Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Happy Friday ladies...

Julie, I loved the card... reminds me of my "happy place" which came in very handy while in labor;)

Lorie, I would tell you to take it easy, but Sheryl and Kat beat me to it:rotfl: Glad you got the strangers out of your house at least... though they probably weren't strangers after Sienna got throug with them. I am sorry that you have to spend mothers day without your dh.

Today was the Spring Fair so I brought home children with painted faces and striped hair... I think that they had a good time, but I have a mountain of work I have to get done thanks to the distractions:surfweb: I hope to finish up tonight so that I can take the weekend off.

Bethany, I really hope that your clothes were able to dry today. I am with Lorie, we went without a washer and dryeer for a long time and it was like Christmas when one finally showed up in my house... what am I talking about... it WAS my Christmas present that year.

Well... evidently the Iowa test scores are in? Only the K-2 take those and they were taking the week we returned from Spring Break:confused3 so why can't the LEAP scores come sooner? None the less... Fletcher did well on the Iowa test from what I heard, now I would just like to see the results myself.. Evidently (from Fletcher's teacher) the principal sent her an e-mail congratulating him for scoring so high. The teacher saw the scores and said he scored in the 4th and 5th grade levels:yay: Sorry, I had to have a minute to brag... AND NO ONE IS HOME FOR ME TO TELL:rolleyes1 Isn't that always the way. Word on the street is it is May 18th for the LEAP results.

WOO HOO GO FLETCHER!!!! (and you can tell him I said so!) :cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Drunko sounds like more fun!!!!

Someone is nesting. That little Erik will make his appearance soon!!

We all need our happy place!!! Mine is always accompanied by a Margarita. My DSIL and I have decided to move Margarita night til tomorrow because we're too tired to enjoy 1+ tonight.
wormcoasters.jpg

those coasters are AWESOMELY cute!

I am in a group that plays bunco once every 2 months or so = we should get together a bunco nite! ooh you guys can come, or we could do our own night! then our kids could play together and we can have fun.... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Just as I feared we didn't get to leave today. That's what happens when you own your own business.

Thanks for all the great advice anyway. We'll be down there tomorrow in our Mangham purple cheering for out boys. We have the only public school team left in 1-A high school ball.

Thanks again and wish us luck.

Penny

awww...well there are a lot of food places on Veterans and on Williams....have a safe trip down and good luck to the boys tomorrow! are you staying overnight tomorrow or driving back the same night?

I'm on the train! I love trains lol! I take the subway everyday but this is my first time on the Amtrak.

Yes, my clothes did dry in time! Yay!

I'm going to try to remember what I wanted to say. (I'm on my phone.)

Cara, that is great news about Fletcher! Tell him congratulations from me.

My school actually had some good news today. We had big gains on the state English test!

Norman the nutria in WalMart is some funny stuff! I actually laughed out loud!

I'm going to get off this for a bit and get some work done. I picked up a brochure for the Amtrak Crescent- the train that runs between here and New York just to look at it. Lol.

Have a great evening everybody!

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter.
The man at the counter asked the older boy, "Son, how old are you?"
"Eight," the boy replied.
The man continued, "do you know what these are used for?"
The boy replied, "not exactly, but they aren't for me.
They're for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do either."

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: you had both me and my dh rolling with this one... it is something I could see my ds's do, unfortunately

Glad you made it safe and sound with dry clothes... and had a fun train ride... my trainaholic would be so jealous. Great news from your school on your English Scores.

Thanks everyone about Fletcher! You really made his night!:wizard:

Norman the nutria... that is too funny!

Yum, Rum Cake... I am finding this NOLA thread to be dangerous to my waist... lately I come here and leave wanting chocolate, petit fours, and now rum cake!

Good Morning NOLA..

Fletcher....................way to go baby. :woohoo: Cara what a proud mom moment for you. :thumbsup2

Funny nutria story. My dad is originally from Abbeville too. Can you just imagine seeing a nutria walk by as you're trying to choose what cerael the kids want this week.

First leg of my Mother's Day weekend starts today. A little BBQ in the backyard with my family then we are making our Disney shirts. We ordered 13 bright orange shirts and some decals off of ebay. Lot's of ironing and of course we'll have an impromptu Disney party while we're at it. Mickey ice cubes and all. :lmao:

Happy Saturday everyone.

Happy Mothers Day ladies!

I am here to report that Lorie is not the only NOLA disser with front yard pee'rs :sad2: Today a car stops in front of my house... no big deal, happens all the time and I think nothing of it... until I hear my oldest son open his window and start talking. Now he is in there alone, supposed to be cleaning up and certainly not talking so I go in to "fuss" to find Logan with his head out the window saying "why are you peeing on my tree?".... well... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry because there was a half naked man in my yard.. but he quickly got his pants up and ran back to the car and drove off... tearing up my grass to boot but that is a whole other post that has to do with the Sewerage and Water Board  Now I don't live on a parade route, I don't live on a high traffic street, I don't get why my house was picked to be the lucky house... but I guess I don't have to fret with the recent lack of rainfall lately, my tree was watered today:rotfl:

Just made it home. Long day and worth every minute of driving time.

We won! 12 - 7 Way to go Mangham Dragons! On to the semi-finals.

Thanks and good night.

Penny

Happy Mother's Day!

OMG Cara! :lmao: I wonder why they chose your house.

Congratulations to the team, Penny!

I'm still in Boston, but taking the train back to New York this afternoon. We are going to do more walking around today. We are having a nice time, but this city is so clean it makes me nervous!

And I'll get to see my family again for Thanksgiving, so that is not too far away. My parents are going to go to New Orleans then.

I'm going to have to read back tomorrow night to catch up.

Have a great day everybody!

Happy Mother's Day to you too, Terry. I am glad to hear that it is a beautiful day out there... I wouldn't know... it is 4PM and I haven't gotten out of bed yet:woohoo:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Y'ALL!!!

I hope all of you had a nice day!

Kat, I know you are probably feeling blue today, I hope your guys helped make it better!

Lorie, I hope Sienna allowed to get a little rest today & you're not feeling too blue without your DH today.

Congratulations on having such a smart kid! It's totally okay to brag! :goodvibes

I did lay down for a little bit, but then DD woke up, so that peace was over.

I needed Chevy's because of all of those Mexican cravings I've been having!

As far as baby stuff goes, I'm all set. I had mostly everything I needed left from DD, except for clothes. I bought some clothes for him, but held back because I had gotten so many clothing baby gifts for Sienna that many outfits didn't even get worn! Plus, I still don't know how big he's going to be yet, so I don't want to get sizes he can't fit into or too much of one size.

I'm glad to know you are all set! Now just get all of that work finished & :headache: cleaned up & you are really set to welcome your new son. :wizard:

I know nothing about bunco but it sure sounds fun!

I'm so sorry that happened & your little guy had to see that! That's awful. :sad2:

Bethany, I have to admit, DD did comment on the cleanliness of your NYC! She said in comparison we really do have "Disney-like Clean" at least in the quarter!

While in NYC the met up with a high school friend of hers. Her friend tried to convince them to move there. Angelina was not going for it at all. She was shocked at the amount of people & of course they picked up a real estate brochure! Her reaction was :scared1:

This is funny! When I was deciding on my hysterectomy... or my body was deciding for ME, I found this site about what to do with my leftover stash...

Hey! Gals, I am NOT back yet!
Sitting in the Destin condo getting ready to leave in the morning. YES, we brought the laptop, against my original plans. But we did not look at it till DH's phone needed to be charged and I downloaded my pictures. I'll probably torture you with more later on but for those with FB, as some of you know, some are on there.

This vacation(which is what it turned into cuz we added a day) was much more needed than we thought. It has been great!

Talk to you soon!

Lori
