Memory Maker Questions

You're a good friend, to be able to laugh after that! Thanks for the insights, I was especially interested in the character part of MM.

One benefit of MM is that the photographers snap a lot of photos during the time you're visiting with the character in addition to the posed "say cheese" photo. Although they will happily use your camera for you if you'd like, they only do the posed shot with yours. I really enjoy some of the shots of us hugging, laughing with or high-fiving the characters.

Memory Maker Newbie.

  1. Do I just book one memory for my whole family or do I need one for each person? If just, one how is it linked to each person's band or is it just linked to one?
  2. Are all the photos downloadable so I can send to Shutterfly (or somewhere else) to have them printed?
  3. Are there any hidden costs I should be aware of?

1. Just one for your whole family (and extended family too). It's only linked to one account and only that person can access all the photos
2. You download the photos and are free to do whatever you want with them. When we travel with extended family we split the cost and I burn CD's of the photos for everyone who chipped in.
3. No hidden costs but the price has gone up in the past year and may do it again in the future. Buy now, it doesn't expire (until the first day you use it of course, then the 14-day clock starts)

We've just come back from 10 days at Disneyworld followed by 3 at Disneyland Anaheim, I bought the Memory Maker for the WDW portion of the trip but was surprised that we were also able to claim our photopass photos that were taken at Disneyland. I was under the impression that Photopass at WDW and DLR were seperate entities and didn't think this was possible, otherwise we would have made better use of the Photopass photographers at DLR.

I've also got to agree some of the best photo's we received on Memory Maker were the candid photos taken with the characters before the posed 'say cheese' moment, lots of hugs and smiles and disney magic shining through.

A few of our photos were kinda made into little video's. The bridge in front of Be our Guest, for instance. At Hollywood Studios, some of our photos have a Tinkerbell that actually flies in the video. Also had a photo like this in front of Epcot. I was surprised to see these. They are very short video's and only feature one photo, but cute and unexpected. I knew of the Magic Shot's, but didn't know of the little video clips.

Does anyone know how far in advance you need to purchase Memory Maker to still get the $30 off?

Only you can decide whether you think you will get enough out of MM or not, but I will say that I got it last year, and thought it was great for us. But we did some meet and greets, which I had never done before, and would probably not have done if I didn't get MM, and it was fun. If you don't do the character meets, you would need to make it a point of stopping at most of the other photographers and ride the attractions that capture photos and or videos in order to get your money's worth. Since the photos are $14.95 a piece, you would need to have more than 12 photos that you would want in order to make it worth your while. I had about 250 photos, and 90% of them were great photos. I also liked that I didn't have to lug my big camera around with me.

I kind of thought the same way as you, until my trip this year. Last year we did BBB, PL, and almost every character meet and character meal. This year, we stopped ONE time a day for a family picture and did 4 character meets. Both times we rode about the same amount of rides that have photos. We asked for a lot of magic shots last year and we only asked one time on our trip this year. We ended up with roughly the same number of pictures per day this year as we did on our last trip. For our 2 week trip, we ended up with about 600 original pictures which after edits amounts to almost 1200 pictures (and I definitely don't edit all of the pictures). We could have had many more pictures if we had cared to stop for them or had done more character meets as that is where we amassed a lot of pictures on our last trip.

So without a magicband we couldnt get photos from minetrain? We are staying off property. Should I get bracelets forthe mm?

Yes, mine train is the only ride/item that requires you to have MB to get that photo and video. I like the MB in general as your Fastpass record, Memory Maker "card" and for park entry. But you can do all of that except mine train with a card-type ticket instead - only you can decide if it's worth it to pay the extra ($12.95 I think for bands?) for the convenience and the mine train photos.

Quick question what if your trip is longer than 14 days?? Ours is 17 and we have a park day on day 15?? Does this mean we won't get those pictures? Thanks for any responses this years MM is important for us as we will utilize one of the shots for DD senior pic! Also, does this mean I have 45 days from first pic or last pic to download? Again, many thanks!:flower:

There is no time frame like there was with PP+. With MM, the only time limits you have are that the photos expire from your account 45 days after being taken. Also, from the day of your first download, you have 30 more days to take more pictures and complete your downloads. So you can really take 75 days of photos and be able to edit and download them all. PP+ (that they no longer sell) had a limit of 14 days for adding photos to the account, MM does not.

I misquoted the 14-day window, our first purchase was with the Photopass+ when those rules were in effect and I didn't realize they had changed. Here are the terms straight from Disney's website: "If Memory Maker is purchased at the advance purchase price, then the Memory Maker window begins 3 days after the date Memory Maker was purchased, and ends on the 30th day at 11:59pm Eastern Time following the date any photo or other digital content is first downloaded or you otherwise redeem your Memory Maker entitlement, whichever occurs first. All photos or other digital content captured outside of your Memory Maker window must be purchased separately."

We have MM and everyone in our group of 9 is linked to the entitlement holder, but not necessarily to everyone else. Does everyone need to be linked to everyone or is being linked with the entitlement holder enough. We are also in a villa and on one resort reservation if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

I think as long as everyone is linked to the MM holder you'll be fine. It's the holder's ability to access all the photos that's needed. Everyone linking to everyone else just allows them to see other people's photos.

I've been looking for a question about memory maker for two hours...this thread has helped but I have a very specific question and I can't be the only one with this question! maybe someone here can answer it.
If we purchase memory maker, will all three of us that are on our reservation be able to use their magic bands at photo ops? Example, if DS goes off on his own at TL can he use his MB to get pictures by himself? I'm not talking about him accessing the pics, just if he gets a pic by himself will that pic go to the memory maker we purchase?

OP, I don't mean to take over your thread, just looking for more info to your original questions :)

This is up to you actually.
If you look in the Friends and Family section you can see a place to select for everyone on your Friends and Family list to share (or not to share) Photopass photos. If they are all set to share photos, then they indeed share in the photo taking and downloading. If it's set to not share then they won't share in either.

Yes, if he is on your MDE with you, then if he scans his band, it should show up in your MM. I am the one who purchased our vacation, set up MDE, and I listed my friend that I travel with under my family, she doesn't have her own account, and she took a couple of photos without me, scanning her band, and they showed up in MM with no problem. Also if he rides a ride that offers photos, it should also show up.

Thank you both so much! That was going to be the deal breaker....we are going to purchase right now! Everyone here is so great! Thanks again!

How do they scan your mb? Do u need to tell the photographer prior to taking the shots u have the mm?
