I have never been on the DDP and am thinking about it. Sorry for the dumbo question!

Does Disney restrict *entree* choices for people on the regular DDP? For instance, something like the $59 lobster entree at Narcoossee's, would this not be an option? Just curious if you ever get a "special" menu (i.e. cheaper...) :rotfl:

Thanks!

First thing you need to do is read the 2008 DDP FAQ sticky. It will explain how the DDP works, what is covered & what is not.

Then I'd suggest researching menus and what you would order if you were on the DDP and what you would order if you were paying OOP (or with a discount).

The DDP works well for some families, and not at all for others. The more research you do, the easier it will be to decide if it works for you or not. :goodvibes

Well, some of the restaurants (like Narcoossee's) take 2 table service credits per person, so that's how they "cover" the humongous prices at the "signature" restaurants. Haven't eaten at Narcoossee's yet, so can't tell you whether that lobster is covered or not but I don't remember hearing that it's not. Seems like someone posted a review about not recommending the surf & turf, but not sure if that was at Narcoossee's or another sig. restaurant?

Anyway, we have eaten at the California Grille on the DDP, which is also a 2 table service "signature dining experience". I don't believe anything was excluded on the menu - and seems like the steaks were in the $41 price range, and the desserts there were $10 each. In the 1 table service restaurants they do not exclude any dishes...so if you want to order the $29 tenderloin or the $16 chicken & pasta, your choice! Same with the desserts...they can be priced $3.50-10.00 or more...you still get to choose.

Lobster and surf and turf ARE available at Narcoosees on the dining plan. Eating at Narcoosees will cost you 2 table service credits per person, no matter what you order. (Narcoosees is currently the only dining plan restaurant with a lobster entree available.)

There are very few exclusions from the dining plan - and most of those involve either appetizers (for the deluxe plan - some expensive sushi appetizers at California Grill must be ordered as entrees to be covered), desserts on counter service, or special fixed price menus at a la carte restaurants that include an appetizer (since appetizers are not included on the basic dining plan). I can't think of any exclusions for entrees at table service.

Also sometimes appetizers are planned "for 2" and can only be used on DDP if 2 ppl on it both order it to be shared. They have these at raglan road
