Metal detectors

Do you guys know if the metal detectors in the airport sound if you have braces?
If they don't sound, why don't they? I mean, they are metal.

no they don't sound for braces. I think braces are probably stainless steel? I know my daughter has a metal plate and screws in her ankle and it never goes off for her either.
