Mental illness issues...please help--UPDATE page 3

I'm sorry for what you are going through. :grouphug:

I think you made the right choice for the right reason. Safety of your children comes first. Even so, there is a lot involved and it's hard I'm sure. You are getting pulled emotionally in a lot of directions. You are upset because you feel like you hurt your DMIL's feelings. Hopefully on some level she knows about the dangerous situation you eluded to. She needs to be aware for her and her husband's safety.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Stay strong.

I hope your DBIL will soon get medication and therapy that will help him. And I hope your DMIL & FIL will understand in the meantime.

I talked to DH and he was very supportive. I was half-afraid he would be disappointed in me for telling MIL the real reason we have not visited, but he said I had done the right thing (and was glad he didn't have to tell her himself, I think!). I still feel sad about all this but I am not so upset now.
