I think I saw that the THV are 1000 sq ft, more or less...about the same as a 2 BR at SSR.
Square footage of a 2 bedroom, but broken down into 3 bedrooms. So, each bedroom is smaller than you're used to at other locations. It's tight, but not cramped.
We're really enjoying our stay here. We'll certainly come back here when we have a group of this size again.
DO you guys have your own balcony / deck or is it shared with another THV?
Are the buses doing ok?
Each treehouse has its own deck. They've also done an excellent job (from what we can see) of positioning each treehouse in such a way that no two decks overlook each other.
We're not having any issues with the buses. We've picked up on the system, and it seems to be working fine for us. We walk to Grandstand or the Carriage House sometimes, others we'll wait and take the internal treehouse bus. (It depends on how tired we are.)
Because the street is so narrow, the buses need to drive extremely slow through the THV section. This may have been the determining factor in splitting it into two bus routes.
Thanks for the pics! I am scheduled to be in the Treehouse Villas in May, but wondering if I should try to change them, My son-in-law is very tall, so are my youngest daughter and son. I am thinking I might wind up in the bunk beds. Plus my son-in-law has issues with his knees, and I have arthritis in my ankle, so re-thinking the extra walking. Has anyone ever tried to change their
DVC reservation to a different resort?
The steps to the front door have caused us a challenge when loading in luggage from the car and when loading in groceries. Aside from that, there haven't been any problems. My knee and ankle have really been acting up this trip, but I've been able to make it up the steps without any problems. They're narrow enough that you can hold both handrails at the same time.
All in all, though, I wouldn't say that we're doing a whole lot more walking at the THV than we were when we were in the last building in the Paddock (across the street from the Congress Park bus stop). If anything, the THV bus loop makes it even more convenient to get around in SSR. If you're at the Carriage House, for example, you now have a bus option to get back to the Grandstand or the THV.
SSR is a big resort. Regardless of which section you're in, there's going to be some walking. The same holds true at Old Key West, the other "condo style" DVC resort.
I've seen a few posts where folks have said they will park their scooters under the treehouse at night. This area isn't paved, but it is hard-pack covered in pine needle mulch. I don't think you'll have any problems. There's also a second outlet on the ground level, so you'll be able to plug it in without having to drape a cord down from the deck. You'll still need the extension cord, though, because the ground level outlet is around the back side of the treehouse, next to the air conditioner compressor.
Is there a BBQ grill on the deck for use? Is so, Gas or charcoal?
As I previously indicated, it's a charcoal grill. Here are some better pictures. You'll notice there's no table down here, so we've been placing things on the ground or on a step. I guess I could have carried down the folding suitcase rack and used it with the cookie sheet, but I didn't want to remove furniture from the villa.
And some addtional pictures from around the outside of our treehouse...
