Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

This is funny! When I was deciding on my hysterectomy... or my body was deciding for ME, I found this site about what to do with my leftover stash...

http://www.tamponcrafts.com/gun.html

Hey! Gals, I am NOT back yet!
Sitting in the Destin condo getting ready to leave in the morning. YES, we brought the laptop, against my original plans. But we did not look at it till DH's phone needed to be charged and I downloaded my pictures. I'll probably torture you with more later on but for those with FB, as some of you know, some are on there.

This vacation(which is what it turned into cuz we added a day) was much more needed than we thought. It has been great!

Talk to you soon!

Lori

glad you are having a great time - have a safe trip home!

and..uh...yes I did go look at that website...:rotfl:

and....uh... EWWW I am surprised they *have* to warn you what NOT to use!!! UGH!!!

Good morning NOLA!

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day yesterday.

Kat, I was thinking about you yesterday and was wondering how you were doing.

Lori, I hope you had a great time in Destin and you were able to relax some. How are you feeling about the Houston situation?

Lorie, hang in there! I have to go back and see what you said about Chevy's. We have a field trip to there next week. :confused3

I'm happy for you that you're parents will be visiting you HERE!!! :goodvibes

Bethany, I have to admit, DD did comment on the cleanliness of your NYC! She said in comparison we really do have "Disney-like Clean" at least in the quarter!

While in NYC the met up with a high school friend of hers. Her friend tried to convince them to move there. Angelina was not going for it at all. She was shocked at the amount of people & of course they picked up a real estate brochure! Her reaction was :scared1:

So when I called my parents before I got to Boston after they got there, both times all my mom would say about the place is that "it's muggy". Since they "ABSOLUTELY NOT" will be going in the summer and "OHHHHHHH NO" will not be going during Mardi Gras (:lmao:), that left Thanksgiving. I don't remember why they didn't want to go during Christmas. I think my mom already has plans at her mom. My parents have told my brother to come too; he's not going for it yet. :confused3 It's still 6 months away, so we shall see.

I was laughing this weekend though; every time I see my mom it's in a different place. Since April 2007 I've seen her in Minneapolis, New York, Disneyland, Seattle, her house, and Boston. :rotfl2:

Was she commenting on the cleanliness or lack of it? (It's early...sorry). PARTS of NYC are spotless but large portions are insanely filthy.

:rotfl: At not going for it and the real estate prices. I was just excited in New Orleans that the apartments come with blinds on the windows.

I think I missed reading the previous page. I'll have to go back and do that tonight. I don't really know what I thought about Boston. It was nice, but if I never make it back up there, I think I'll be okay. :confused3

Well, I gotta go get ready for work. Have a good day everybody!

Good Morning NOLA.

I hope you all had a wonderful day with your families.

Bethany sounds like you had a great trip to Boston. That's a place my family wants to visit one day because we are big Red Sox fans here. Maybe one day.

Penny congrats on the win. :thumbsup2 It does make the ride home a little more enjoyable doesn't it?

Cara when one looks out the window seeing a half naked man is not what you expect to see. :sad2: How random was that? I guess it takes all kinds. :confused3

Well today is a very special day in the Grumpy household. Kelsie gets her Senior ring today. :woohoo: She's so excited, her friend came over at 5:45 this morning so they could get ready together, sort of like prom. While I'm so happy for them it also makes me a little sad to think my baby is growing up. Reality is slowing sinking in. I didn't get my Senior Ring until my Senior year but here in Mandeville you get it at the end of Jr. year. All the Seniors are gone from school so I guess this makes the Jr.s now the official Seniors of the school.

Good morning ladies.

Yesterday was a nice relaxing day.

Kathy how are you my dear?

Congrats to Kelsie.

Bethany I am glad you enjoyed your time with your family.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone! Hope all of you had a great Mother's Day weekend!
Overall the day went well - I'm still paying for one too many glasses of red wine with dinner last night. :rolleyes1

Lorie, is it Closet Day today? I'm getting anxious for you. I hope you're able to get settled before E-Day!

Oh - I missed some funnies from y'all over the weekend. Rie's Mom - I guffawed over your story. I read about "Norman" the attack nutria in the paper. Yep - LOL over that one too!

I sure needed those laughs. Don't know if it's hit the Picayune, but there's a murder trial going on in Thibodaux (the mom that killed her 2 kids). The whole thing hits way too close to home, as I know most of the people involved. It's such a depressing situation that I never thought I'd see happen in my home town.

Penny - Congrats on the team win! I didn't realize y'all were in Mangham. My stepbrother became friends with a guy from Mangham while @ LSU. They used to kid him because his "Manghamese" accent was SOOOOO thick! (uhh - yeah, that's coming from a bayou kid. Pot - meet kettle!)

GW - Senior ring day! That time holds a sentimental meaning for me. Ring night was one of my first dates with DH!

What's with the yard- pee-ers?? Piglet, don't let your mom (or co-workers) read this thread, OK? She'll think we haven't advanced to indoor plumbing!

I'm doing OK, survived yet another Mothers Day, by eating my weight in dungeness crab and drinking champagne.;)

That is such a sad, tragic story.:sad1:

Can't wait for Saturday!!!!!!!:yay:

Lol at the not having indoor plumbing. One of my kids dropped his pants and peed on the playground here at school last week!

I'm at 50 days! And time is really starting to FLY! (yet somehow mysteriously drag at the same time...)

Gotta go...more later!

Hey y'all,

Kat, I'm glad the crab & champagne helped! Where did y'all go?

I've got a very sick Alexis home today. I'll be taking her to the dr this afternoon. Bad coughing, lots of congestion, her fever was up to 103 over the weekend.

Hey! Gals, I am NOT back yet!
Sitting in the Destin condo getting ready to leave in the morning. Lori

Glad you're having fun, we won't be bored with pics at all!

So when I called my parents before I got to Boston after they got there, both times all my mom would say about the place is that "it's muggy".... so we shall see.

Was she commenting on the cleanliness or lack of it? (It's early...sorry). PARTS of NYC are spotless but large portions are insanely filthy.

Bethany, I hope that it all works out & they come here.

I was trying to politely tell you Angelina's thoughts on NYC, definitely the lack of cleanliness! Apparently she didn't find those spotless parts! She was quite surprised, because we really don't come from a clean town here. But what I think what surprised her the most, was the amount of people everywhere & the large amount of homeless & crazies hanging around on the sidewalks in front of the fanciest stores. I mean we have a lot of loonies that live here & aren't homeless, so this stuff doesn't usually surprise us. That's what surprised her!

 to you Tricia! I know that sad feeling. :sad1:

Lorie, I hope that closet becomes very close to completion this weekend!

I'm excited about our Meet this weekend! :yay:

We went to Red Maple, can't say I'd recommend it, the crab was the only thing that impressed me.

I'm so sorry that your princess is so sick. Hopefully the doc will start her on an antibiotic and get her well soon.

I agree the crowds are massive on corners in NY...this was the one thing DD was not happy with. She would literally squeeze my arms to death when we had to stop for the traffic signals. :scared1:

I too have visited the Red Maple and was not impressed.

Lorie - I'm gonna fuss now....you shouldn't be doing all of that, PLEASE take it easy.

Lorie....she fussed at Lauren too over on WFD. :goodvibes:rotfl:

I was just getting ready to fuss at you. ;)

Lorie...she fussed too. They are a tag team. :goodvibes :lmao:

Alright, I was bad and cleaned one bird cage and tried to give Louie the cockatiel a bath. He wasn't cooperating though, so I'll have to try again another day (you really can't give a bird a bath unless they want it). But that's it! I'm going to lay down now!

DD loves to help, but the problem is that she lacks focus...she'll be dusting for a couple of minutes, then sees something shiny or whatever, and she's off...

It would be a wonderful gift if the closet were really and truly finished on Monday! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! We were supposed to grill last night, but the contrator didn't leave until 6 o'clock, so grilling was scrapped and we went out to Chevy's instead. I think it was a pre-Mother's Day dinner, so I had that at least.

Why not just chase the bird around with a squirt bottle and give it a shower instead of a bath? ;)

I sound like your DD when it comes to chores (or anything else)...except I'm not 3. :rolleyes1 Ooooh....shiny! :lmao:

Soooo....is the closet done?

103! :scared: I hope she feels better and fast!

They'll show up eventually...my parents came here a few times. They would never stay with me though. They always stayed in a hotel in Midtown. :confused3

I was so tired and groggy this morning and not comprehending well...I had a feeling that's what you meant, but I was reading this before coffee and after a full HOUR (from 4-5am) of going in and out of sleep while listening to the arguing/screaming/etc outside from some domestic argument. Welcome home. :headache:

The spotless parts are few and far between and less so with the budget cuts going on. Manhattan is, in general, cleaner than the outer boroughs but that is a generalization; it depends a LOT on the neighborhood. Where all did she go?

I agree the crowds are massive on corners in NY...this was the one thing DD was not happy with. She would literally squeeze my arms to death when we had to stop for the traffic signals. :scared1:

The corners are bad. What I find freaky is crossing the street when you are in the front of the crowd. The crowd from the side is in a line across and so are you, and if you're walking in the front, you get to blaze the trail in the middle of the street. :scared:

Where is everyone tonight????
Let's see...I'm in New York. ;)

I was trying to get caught up on all my threads, get photos uploaded, and get some paperwork done. None of it is happening. I did get SOME stuff done, but I am overly ambitious on paper. :rotfl:

Goodnight everybody. Maybe tonight my neighbors will, oh, I dunno...SLEEP?!? :confused3

Congrats!!! I remember my ring day more than my graduation! One thing GOOD about Domincan was our senior rings-we have the COOLEST senior rings-like Mount Carmels, but blue!

We had fun and I already have to get back to reality with work in the morning.
We relaxed and talked very little about Houston-although our general concensus, after a week in FLORIDA, was non excitement about it. We tore the bank page out of thier phone book for the smaller bank names.

To wrap up our trip in a few words....
beautiful water(esp yesterday and today), sunny days , cool breeze, kids old enough to chill out with us in thier own ways, a Smirnoff Ice most nights(our compromise b/t beer and wine coolers-my beach drink of choice), reading a book by Jimmy Buffett, peace, lots of sea life, a tan, some peeling(already), and lots of family fun.

It was simple and unplanned-it was wonderful. It was hard to come home, if not for our doxies.

Lori

Lori I'm glad you and the family had a nice and relaxing vacation. Was the water cold at all?

Well it's official...........I'm the mother to a senior. The principal introduced them at the end of the ceremony as the new senior class of Fontainebleau High School. When I heard those words I cried. :sad1: I'm sure this is just the beginning of many tears that will be shed next year. It was so nice seeing all the students all dressed up and so excited. Everyone turning everyones rings just brought back such fond memories of my high school days.

cajunmommy  to you. I know the next several weeks will be hard hearing all about what happened to those kids. So sad and tragic and we're here for you.

Sheryl how's Alexis feeling today?

Yes ma'am, it's only the beginning.

Off to work, then the gym.........

Good morning. I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been having some problems of the female kind. I saw my ob/gyn yesterday and scheduled an ultrasound for Friday morning.

I will have to go back a few pages to catch up.

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day:)

Morning Y'all.

Kat, Yeah the Red Maple spread looks real nice & it was pretty good when they first started with it. But we went for Sunday brunch last year & the food was just eeaah.

Unfortunately the darn dr. didn't give her antibiotics! And I pushed hard for them! She insisted she only saw signs of virus & allergies. All she gave her was flonase for her nose.

But maybe it is a virus, both Chris & I started getting sick yesterday! I was feeling awful by last night. But I found an old antib. rx & started taking it & a ton of vitamins. But I'm itching this morning, probably why I had that antibiotic left! :rolleyes1

Sheryl how's Alexis feeling today?

Aww, yes the tears are going to flow this upcoming year. Glad it was a nice time, it's nice to see the excitement of being young & having your life ahead of you!

I missed something there from our cajun girl. Sorry-:sad1: M, I'll have to go read back.

The dr said if she didn't run anymore fever she could go to school. She has missed a ton this year & we are very close to the limit. So poor thing I had to try to send her to school this morning. She is such a good kid! All stuffy, woke up crying she couldn't breath. But after using the saline & a little afrin it started flowing. She was still coughing some, so I medicated her, fed her & was able to get her to school about 15/20 minutes late. She didn't even complain about going.

Good morning. I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've been having some problems of the female kind. I saw my ob/gyn yesterday and scheduled an ultrasound for Friday morning.

Mary, I'm sorry you're having problems. If you need a shoulder to lean on or advice I know a few of us have been though all that.

Lorie, Did you check in yesterday? I've gotta keep an eye on you! Hoping we get to see you on Saturday!

Lorie, Did you check in yesterday? I've gotta keep an eye on you! Hoping we get to see you on Saturday!

I was thinking about her driving in to work this morning, I don't think she checked in yesterday......

I don't want to get too graphic, but I'm anemic from my monthly cycles (I've had 3 within the last 6 weeks). My Dr. wants to do an ultrasound on Friday so he can narrow it down to what could be the problem, then we'll go from there. I've just been so weak, its hard to get up the energy to do a lot.

Sheryl, sorry to hear about the sickness going on over there. Hope all are better soon.

Cajunmommy, Its always so real when it happens close to home. Tragic:sad1:

Cara, congratulations proud mom!!!:flower3:
