Good Early Morning from the Magic,
I'm going to try and catch up a bit from our first day. I still haven't even got back to my blog yet.
My DW and I went to the DISmeet by the Mickey slide at 3pm yesterday afternoon and met up with some other wonderful DIS'ers. Yes, ragdoll did make it to the meet at 3pm and told us about her adventure with the alarm on her plane. We've run into DrCavin and his wonderful family several times since Friday. We had a nice time meeting others at the meet as well. I know if I were to start listing all who were there I would miss someone, and I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them out. Let me just say, it was fun finally getting to put faces to the names that I have been in touch with the past two months.
After the meet, we got ready for the muster drill. I must say, we really do like the new life jackets so much more then the older style. After the drill my family went back to our stateroom and watched from our verandah the last few passengers and luggage that was racing aboard at 4:55pm. I took a few photos and will post them later.
We had early dining and arrived for dinner at 6pm where Roberto was waiting for us, and showed us to our table #23, where we found the rest of our party already waiting for us. Roberto couldn't believe how much Angelina had changed in the past three years since he saw her last. It was so good to see him again!!! It was like seeing an old lost friend!!! Edgar was our assistant server and took excellent care of us. I was never at a loss for either water or iced tea during the meal. I ordered the Shrimp Medely, followed by the Tomato and Bail soup, then had the Herb Crusted Halibut, just for the "halibut" as my main course. I followed all that up with the White Chocolate Domes. We had some fun talk around the table during dinner, my niece Teri(Tericplus2) was sharing how overwhelmed she was being on the ship for the first time, she is having a ball onboard already. My BIL Larry(mommom&poppop0304) is also having a great time as well.
After dinner we made our way to the Welcome Aboard show, this is my 4th
DCL cruise, but the first time I made it to this show. It was a lot of fun, and we had so many laughs. We saw John Charles and Mike Super do a little of their acts, and both were quite funny. Mike Super had a 7 year old boy come up on the stage to help him with a card trick, and the little boy upstaged Mike, it was so funny. The senior officers also were introduced by Captain Tom, and we did get to see Captain Thord come out with the others.
After the show, we headed back to the stateroom to change. My DW asked if I was going to go down to the Internet Cafe to post a message, but to her surprise I said, "No, I just want to fall into bed and sleep." Which is exactly what I did, and it's the reason I was up at 3am this morning, and down here at the Internet Cafe now, while DW, DD and Dmom are still sound asleep, LOL!!!
I really don't want to get into a lot of detail just now about why we almost didn't make it on the ship yesterday, but let's just say it involved a very good friend back in New Jersey, being able to get a very much needed document out of our safety deposit box from our bank, and having that document faxed to the terminal. We started our check-in at the terminal about 10:15 and finally got the all clear that we could board at 11:30. By 11:45 we were on our way to have our boarding photo taken with the other 8 members of our group, and a few moments later, our family name(s) were announced as we entered the Magic!!! OK, now I'm getting a bit misty-eyed here as I type this, so on to happier times, and let's get the party rolling!!!!!!!
My DD did go to the 411 at The Stack, but dear old dad was fast asleep when she returned, so I don't know how that went just yet. I'm sure she will share that with me later today.
I've got a few more messages to check, so, I'm going to wrap this up for now. I'll post back when I can.
Andy
