Members's cruise

Still waiting for my docs to show up!

I would definitely call. I called after many people on this thread started reporting receipt of their documents and as it turned out, my documents apparently had not been prepared/sent yet. Fortunately, I have now received them.

The good news is that we really don't need them but it still feels sooo good to actually have them in hand.

Have you read Christine Feehan's stuff?
Love her Carpathian series. Thanks for the reminder. I'm gonna run to the used bookstore to see if I can pick up some I haven't read yet to bring on the cruise. Can't beat good trashy Carpathian romance as a cruise/beach read. :)

Hooray! It just feels so good to have them in hand, doesn't it?

I can't believe we're two weeks away already! It seemed so far away and now it is practically here!!! :yay:

Did any of you purchase trip insurance for this cruise?

We always purchase the AAA policy that has medical coverage for medical evacuation. This typically includes some coverage for baggage delay, trip interruption, etc. Never want to take a chance in case medi vac is ever needed.

Actually, it will be a sea day. We stop at CC on Monday and Wednesday (weather permitting).

I am thrilled that we have a Cabana at CC one of the days. Can't wait!!

Pink = Not sure if they are actually offering their room, or just plan to tour?

The people from the rooms being toured will get together somewhere after we see the Day at Sea Navigator. Together we will decide on a 3 (?) hour time slot to hold the whole event. This time will then be posted on my door. We will establish a location & time to meet afterwards, too.

I will arrange the rooms in order of viewing. Everyone will show up at the first room at the posted time. The people from the second room will tour first, followed by the people from the third room, etc. This way the second room is open and ready for the next room tour. I would say that people might as well advance to the next room on their own or in small groups to keep things moving along. The room being toured knows everyone is through when the host from the previous room shows up (maybe plus 5 minutes). After the final room, we will gather at the designated time/location for a social gathering and prize awards. Anyone who has other stuff to do won’t need to attend. Even those playing poker aren’t required to attend, unless you think you have a winning hand.

For those who want to play a hand of Poker along the way, I’m thinking of having a $2 entry fee. I will give each room a deck of cards to draw from. There will be no draw at the end, so novice players have just as good a chance of winning as anyone, and we can help them determine their hand. The winner will take 2/3 of the pot and second place 1/3. If there is an odd dollar left over, it will go to the worst hand.

It would be nice to have Category 6, 8, 9, and 11 rooms to tour too (and really nice to have a Cat "T" or "R"). Especially since we have a lot of Cat 4 and 5's, which I think will all be the same within each category. That way we could eliminate possible duplication of room types.

Hi John,

We're in one of the forward HA Cat 9A staterooms and I might be able to get the go ahead for our room to be part of the tour, however, I really don't want to devote 3 hours doing this. Would we be able to work something out perhaps, so you'd have this category on the tour but we wouldn't have to give you such a long time commitment? Contingent, of course, on getting the okay from my traveling companion?

Hi Pam,

I'm guessing it will take 3 hours for those to walk through all the rooms. Each room would probably be occupied, maybe a half hour at most. It would be easiest on you if we start with your room, and we (all the hosts) will meet onboard somewhere to determine the start time, once we see the Navigator schedule for the Day at Sea.

So you don't want to tour everyone else's cabins? We'd be happy to have you along.

PS I just figured out "HA" is Handycap Accesible! That would be a very cool room to tour! Please tell Brian I am really excited, and asked his permission with a "Pretty Please". Keep me posted.

Do you really think it will take 3 hours? I can't see spending more than 5-10 minutes in a room. They're not that big. :rotfl:But I've never done a room tour before,

 I've never done a room tour either!

That's what I think, no more than 5 minutes per two couples per room. And maybe 5 minutes to walk between rooms on average. That means that 40 people could tour one room in under 50 minutes. But it's a continuous flow, so the first people are on to the next rooms.

Let's say we end up with 10 rooms (probably will be less, because I want to reduce some duplication). If it takes 10 minutes to see one room including travel to the next, it will take the first couple 100 minutes (1h 40min) to make the whole tour. Then it will take the last couple another 50 minutes to catch up. So maybe 2 and a half hours for the whole tour to pass through.

The nice thing is, knowing that there is probably a 30 minute window at the first stop, it will allow people a little bit of flexibility as to when to start their personal tour.

Thanks for asking Terri. I never really worked this out before. Really I thought we could do it in 2 hours, but got nervous and decided to find a 3 hour time slot just in case. Some people like Ian may slow down if we pass too close to a bar and some will need a potty break. What's more my guesstimation might be off.

Each host will only need to be in their room for 30 to 45 minutes. It will just take 2 to 2.5 hours in order for the whole group to pass through every room. And maybe only 1.5 to 2 of each tourist's time (plus the lounge social, if interested)

Well, since I was fortunate to be able to sail the Dream in January, I've already had an opportunity to see most of the different types of staterooms so spending a few hours touring them doesn't have the same appeal that it might if this was my first time on the ship. Plus, because I so rarely get the opportunity to sail for more than 3 nights, I almost never get to enjoy a sea day.

I will discuss the situation with Brian and see how he feels - he is not a DISer and this is his vacation too. I'll definately let you know what he says.
