I currently have one week reservations for a one bed-roomm villa at HH in early Nov. for me and my family of 3. My in-laws have booked a one beroom studio for the same week, but they are paying cash. Is it somehow possible to merge the two into a two bedroom villa without using any additional points? Thanks

I would make 3 way call to Member Services, with your In-laws and yourself. Check to see if a two bedroom is available. If there is availability your inlaws can transfer their studio points into your DVC account and cancel their studio ressie, and you can book the 2 bedroom, and cancel your 1 bedrom ressie, assuming you have each not had any point transfers during your respective use years, as you are limited to one transfer per use year.

You might be able to use your points to get the first few nights in the two bedroom and use their cash for the next few nights in the two bedroom. Usually you cannot use both cash and points for a single night in a single villa.

You are correct, I missed the part where the In-laws were on cash, not points. I would do as Deb & Bill suggest...if a two bedroom is available through Member Services, you can reserve some nights on points and some on cash. If you are staying over a friday or saturday night, I would reserve those on cash and use the points for the less expensive weeknights.

I do not know if they have lock off units at HH like they do at WDW, but we have had the exact situation and they put my sister and BIL (on a cash ressie) in the studio that could be locked off from our 1BR (ressie on points) and after we all checked in we just opened it up...worked out grest. But I do not remember seeing lock offs at HH...so not sure if it would work there.

There are lock-offs at HH (all 1BR villas and Studios are lock-offs and there are no dedicated for either) but they usually will not allow them to be reserved as a 2BR unless needed as an accessible villa. There are only 21 studios and 21 1BR's and they do go quickly. You can certainly request that they be connecting, but that would not be guaranteed.

I would see about using your points for as many nights in a 2BR as possible and then reserve any other nights using cash and link those together. You don't need a lock-off 2BR to have privacy since the 2nd BR can be locked from inside. The only difference will be a single exterior door (the 2nd BR will not have a separate entrance) and only one porch (the 2nd BR will not have a porch). Otherwise you will have some extra space where the kitchenette would have been in the studio. Of course, any changes made to your present reservations will be dependent on availability.

Good luck! :)
