Merchandise you wish to see or want back

haunted mansion stuff... one of the most popular attractions with the least amount of goodies

I've been looking for adult Incredibles shirts since I've been going to Disney. Of course, we just started going a few years ago, so the movie has been long done, but I would love to have one of the "I" t-shirts.

I know. We looked all over for Bolt merchandise last year (my son specifically wanted a stuffed Bolt) and all we found were some books and pins.

I found a Bolt plush at the Muppets store (well the extension of it) in DHS last March.

More Lion King and Jungle Book stuff - these were basically the two movies I grew up with.

And, I know this is highly unlikely, but I would love to see a replica of Cinderella Castle larger than the Olszewski version (which I call my own btw). I so loved the one on display inside the World of Disney store at DTD. How cool would it be if they would make this available as a high-end-ultra-expensive merchandise item. A guy can dream, right?

I would like to see good quality merchandise. The quality of pretty much everything at the parks is junk...clothes are totally inconsistent, fade/shrink, etc. and toys break.

We don't buy much at WDW at all anymore, but bought a few things 2 weeks ago as we needed some extra clothes due to the cold, and it's a good thing we know that Disney merchandise is not good and bought larger sizes, as the clothes shrunk, despite being washed in an HE washer, cold water, hung to dry.

I'm not holding my breath on this, as Disney makes a mint selling cheap stuff for high prices!

i'd defininitely like to see more resort-specific merchandise. and i'm sad that the refillable mugs are so generic.

i'd also like to see more variety in the character plushies. i remember when i was a kid, you could find ALL kinds of characters. i had a Duchess from the Aristocats, among others that you don't see anymore. i know they can't have massive amounts of every single disney character, but i'd love to see one shop with all kinds of different characters. and not the same ones over and over.

Nightlights! My Grandama used to by one everytime we went, and they only have like 2 Princess-themed ones now. She likes the classic characters and I look everytime, but to no avail.

My husband has a navy blue sweatshirt from Epcot that has a large American flag-themed Mickey head that says "Walt Disney World". Every year, we look for it and it's never around.

My husband has worn it out. My son, the Eagle Scout, really wants one. And when the Scouts in the troop saw it, they really wanted one, too.

Someone mentioned something with Mickey from each country of the World Showcase...LOVE that idea.

Resort-specific merchandise. People make serious memories of these things. And frankly, if they are pulling it all out, it's because your buyers bought stuff that people don't care about! Do some serious market research - heck just read these boards more carefully and you'll see what the people want to buy.

Here's what I want to buy at my resort:
  • tasteful t-shirt with a nice logo that fits a normal person
  • Nice polo shirt that fits a normal person
  • Christmas ornament with resort logo
  • unique postcards with resort logo
  • deck of playing cards with resort logo
  • Something with Mickey themed to my resort - could be a figurine for each resort, would make people want to collect them
  • Christmas cards themed to my resort
  • socks themed to my resort
  • Maybe a light jacket/windbreaker
  • Post-it notes themed to my resort
  • Decent pen, but not overly fancy or overpriced, themed to my resort

That's just off to the top of my head.

Have all this stuff at each resort! Do they not see the opportunity to cross-marketing here? There will be people, like myself, who will purchase these items from the resorts I stay at or have stayed at previously.

I also agree immensely with having more merchandise from classic movies and tv shows...not just what's hot right now, or just the Fab 5. It's about the whole Disney experience.

They need to be the risk-taker that Walt Disney was himself. No company gets ahead by doing what's they've always done. Bring in more loyal customers and fans by being different and giving them what they are looking for.

Off my soapbox.

The monorail magnet where you press it and it gives the Spanish "Please stand clear of the doors.." spiel. :cloud9:

what do you mean by "fits a normal person?"

Here is my list:
1. Resort specific merchandise, including the re-fillable mugs.

2. Park and attraction specific merchandise

3. Pal Mickey!

4. More original watches. I use to love collecting them!

i also want to add a better sterling charm selection. i like to buy one on each trip, but it's the same stuff that it was years ago. nothing new and nothing unique. i have a castle from MK. i'd love to see a spaceship earth from epcot, a tree of life from AK and a sorcerer's hat from HS.

it's not all tink, princess and mickey.

i'd also like to see more variety in the character plushies. i remember when i was a kid, you could find ALL kinds of characters. i had a Duchess from the Aristocats, among others that you don't see anymore. i know they can't have massive amounts of every single disney character, but i'd love to see one shop with all kinds of different characters. and not the same ones over and over.

Do you have a Disney Store near you? They usually have a pretty decent selection of plush characters - typically a good mix of 'new' and 'old' characters. Right now there's a good number of Princess and the Frog plush toys.

They used to have nice adult size ball caps with embroidered Goofy, Donald, or Grumpy.... bring those back. They used to be my DH's souvenir of choice. But we haven't found a nice ballcap in years now.

When I was growing up in the 80's, my parents always let me pick out one or two small ceramic figurines to take home. Not the big collector expensive ones, just little 3-4 inches tall, they had every character that was "new" plus the classics. I haven't been able to find any in a long time to add to my collection. I think the "newest" character I have is from the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I really wish they would bring those back!

I would love it if they would do this!! The tooth fairy at our house brings ceramic figurines instead of money...while there's a limited supply I have on hand I would love to find dd some characters from her favorite movies!

I would also like to see nicer quality princess costumes for kids...we bought a Cinderella costume for dd about 3 years ago and it was the 'deluxe' version and gorgeous - beading, tulle, brocade...the works. Ever since not a single costume I've found has been as pretty or well constructed - even the new 'deluxe' versions that come out around Halloween. I'm so glad I bought that dress too big because she can still wear it!

And I'll jump on the Peter Pan merchandise bandwagon as well...I'd love to see a Nana tee!

what do you mean by "fits a normal person?"

Considering the adult women's small fit my 3 (now 4) year old- she has 2 of them she wears as nightgowns- I'm guessing she means something that actually fits someone who has a chest.

As I sit here in my men's Polynesian T-shirt, I definitely agree with resort merchandise!! Are they really phasing it out? That would make me very sad. I always buy a T-shirt, refrigerator magnet, and usually a Christmas ornament from the resort where we are staying (I say usually because I couldn't find a Poly ornament in the gift shop last December).

I also would like to see more sweatshirts that aren't hoodies. I hate hoodies and my 4 year old tries to use the strings as a leash and chokes me.

ooh- and the tins of cinnamon mints they used to have until last year- I think the mints were shaped like Goofy

The other thing I miss the most are "grown up" pens. They used to have the best silver professional type pens with subtle Mickey head designs and things on them. I've lost or broken all of mine and I've been looking for replacements at WDW for the past few years, but no luck. I have a friend who has me look for one for her on every trip too. I loved to use those at work. I still buy the cheaper character ones that come several in a package, but I usually just use them at home.

I agree!:thumbsup2

DH has been wearing his Wilderness sweatshirt for over 10 years now!!!! :

Got him beat- I have a 15 year old WL T-shirt from my Honeymoon that I still wear! It is still in pretty good shape. I was able to find 2 new ones from our Dec. 2008 stay that I brought home from WL, but I still love that old one.

Pooh's Hunny Pots - caramel filled chocolates - yum!

Wow... Something that delicious must be illegal... Excuse me while I go drool until I pass out.

I sure hope someone is paying attention to this thread :listen: because now I really want that.

I would love adult gear with retro braclets/shirts/jackets of the classic characters like Peter Pan and/or Pinocchio. Those are my favorites <3
