Menus are changing!

Just had the new egg's Benedict at Kona which replaced the Samoan, although I miss the samoan, this eggs Benedict was fantastic, the pork belly was well trimmed and not super fatty. it was also cubed up into 1/2 inch cubes and easy to pick up with the egg and Hawaiian roll the chili citrus hollandaise was great as well and was the only apprehension I had when ordering this. We had the Butter Poached lobster Benedict at Cali Grill Brunch the night before and I may have enjoyed the new eggs Benedict at Kona a little more :crazy2:

I sincerely hope it stays on the menu when I get back there next winter.

Yeah! Score one for pork belly! :D

We ate at Kona tonight and everything was wonderful. Apparently, they've had some upset people because the waitress asked if we had been there before and when we said yes, her face dropped and she explained that they had just went through a big menu change. Then she went through every item on the menu and explained what was different. I think she was expecting us to yell but when we were like ok, Thank you....she let out a huge sigh of relief. On that note, Kona has always been my favorite restaurant on property but the service has always been horrible. However, tonight it was fantastic. I had the noodles with chicken....very good, large portion. My DH had the turkey sandwich and really liked it too. I was impressed to see that even the kids mac and cheese was homemade, no neon yellow cheese like everywhere else.

Question about new menus. At Monseiur Paul's in Epcot. On Disney's website there is no chicken entree listed. But on Allears website they have an updated May 2017 menu that lists a chicken entree. Do you think they still have the chicken, or is it only duck as on Disney's website.

We were there a couple weeks ago and there was no Chicken, just the duck.

The macadamia pancakes are always a must for me. I did make reservations again this year. I was wondering if they are eliminating the actual macadamia nut from the recipe. I know it has the macadamia butter but I like the texture of the nuts with the pancakes.

Ditto. Really hoping its the same recipe... and that the pineapple sauce is still nice and chunky! Does anyone know..?

Has anyone been to Kona Café recently. Wondered if anyone had anyone had any photos of some of the new dinner options. Specifically 'lemon grass scented airline chicken' Te Fiti's Island Mousse and Kona Mocha Verrine. I've tried searching online but can't see any photos. Wondered if anyone on here may have.

Josh from easywdw has a review of the chicken and the mousse. It's about the 5th post down on his main page.

Bonus points to anyone to who can keep a straight face and say this is done for the customer's benefit and has nothing to do with saving $$$. I will miss my steak and eggs at Kona.

Is this the next step in removing theming from the menus? Then again, as pointed out, change can be a good thing. As long as the chef does it for the right reasons. And we assume the chef is in charge.
Exactly!

I try to look at menu changes pragmatically, when all our individual favourites items came onto the menu in the first place, someone else's favourite item was probably take off the menu to make room for it. Think of the uproar on Disboards if the menus never changed, I mean EVER!
