Just 44 more days until the Member's cruise. This will be our second and this one is on the Dream. I have been watching it come in and go out on the new HD webcam. We are heading down the day before to make sure we do not miss the boat. A few years ago we tried to take a cruise on another cruise line and had a problem with our flight(plane broke) we missed our ship and decided then to never fly in the day of. This is also the reason we decided to buy into DVC(long story). We are taking a extra suitcase because of all the stuff they give you and are so looking forward to this cruise. We are flying Southwest and they now are part of the deal(can't remember the name) where they pick up your luggage the last night of the cruise and send it on through to your final destination and place your boarding pass on your door. That will be nice......smjj

Have a great time! The MC fell on my first day of school, and I just couldn't bring myself to do that. So, the weekend before DH and I are doing a 3 night RCCL cruise that stops at Nassau and their private island. We did that cruise last year, and enjoyed it. It's not DCL, it's not the MC, but it's good enough for me, this time!:yay:

Enjoy your trip! We leave for the member cruise on 11/10 and that will be our first cruise. We are very excited, but being a newbie, (very nervous too!) If you get a chance, post some details of your trip and pics when you get back.

Have fun!

I posted here because that thread has turned into a chat room for all things but the cruise. I have posted questions or comments there and they tend to get lost and never answered....smjj

I hope you get your questions answered. I've always found the DVC boards to be most helpful after I've given up getting something answered on other boards.:goodvibes

Thanks, yeah I know. I was going to that thread daily and finally just gave up.. This will be our second Member's Cruise and first time on the Dream. We have actually taken three Disney cruises and this will be our fourth. We are so excited about this one and the new ship and all. Sorry you were unable to book it due to school. Just prior to this cruise there is a DIS meet in Indy we are going to. It was a lot of fun last year and we met a lot of folks who post here. It's always fun to meet people you see posting here...smjj

Sorry to hear that. I've gotten a lot of info from those threads and have met some wonderful people. What was your question?

Does the member cruise count towards your silver/gold/platinum status? I would assume not but I thought I'd ask.

When the kids finally leave for college, Member cruise here we come :cool1:

Hi smjj!

The Member Cruise threads on the meets boards are challenging, aren't they? There are lots of great people having fun there but sometimes it can be really difficult to sort through everything and find the information/answers you are looking for. I swear those have to be the fastest moving threads on the history of the DISBoards. :)

This will be my second time on the Dream and my first member cruise. I'm super excited that we're finally getting close! I just found a great cocktail dress for dinner at Palo - now I just need some great shoes to go with it. :rotfl:

I hope to run into you at some point on board the ship! Happy planning and DREAMing!

I got a earlier this past week that my name came up on the waitlist so I will be on there also - the member cruises have been alot of fun and I'm hoping there's some celebrating with it being DVC's 20th anniversary!!! We shall see - very soon! Hope to see you onboard!!!

Thanks, boy you sure don't have far to go do you. This will be our first time on the Dream, our second Member's Cruise and our fourth Disney cruise overall. Maybe we will see each other onboard...smjj:)

Sometimes I think being so close makes it harder to get out the door, lol. Since I don't have to fly or drive a long distance, it is easy to procrastinate with planning and stuff. When we sailed in January, we had every intention of being on the ship as early as possible but then decided we had to get mani-pedis first and run into Target since it was right there, etc. so we didn't end up getting to the Port until around 2pm.

Looking forward to sailing with you in six weeks!

Still pretty new to DVC. Have not taken our first trip home yet!!

Therefore please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly is a member`s cruise? Is is for members only? Do we get special pricing? What is so great about it?

DVC charters the entire ship so you have to be a member to book the cruise. The pricing is not special, it's more expensive that a regular DCL cruise. In addition to the normal ship entertainment, DVC brings in special guests and additional entertainment. They will leave gifts in the stateroom each day. If you are looking to add on to your membership, they usually have some of the best incentives during the cruise. Based on the DCL schedule, the 2012 Member Cruise will probably sail 9/16-9/20 and should be officially announced during this years cruise. The booking date will be announced later and the cruise will sell out in one day.

The SS Member Cruise is an annual cruise exclusively for DVC members. DVC charters a sail date from DCL and the sailing is open only to DVC members and their guests. Typically it is a 4-night sailing departing on a Sunday. Lots of guides and DVC execs on the sailing with opportunities to buy more points. From what I've heard, there is usually a special guest or two as well.

There is "special" pricing, which translates to higher than normal due to all the SWAG and stuff they give out. But everyone says they're pretty great cruises.

Sounds like a great opportunity to meet fellow DVC members!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Whats not to like, I would imagine! A great ship, great conversation with members, a lot of "freebies" and great entertainment!:goodvibes:banana:

Will consider a member cruise in the future! For now, can't wait my Disney Dream sailing!!!!!!!!!!:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Yeah, the points to sail are a lot. I have not done the math so I will defer to those who say it is more expensive. Having said that we loved the last Member's Cruise we went on and that is why we are going again. They leave nice things in your cabin each day and the year we went we both got nice stuff but the picture albums they left were VERY nice. We like talking to fellow DVC members and the two stops at Castaway Cay is a real winner for us. After all this is what it is all about right??..smjj
