merging reservations

Doesn't it also affect you ability to book ADRs at 60+ days out?

If 2 reservations are needed for a 4 night stay (2 nights each reservation), then you would only be able to book ADRs for the first 2 days: 60 days out and 61 days out. Then 2 days later, you woukd be able to book the last 2 days of ADRs. if you had 1 reservation, all 4 days worth of ADRs could be booked 60 days from the 1st day of your reservation.

Yes. I should have added all that too no was just thinking about the stay and when OP said messing with ADRs that it would be merged after they were made and it’s cancel them.

I have one night, followed by 7 at the same resort same room category.:flower:

I just email. When they have merged it they write me. Easy.

I'm new to DVC so pardon my ignorance, but what causes this to happen?

If you have June 3-9 and you want June 3-10, why would you book a one-night reservation for June 9 rather than just modifying the original reservation in the online tool and extending it yourself?

We don't all trust DVC's modify tool. Or we have different things booked that keep us from using that.

I have cobbled together stays because I cannot find what I wanted originally, so I book things as it comes up. And then I want those merged.

I added a day at the beginning of my trip at Poly villas in April I am wondering if it is even worth it to try and merge with my ADR day coming up Feb 19 th. I don’t want it to screw things up if there is a delay. What are the disadvantages of not merging? Thoughts? And thanks!

Today is the 5th. Just email them with the details of what you want and they'll get back to you.

I know that in the past there were only some CM's that had the ability to actually do a merge without Supervisor intervention. It's a tricky process that they don't allow inexperienced CM's to do. Since many CM's are currently working from home it makes it even more difficult. In the past I've had reservations that they went ahead & merged automatically after waitlists came through and others that I had to call to request they merge. No rhyme or reason it seems. I've found in recent years that many times it's easier to get some of these things done by sending an e-mail rather than actually calling.

I requested a merge a week ago. Still waiting on it. Things are going swimmingly over at member services.

I requested a merge over a week ago. While I was on the phone this morning with my super fun banked points VGF2 mess, I asked about it and they said it's running behind.

But hey, only an hour on the phone to fix their mistakes, still feeling pretty magical.

And waitlist is now working, so I'll take it? I think?

I have been waiting over two weeks to have two reservation merged.
It is NOT done by the MS rep on the phone, it is done by the back office staff.
I was told, that MS rep on the phone now have to send a e-mail to the back office staff and they prioritize the merges based off of when the check-in date is (IE: Next week comes first, then next month, then sometime in the future).

Sounds like the same way waitlist matches are processed - priority is based on check-in date, which is why calling often reveals a match that hasn't yet been processed. As a former call center manager, this is a tactic that helps reduce hold times. Good reps take time to hire and train, and businesses seldom staff to handle the peaks.

That said, it's hard to excuse DVCMC for its poor performance. It's just gone on too long, and IMO, a lot of the problems are of their own making due to the booking website..

Quite frankly, this is just something else that SHOULD be able to be done online. I don't mean requesting a merge, I mean actually performing the merge. You login, you select 2 or more reservations that are consecutive in dates with the same location and bookable category, and you click "merge."

You are talking about Disney IT, right! LOL

Two weeks tomorrow since my request to merge. I am now curious to see how long this can go on.

I have one that I requested two weeks ago today so maybe we are just seeing new levels. They said 5-7 days so I will probably give a call again.

I have never had one take that long. I wonder if your request got missed?
They gave me a new (future) reservation number at the time of request. So it def didn't get missed. Just waiting for them to get around to processing it I guess.

Maybe there is one CM who knows how to merge. The poor soul is just getting to work every morning and grinding out merges all day every day. Maybe they have had enough, and they sabotaged the system. Now, they are scrambling, trying to rebuild the backend. It's a disaster.

They have never done that for me and I merge at least 3 or 4 times a year. I always keep one of the current reservation numbers.

If it were me, I’d contact them.

Merging has been broken forever it seems. If you get a merge of two reservations feel lucky.

Just had mine merged today. Began process on May 19. Chatted couple days ago and MS said they’re backed up. Called today and was given same answer. Just looked on my dashboard and it’s complete but didn’t receive email confirmation yet.

I have a res that I need to have merged. We added a day to our Boulder Creek as a separate reservation both for a 1 bdrm w/the same view. When the merge happens will that mess up my existing park reservations?
