Merging Reservations

I’m sure this has happened to many of you before. We had a Poly/BCV split stay, but we were able to pick up the extra night at BCV in order for all nights to be be at BCV. The problem is that I have two reservations, and I would prefer not to move rooms (all are 1B stays). Can I call or email MS and ask them to merge onto one reservation? Do you all have a preferred method of making this happen (Assuming it’s even possible)? Unless I have super clear instructions, I think I’d be scared to do it online. I might be scared even with clear instructions, as I don’t want to risk losing what I have. However, I’d like to know for future reference. I appreciate everyone guidance here. It’s a very kind and helpful community.
 
If it is the exact same type of room with same guest list, then yes.
I just did that today via chat, ask to merge the 2 reservations.
 
Are both reservations using the same contract? If so, they could be combined into one reservation, but you'll need to ask MS to do that. If not the same contract, they could not be combined into one reservation, but add "continuing reservation" with the reservation number of the other on both. You could do that by email or chat if chat is working right now.

Not exactly. If different memberships they can not be combined.

But points can come from different contracts. I just did it for October. One night was with RIV points and the other with SSR points. But both were booked on my Aug UY membership so no issue.

Yeah, I was referring to different memberships or UYs.
 
I did this via email a few months ago. Took a couple of weeks to get a response but MS took care of it with no problem, and I believe they sent me an email confirm as well.

I actually did what folks here suggested and logged online and waited for the chat button to pop up. Took about 10 minutes but there it was! I was able to merge two different visits, one in July, another next March that I had pieced together by stalking, so multiple reservations on both.

I had tried emailing a few weeks ago to merge the July reservation and never received any response or change. The chat was definitely the way to go for me. Both reservations were merged and received email confirmation within an hour :teeth:

Huh, while I’ve used chat successfully in the past, I was on the DVC site for about an hour this afternoon and it never popped up. I’m on an iPad so I don’t know if that makes a difference? I did refresh many times and it was never available. So I ended up emailing 🤷🏻‍♀️

I find if I click between the help section and the member dashboard I can eventually get chat to pop up.
 
I had to call this morning to merge as I needed to book a couple more days after the merge. Got helped in 45 minutes. I felt fortunate!

But, I was meanwhile trying for chat and no go. Wouldn't pop up for me.

However, I clicked to check out the new Disney Wish, and there was chat, in my face after I had finished my merge!
 
So I’m confused about the merged reservations. We have multiple rooms for a family trip in November - I’ll personally be staying in two separate rooms, one after another date-wise. Both at the same resort but different room types. Should I be “merging” these for any reason? My understanding is that ADR’s only allow booking at 60+ for each room, not entire length of stay, correct? If so, what is the benefit of merging?

Oh OK got it! Yes I’ve done that previously as well. I misunderstood and thought some people were merging different room types. Tks!

In my case I booked a few nights using home resort points. Than I used other resort points at 7 months to build my reservation to the number of days I needed.

That required a merge to take away the possibility of a room change.

There have been times when I haven't called to merge. Mostly it's been taken care of at check in, but now that you can do online check in, it's usually more convenient to call or email or chat.
