Hello! Bear with the advance planning, but I know you guys get it! We are looking at taking our first visit to the World in early June 2017. My kiddos will be 5 and 6.5 at the time of travel. We are likely going Friday-Sunday, 9 nights but coming from AZ travel days are long. 6 park days and 2 "break/resort/DTD days" following a two days on, one day off schedule. Due to school schedules (theirs and mine, I am a teacher) and DVC point dates- we are looking at the following scenarios:
Fri May 26- Sun June 4, this starts our trip on Memorial Day weekend and ends it on Gay Days weekend. Gay Days is only an issue for us from a crowd perspective.
Pros- We won't be there during the entire TiW blockout period so we can use that 20% discount in the first few days for CRT and Chef Mickey's or 1900 Park Faire. The discount is blocked out after May 31ish so we would eat there early in the trip to maximize this. We are frontloading our MK and Epcot time while we stay at a Monorail DVC (likely BLT, assuming we can get it obviously)- this scenario does not have Gay Day crowds impacting those parks.
Cons- Potentially two very crowded weekends with a more crowded week in between? Not sure about this- looking for input. Leaves right after school gets out, potentially I may stop teaching that year and need to move my classroom out... but that is not for sure.
OR
Friday June 2-Sun June 11
Pros- Only one "holiday" weekend, maybe the weekdays following will be less crowded? Not so tight with school ending
Cons- We would likely not do TiW if we went this week, without CRT and the character meal counting, we would likely be right at the break even point. It looks like Sat is traditionally Gay Days at MK. This would change our touring to Epcot/MK/off/MK (basically switching the first two days). There is a slightly anticlimactic feel to starting at Epcot given my kids' ages. The final night is when the DVC points increase for the summer season. It's only one night so not a deal breaker, but a slight factor.
Any thoughts or insight you can give me? Thanks in advance!!
