Dh and I are planning a vow renewal for Dec 2011 with our three children dd 6 and dd and ds 2. The Memories collection seems perfect, however as I run the numbers I see that with the 20 per cent discount on Escape packages it may be the better deal. The way I figure it is this: we get Ap vouchers, and a cake with Escape. We'd be buying passes any way (value $780 taking into account our DVC discount). We would also get a cake anyway. The Escape cake is valued at $200. If you subtract these from the cost of the Escape package it separates memories and escape by about $800 give or take. The benefits of the Escape are: can choose any day, upgraded venue, better pics and bevs included. My question is. Do you think that is worth the extra money or do we stick with memories and just buy passes and cake as planned and go with the Saturday/Sunday limitation. We are planning for GF with tea following. On Escape we'd do Wilderness Lodge and travel to GF for tea later. Thoughts. Hope this isn't too garbled.

Some other things to consider:

  • You can get a fancy fondant-covered 1-tier cake (feeds 10-12) delivered to your GF tea for about $100
  • Disney has been letting Memories couples hold their events on days other than Saturday/Sunday
  • Escape doesn't give you better pix, you just get more images and more products, along with the option to add an MK Bridal Portrait (if that's important to you)

If you want something super-casual and low-maintenance, Memories is the way to go.

If you want more choice and options for personalization, I say go with the Escape.

Thanks Lurkyloo. I have you wedding ebook. Is there somewhere I can get updates? Do you think that the GF would do a cake themed to Up? Also with a memories VR would the florist be able to add balloons for the children to carry? I'd like to go for a subtle Up theme. It's great to hear that I might be able to do the VR on a day other than Sat or Sun. I'm thinking Friday the 16th December at 3pm followed by a 4:25ADR at Garden View for tea. I think the three pics from the package will be enough as my sister is a photographer. I'll have her shoot the day too and we'll use her work. That's of course if Disney will let me.

Hi!
Thanks Lurkyloo. I have you wedding ebook. Is there somewhere I can get updates?

Yes! Just log back into your account in the PassPorter store and find the order where you purchased the book. On the order info page is a link to re-download the book. You can find out when the book has been updated by following its page on Facebook or signing up for the free PassPorter newsletter. :thumbsup2

You can contact Private Dining at the GF (407-824-1951) to order the cake. I always suggest looking for inspiration pictures on the Internet and emailing those in so the bakery knows exactly what you have in mind. The GF does a really good job with fancy cakes. :goodvibes

Disney Floral & Gifts provides balloons for its room-decoration and gift basket services, so I don't see why they couldn't sell you a few for the kids. What a great idea!

Does the escape package minimum noted on line of roughly $4900 include a hotel room?

This seems like the perfect post to come out of hiding for the first time since the Memories Collection is one of the things being discussed/asked about here.

I'd actually like to know more about the Memories Collections since it seems like I can find tons and tons of info about Escape but nothing about Memories at all. It doesn't even look like the official website has much to say about it.

Hi - accommodation is not included in the Escape package, and you are required to book a minimum 4 night stay at a Disney owned and operated hotel (you need to supply DFTW with your reservation number before you can confirm your package).

Hi! You've probably already seen it, but the official DFTW information about Memories weddings can be found here: http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/weddings/florida/escape/memoriespackage/detail

You may also find this thread on the board, dedicated to Memories weddings, helpful: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2648582

And finally i would recommend to both of you purchasing the Passporters Disney wedding book (www.passporters.com). I'm planning an Escape wedding at the moment and have found it super helpful! It answered most of the questions I had before I got a chance to ask them on the boards! I downloaded the ebook. :thumbsup2

Can you not do a MK shoot with a memories wedding? A memories bride posted her wedding pack on the memories chatter thread and there were MK shoots detalied in it. I can't see why they'd give you info on MK shoots if you can't have one.

That's a good question. They also sent me info on a MK shoot when I was planning our vow renewal last fall. :confused3

Yes, you can book an MK Portrait Session with a Memories Collection event. This is one of those things that changed between the initial announcement and the actual implementation of the packages.

Also, DPS just introduced the option to add a disc of archival images (i.e., printable up to 30x40 inches) to the Memories Collection for $500. Whether or not you can have them put your MK portraits on the disc with the wedding photos is still in flux, but you can definitely ask about it.
