I'm looking for a messenger type bag (One that you wear across the body) with mesh water bottle pockets big enough to carry a larger bottle of water, or a bottled 20oz soft drink. I'd prefer it to have a pocket on each side.

I need something not too expensive. I Looked at Academy and Target this weekend but didnt find anything. I havent gone to walmart yet.

Has anyone seen a bag like this?

HI!

My husband and I both carry ones from Eddie Bauer (we have EB outlets fairly near us.... sometimes there are sales on the website and often codes available.) I like them a bit more than the Baggaline for me (though they are QUITE nice...) for a couple of reasons. First, there are a few sizes - so mine is a bit smaller, the DH's a bit bigger (I have a bad back - that's fair, right? :) ) Plus, they do both have the place for two water bottles. Second, they can be worn across the body OR around the waist - as they have a belt you can tuck away when wearing across the body. Nice to have the option - since for some rides the extra security of a waist pac is nice. But for convienence and easy access across is the way to go.
Well, happy hunting!!!

I ordered the Eagle Creek Milano from shoebuy.com using some discount codes I found in the Budget forum up here.

It holds larger water bottles than does the Baggallini.

Additional pics at ebags.

Boy Nighowlky - that is NICE!!!!! If my bad bad (which I seem to refer to a lot - or is it defer to?!) would let me wear bigger packs that would be the one.

I definately have cool-BAG envy!!!

I have this bag from Travelon: http://www.irvs.com/image.php?itemno=TC6268&src=froogle
I've also found it on other sites in color (beige with blue lining and blue with beige lining).
The water bottle holder is on one side, phone pocket on the other, with three compartments on the inside (one for camera, one for small wallet, bigger one for everything else). The back of the bag (the part against your body) actually zips open to have small pockets for CC's, DL, room keys...The strap is adjustable to wear across your body or just like a large purse.
It's perfect for me, after I tested it out with all the "park supplies" inside...

Can you fit a 20oz bottle of soda, or comparable sized water bottle in the Milano? I have Brita fill and go bottles at are about that size too.

Thanks,
Abie

Va-beer,

Do you know which of the Eddie Bauer bags you have? I am looking for one thats smaller than the typical messenger bag size that holds a laptop.

Is it the Large Guide bag on their website?

Thanks,
ABie

Just ordered the Baggalini Messenger bag at Shoebuy.com..$31 no tax free shipping. I hope I made a good choice

I know this question wasn't for me, but I'll help as best I can! :)

I actually work for Eddie Bauer and I have two bags that I plan on taking with me that I got at the outlet. (FYI -- most gear items in outlet can only be purchased in the outlet...not online, unfortunately!) I have both the Shoulder Bag and the Sling Bag. Shoulder bag is able to be worn over one shoulder or across your chest. It has a nice thin strap so it doesn't get too much in the way or get too hot. It has all kinds of compartments for stuff...front flap pocket with organizer, inside zippered pockets, one big back pocket. Also has place for one water bottle on the side. My Sling Bag has a spot for a water bottle on each side, as well as all the pockets you could ever imagine for tickets, room key, credit cards, cash, snacks, camera, etc etc. Also has a front pocket on the strap across your chest, for a cell phone...but that would bug me. I'd probably keep my cash and card there.

I wasn't sure which one I'd want or use more, so I bought both so I could use them this summer on our daytrips and figure it out before we head to Disney in November. When my DBF gets home I'll try to snag his camera from the truck and take pictures of the bags if anyone would like. They both retail for 19.99 and outlet usually has sales going on all the time, so the price could be lower on any given week.

Hope you find the perfect bag!!! popcorn:: (I know, the smiley isn't completely appropriate for the post, but he's so darn cute with his popcorn. I think the DIS needs a smiley holding the "perfect bag"!!!)

Hi Abie,

Well, I searched all over the EB site and saw nothing like what we had. I even looked at the 'outlet' part thinking maybe it would be there as an "older" item. (I just got mine - but it was at the outlet store...so who knows how long ago it was made? I'm sorry. But, that guide bag looks really nice - tempting to me, as we just got a lap top (Welcome to the 21st century Va-bear....lordy, we're behind!) So, anyway, sorry I wasn't more help - EB stuff does hold up well though (DH has had his through 2 disney trips and he uses it kind of as his MAN BAG around town with the kids! (hehe - dont tell him I called it that!)

I guess I am a total Eddie Bauer bag fan because I just realized my "travel purse" (I just call it that, it's a very small bag for tucking in my big tote or carry it as my purse when dining out on vaction, etc.. It holds things like keys, passport, whatever. I always fly with it...) is EB too!

ps - I don't work there - I just get paid a small fee to advertise for them (just kidding!)

Thank you, This is very helpful.

So the all-important question.. Is the water bottle holder large enough to hold a 20oz soda bottle or a britta fill and go (I think theu are 20-24 oz)?

Those little 8oz water bottles just wont do for me.

If so, I think I'll make trip to the outlet mall. They have a disney outlet there too so its a good excuse to buy some goodies.

Ok you guys have convinced me to take a trip to the outlet mall. Its about 15-20 minutes away. Good excuse to go to the disney outlet too. =)

I think the baggallini might not quite be it. I am hoping to find something that carries to the front/side instead of the back. Their water bottle holder looks pretty small too. Can you fit a 20oz bottle in there?

Abie

Good luck at the outlets Abie! I hope you find something good! I need to run down to Williamsburg myself soon! (Outlet shoppinig an hour from here - w/an EB, ofcourse!)Take care.

ps - don't forget to take your 20 oz bottle with you to the stores! At the very least you will be well hydrated - maybe bagless, but well hydrated!

The bag I have (the Travelon from the 3rd or 4th post) holds a 20 oz water bottle. The water bottle actually zips and unzips to hold smaller bottles as well.

My friend has the Bagalinni and it is big enough to hold the 20oz bottle. As well as about 4 more inside, the bag is that big. She also doesn't wear it on her back...she wears it so it sits near the front of her hip.

Thank you, Looks like I have a few options then =) I think I will check out Eddie Bauer this week and then order either the Baggalini or the Milano if I don't find a good one there.
