mentally I am so gone already!

What does that even MEAN? :confused3 You're not supposed to erase it before a certain time? What does it matter???

They have a ceremony to move the kids from junior to senior? My high school (none of the 3) did not do all that.

catholic high schools have ceremonies for EVERYTHING. Every year we got some new silly somesuch...a pin, a cub (on a string), a ring. Then (to make more money, I'm sure) seniors are allowed to wear a tan color sweater instead of the dark brown sweater, so you're supposed to buy a brand new sweater for one year.

My brother was supposed to be a girl, so they had no boy names, so ended up Phillip James Jr.

No I have not called for my ADR's yet. Yes I know, I know. Too darn busy.

I am so excited for you!

This is from the NYC Office of Emergency Management website:

This month's quiz is about hurricanes to celebrate Hurricane Awareness Month. ("Celebrate" :confused3 I'm STILL hung up on that word and it's the 12th already...)

1. You should not only develop a disaster plan to prepare for emergencies, but you should:
Ignore it in an emergency
Practice the disaster plan
Eat three meals a day

2. Every household member should assemble an emergency:
Work belt
Movie collection
Go Bag

3. Which of the following isn't an item you would have in your Go Bag?
Computer mouse
Flashlight
Granola Bar

4. You should keep enough supplies in your home to survive for at least:
3 months
3 days
3 hours

5. To avoid heat-related illness in the summer months you should:
Work outside in the sun
Drink plenty of water
Do excessive physical activities

THANK YOU NYC OEM. I now feel FULLY PREPARED for hurricane season, thanks to your FANTABULOUS QUIZ. Or NOT! :lmao:

I got Lynne from my dad (Lynn) and his name was Phillip... that is too funny. My mother claimed she named me so I could combine my name into another one if I desired, but then had a cow when I tried it though...

I didn't have a ring ceremony either... but you are right about schools nickel and diming...
