Memories of our Treehouse

My family are really starting to wonder about some of the pictures I've been taking today. They really wanted to know why I'd set up the pack & play. I think they're starting to believe I've been getting too much sun.

You really made me laugh with this one! :rotfl2: Could you kindly take a 'general' pic from the front door into the living room/kitchen. I am just trying to get a mental image of the overall look and feel and would appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to help all of us live vicariously! :worship:

Birds if your still there could you snap a pic of the kitchen? Thanks in advance.

Up before the sun for Chef Mickey today. Got to watch the sunrise through the windows of the master bedroom. This picture doesn't do it justice...

Thanks for all of your pictures and your report. We will be there 11/7-14 with my DB, DSIL, niece (11) and nephew (8). I am a little nervous also about the distance. We will have a car for the first 1/2 of the trip. We won't be arriving until about 6:00pm on ME. I have requested a few different room #s. I have never done online check in but I may try it this time.

Thanks for the pictures. I don't thing we'll be staying in the THV, but I wanted to see a picture of the chair and the sofa bed opened, and especially the chair with someone sleeping on it. Thanks Kevin. I figure this must be the same as AKV. Thanks.

Thanks so much for your pictures and report. We leave tomorrow and check in to the treehouses on Monday. We can't wait to get back to Disney:cool1:

Thank you so much for those great pics! We will be there in early Sept. and cannot WAIT. My son always likes sleeping on the sofabeds(go figure) and I was glad to see the picture of that and the sleeper chair. Wheeeeee!:goodvibes

Thanks for the pics Dave.

DO you guys have your own balcony / deck or is it shared with another THV?

Are the buses doing ok?

Thanks

:rotfl2::rotfl2:I've been there too! My family can't imagine WHY I would take pictures of the entire villa (including shower stall, of course), and won't let them move their stuff in til I'm done. They figured I've cracked awhile ago!;)

Thank you for alll the pictures. It seems very peaceful and relaxing, with that "camping" feel.

Does anyone know the square footage of the THV, especially in comparison to SSR villas?

Birds, you've used the term "tight fit" a couple of times, and I'm just wondering if it's much smaller than the SSR rooms??:confused3

Thanks again, I'm enjoying the post and the chance to learn alittle more about the different DVC accommodations! Have a great trip!

I think I saw that the THV are 1000 sq ft, more or less...about the same as a 2 BR at SSR.

Thanks for the pics! I am scheduled to be in the Treehouse Villas in May, but wondering if I should try to change them, My son-in-law is very tall, so are my youngest daughter and son. I am thinking I might wind up in the bunk beds. Plus my son-in-law has issues with his knees, and I have arthritis in my ankle, so re-thinking the extra walking. Has anyone ever tried to change their DVC reservation to a different resort?

Yes, 2 bedroom size equivalent and point equivalent. That is why I am so excited to have the THV option especially for family gatherings. The positives far outweigh the negatives considering I am able to host family for the holidays at WDW and not use Grand Villa points to do so.:thumbsup2

Even 3 studios would cost more during this time so I am more than thrilled:cool1:

Square footage of a 2 bedroom, but broken down into 3 bedrooms. So, each bedroom is smaller than you're used to at other locations. It's tight, but not cramped.

We're really enjoying our stay here. We'll certainly come back here when we have a group of this size again.

Each treehouse has its own deck. They've also done an excellent job (from what we can see) of positioning each treehouse in such a way that no two decks overlook each other.

We're not having any issues with the buses. We've picked up on the system, and it seems to be working fine for us. We walk to Grandstand or the Carriage House sometimes, others we'll wait and take the internal treehouse bus. (It depends on how tired we are.)

Because the street is so narrow, the buses need to drive extremely slow through the THV section. This may have been the determining factor in splitting it into two bus routes.

The steps to the front door have caused us a challenge when loading in luggage from the car and when loading in groceries. Aside from that, there haven't been any problems. My knee and ankle have really been acting up this trip, but I've been able to make it up the steps without any problems. They're narrow enough that you can hold both handrails at the same time.

All in all, though, I wouldn't say that we're doing a whole lot more walking at the THV than we were when we were in the last building in the Paddock (across the street from the Congress Park bus stop). If anything, the THV bus loop makes it even more convenient to get around in SSR. If you're at the Carriage House, for example, you now have a bus option to get back to the Grandstand or the THV.

SSR is a big resort. Regardless of which section you're in, there's going to be some walking. The same holds true at Old Key West, the other "condo style" DVC resort.

I've seen a few posts where folks have said they will park their scooters under the treehouse at night. This area isn't paved, but it is hard-pack covered in pine needle mulch. I don't think you'll have any problems. There's also a second outlet on the ground level, so you'll be able to plug it in without having to drape a cord down from the deck. You'll still need the extension cord, though, because the ground level outlet is around the back side of the treehouse, next to the air conditioner compressor.

Is there a BBQ grill on the deck for use? Is so, Gas or charcoal?
As I previously indicated, it's a charcoal grill. Here are some better pictures. You'll notice there's no table down here, so we've been placing things on the ground or on a step. I guess I could have carried down the folding suitcase rack and used it with the cookie sheet, but I didn't want to remove furniture from the villa.

ABout how far of a walk is it to Grandstand from the THV?

Looking forward to enjoying the spa at the THV quiet pool? Let me save you some frustration and potential embarassment.

The post next to the spa has two buttons on it. One is a round red button. Pushing this sets off an emergency bell to indicate there is a problem at the pool area. The bell is very loud, and very embarassing to the person who presses it by mistake. Enough said. (It wasn't me, but it was someone from my group.)

The other side of the post has the control for the spa. There's no sign on either button. There is a hand-written label on a piece of masking tape.

After the comotion at the pool, I made note to the CM that there really should be some better, more professional signs on the two buttons.

The timer on the spa is not the typical twist and it runs timer. It's an electronic version. We kept setting it, and it would only run for 5 minutes at a time. Then I finally worked out the trick. Press it once to turn on the jets. Once they're on, press and hold the button a second time to add time. The trick is to press and hold. If you just press it repeatedly, it toggles between on and off.

Thanks for all the photos and especially the spa button advice! I don't know when we'll get to stay at the THV, but I know we have it on our DVC agenda.

My DH is wondering if there is a soda vending machine and an ice machine at the pool house? TIA we are really enjoying your reports. So much info! Also where does that bridge go? OKW or DTD? Thanks again
