Membership Magic Beyond

As well as how many points needed to purchase AP or renew? I just renewed my last month so good for another year. Might have been something to think about here - as well as the pricing for the tickets.

Hopefully someone will start posting any/more details if they purchased this additional "benefit/membership".
People have been told by CM's at MS that the cost for AP will be 95 points for new and 80 points for renewal. But, nothing yet confirmed by DVC in terms of updates to the program's information.

My renewal is up March 2nd, so I plan on doing this once I am able to do it, assuming the 80 point renewal rate is correct!

Yikes, I was hoping that DVC was going to value the points higher than that. I would think that most people wouldn't be able to take advantage of that part of the MMB package

It definitely will be workable for a smaller population and that would be owners with a decent number of points.

We have 900 and 575 are direct points so plenty for me to give up 80 to save the cost, especially next year!

While the amount is less than what I could get for a rental, it’s more than my MFs so I see it as a win win for me

Yeah; as long as priced to cover MF+original PP cost - it's a swap out -

Any more than that is gravy and balance that with ability to rent out -- makes sense from Disney to offer this up and free up space from them to wiggle/sale more/cash price cow.

Wish they would do same for DLR.

Ouch, this doesn’t seem like a good deal, unless im missing something? Sorcerer pass is $1,079, at 80 points that would be a value of $13.49 per point. Why not sell them for $20 pp and buy the pass direct and pocket the difference?

I am still angry about Top of the World…BLT is my home resort…I have to tell myself it never existed and to forget about it.
They pissed me off so much with the long horrible construction mess to change FWV to the name I still can not say (BRV) I sold my points !
I feel sorry for the people buying in nowadays … and for the people trying to unload their points! There is a lot on the resale market.
I think it may be time to find your points a new home. Life is too short to be angry about where you vacation.

After income taxes, that $20 isn’t $20 anymore. The difference might not be that large for some people to go through the hassle of renting.

Not a great value nevertheless, but not all people are looking to maximize everything in life.

Because I don’t want to deal with a rental to a stranger? First I’d never get that because I would use a broker…second, I’d have to claim it on my taxes….and more importantly, when I do have extra points and rent them, it’s to family or friends who are not traveling when I travel…don’t charge when they do…and I never collect more than MFs.

$13.49 is more than the VGF MFs that will be used. The value of my points is in using them for vacation and now I get to use them for more than the room, which means that $1k now covers a lot of my food and drinks on my solo trips.

So, for me, this program is a huge win and works. Plus, I have shared,I paid $99 to add on memory maker to my AP every year but really do not need to have it for every trip so what I will get with this programs works just as well.

ETA: I am also someone who stays in a 1 bedroom when I am solo…which many would see as a huge waste of points…but, now, all I need to do is stay in a studio for one of those trips and it’s a wash with my points situation!

It definitely will be. Right now, I am at 250 and will hopefully be where you are someday lol. The more points the better, IMO as we can swap them out for a whole bunch of other vacations besides Disney.

Overall, I think the package is a great value, and for people like you, it 1000% makes sense to go ahead and swap out points, I just selfishly wish that maybe it would have cost 50 points haha. As you said, you could have gotten more by renting them out through a broker for $18 a point, but then there are added hassles. I'm just surprised they sent out the mailer without a bit more information.

I intend to buy - why - I’m not sure…just renewed my AP in Nov, travel solo and no one else lives in my household, never go to the lounges, don’t have my picture taken and haven’t bought OTU points in a couple years…guess it must be FOMO 😂 - but like Sandi, I’m points rich and will definitely use points to renew my AP next year!

We just saw in person the 1 bedroom model of the new Poly rooms, I mean we always stay in a studio since its just the 2 of us, but those rooms had me rethinking if we needed more points at the Poly!

Moving my thoughts over to this thread:

As much as I hate the money grab, I am a DL local and go to the lounge at least twice a month. The waits recently have been challenging in the afternoon because people camp out for hours inside for their "free" Cokes. I have a neurodivergent child and husband who both really benefit from the calm and quiet inside the lounge. A quick break has made our visits so much better overall for our family.

I'll spend the $99 just to get priority lounge access.

I'm also very curious on the pricing on the discounted tickets.

A 5 day base ticket for my dates for next spring is priced at $700. The 4 day 4 park specially priced magic ticket last year was priced at $396. Will this special weekday ticket be discounted similarly to the 4 park magic ticket? Or will it be some ridiculous discount like $20 off?
I am curious about this too. I can't find the price anywhere. And I don't see any information about paying for annual passes with points. Which Annual Pass? And how many points?

Confused

No details other than what's posted have been released. I guess we shall find out by 12/3...hopefully

Just curious if you think they will allow you to use banked/borrowed points or only ones from your current allotment?

I’m going to guess you can use banked and borrowed as they do allow that when you trade for cruises.

I also think that only direct points will be eligible, similar again to trades for cruises where only certain points can be used.

If they do allow resale points, then my guess would be the same rules as cruises, etc…those bought prior to 2012.

But these are just guesses!

the otu points are the best benefit for us and the $99 is a tiny cost. $99 a YEAR…

I will buy the points and if the tickets are discounted enough, the tickets also.

If paying the $99 gets me a better chance at registering for the Moonlight Magic events….that will be awesome!

Breaks in the lounges are good to recharge.

The thing about it being only $99, everyone eligible will probably buy it. And some of those not eligible will gripe about it not being an option for them-even though they saved THOUSANDS by buying resale.
