Hi all,

So one thing that has changed since the last time I have been to Disney is the Memory Maker.
I usually take my own photos (and usually A LOT!) and if I needed to get a group shot I would just ask a CM if they could take it.

What is the big Pros to Memory Maker? I'm going with three other people but mostly likely be with only one person most of the time.
We will be eating at a few character places and I hope to see a few of my favourite Disney characters of course.

It just seems like a lot of money for something I have always done for myself?

The only thing I can think of that I couldn't do on my own camera is to incorporate say the ghosts during MNNSHP or other characters like Tink that the CM can incorporate magically in their photos.

So can people help me out should I or shouldn't I? If I do I need to make sure I get it a week in advance so I don't miss out on 3 days of my trip and get the savings?

I also have another question. There will be four of us. Two in one room and two in another can link all of them on so they will all get photos? Or just the guest staying with me in my room ?

Big pros: all ride and meet-and-greet photos are included, as well as all pictures taken by PhotoPass photographers. You can re-size, scale, edit all of your pictures (multiple times), add borders and "stickers," and generally go crazy with them. We started out with 308 pictures after our eight day trip in April: by the time I was done playing, I had more than 1100. This in addition to 1400 I took with my camera, and another 800 my husband took.

The con: It costs $150. Well worth it for us, not so much for other people.

If your friends are linked to your MDE account, their pix will turn up on your MM, but only you can download them.

I just bit the bullet and bought this thing earlier today. It's a relief not to feel like I "better get this picture or that picture." I know key moments will get photographed now and I will have them for good. Worth the money to me.

So, with that purchase I have now bought every last trip accessory type thing they wanted me to... THEY WIN! pirate:

Absolutely worth buying! I was totally on the fence, but as soon as I explained it to DH, he asked me why I hadn't bought it yet. Anyone linked to your account can see the pictures, but only the designated "owner" of MM can download the pics.

And I assume that as I am the purchaser of the MM that I will be able to download these to my computer and make CDs for people or load flash drives for people that went with me or whatnot? My awesome father/mother in law are coming and are linked to my account. They will obviously want the pictures as well.

That is my plan. I am the "owner" so I will download everything, then burn to CD or flash drive for everyone else. We also got a photo album that we will fill with prints for MIL for Christmas since she financed the trip!

I plan to do the initial download tomorrow (we got home yesterday, so today was recovery/laundry day!), then play with borders, stickers, etc and do a final download in a couple weeks.

So I pre-purchased Memory Maker for our Sept trip. This will be our first time using it and I am wondering -how do I get started once I get to the park?

I was told by CM today that since I am on property and using magic bands that they are sending me something in the mail with instructions on how to link the MM to my account and that once that is done I am pretty much all set.

If you are not using magic bands, your procedure will be different.

Does anyone have anything to add or correct?

Be sure that everyone is on your family/friends list in MDE. Instead of burning a CD/DVD or onto a flash drive, I just gave our DD my login info and then she could do her own editing, borders, stickers, etc. I realize that some people would not want to give out their MDE login info but I had no problem with it.

I've always gotten the Photopass every trip because it was about the only way I'd be in all the pictures.

This past trip I did Memory Maker because it will be the last trip for a long time with the 4 of us.

The download is a huge PITA. I don't know if anyone else is having the same issues but I can't tell what picture is what when I tell it to Download all and they are all mixed up, not by date/time.
Then I try to organize it by date/time on my computer but the ones I added the nice borders to are considered different dates now so those aren't next to the originals automatically which is what I want.

It's driving me nuts to have to move all the pictures manually to get them put where I want them. I much prefer the CD where I didn't have these issues.

Plus I don't trust Disneys website to download all of them so I'll have to check and make sure everything actually did download. I've already found 2 pictures we had taken missing, called photopass and they can't find the pictures.

I don't think I'll be doing memory maker on my next couple of solo trips. I'll just have the photographer take pictures with my camera too and buy the 2 or 3 pictures I really want instead.

Editing is a pain as you need to save everything you do, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, boarders
But it's def cool in the end, just takes forever

On the download end, I have only hot CDs, can you download everything at once or do you need to download each picture individual?
Thanks

You download them as ZIP files, each (except the last) with 76 pictures in it (at least, that's how mine were). I had 15 of them.

I'm a little confused how this will work for me on my next trip. Going with my sister and her family. My sis does not have MDE. Both reservations show up in my account though and their names are there...I made them. So if I get MM, and their bands are scanned instead of mine, will it show up in my account?

I am on the site where you download your pictures from Memory Maker -- they are listed by park

But I don't see where you can add boarders like the old photopass+

Help, anyone! :confused3

Thanks!

HaHa!

I just figured it out!
If you just linger the cursor over the picture, the option to edit it comes up.

Maybe that will help someone else?!

:flower3:

I just added the MM to our trip yesterday. We are going for a family wedding and are going to the MNSSHP for the first time. I also liked the idea of being able to get ride photos which we have never done and being able to see our linked friends pictures too. Just remember that you have to change the friends settings so they can see your pictures.
