Membership Magic Beyond

When someone drops 40k on a 200pt contract, or god forbid, does that multiple times...They are put in a position where they have to support basically everything DVC does in order to continue to feel good about that financial commitment.
I’m confused….everyone here who has an opinion that this program isn’t a good one for the membership has spent money on DVC, haven’t they?

You seem to be implying that those of us who have determined this program is a good option for owners are only doing so because we need to “justify” our purchase and not that it’s because it offers owners some benefits that we see as valuable?

Where does DVC say they're going to kick everyone out of the lounge except folks who buy this package during character interactions?
I haven't seen that it does. We don't have enough facts on this, just lots of people jumping to conclusions.

Honestly, to me, the lounges are the least interesting "perk" to me in this whole thing. In all of my trips, I have visited a lounge once. I don't see what the fuss is about here honestly. "free" soda and a small bag of chips? For all the hype I'd expect massaging recliner chairs and club level type food offerings.

Re the tiers. This isn't new. Think club level/concierge type rooms. You used to be able to pay more for those rooms and then pay an additional fee for extra FP or something right?

Much like everything else any company offers, there will be some who see a benefit and others who do not. Personally, I'm hopeful that the discount 5 day tickets are a decent discount. There are 7 of us, and we don't generally go on weekends, so this could be well worth the $99 for us. Add on the MM, and I'm sold! We've never done OTU, and don't have enough points to throw at AP's, or really even to make multiple trips to get use out of AP's. But I'm already buying tickets an MM anyway, so it could have value to me. When it inevitable gets more expensive, maybe it won't. But in no way do I begrudge anyone else who buys it, To me, this isn't any different that the tiers for Southwest card holders. I pay an additional fee to have upgraded boarding, accumulate points faster, have A boarding and companion pass. For us, that fee is worth it for what we get. For someone who flies once a year, it probably isn't.

Premier Pass LL was released in a very similar way. It doesn’t make sense for everybody and Disney isn’t selling it to everybody (must book deluxe room first). Might sound odd. Why wouldn’t they just give access to everyone? I think because they’re directing it into a segment they expect getting the best returns on, ALL things considered.

This is the same for both PPLL and MM Beyond.

They aren't selling it to all because they wanted to start to differentiate deluxe hotels again. It's an odd approach and shows you just how few perks they have to play with as the uptake it likely to be minimal.

Yep. I don't see how they could offer it to Value and Moderate level guests without cannibalizing their deluxe resorts. If you could book a Value/Moderate + Premier Pass for around the same as just a Deluxe room, the cash side of the Deluxe resorts would be pretty barren. I could see a lot of people downgrading their room and buying some premier passes instead of staying Deluxe. What's better, premier passes for a couple days or a day or two with extended hours? They need more help filling cash Deluxe rooms, not incentives for people to downgrade to Value/Moderates. They have needed better extra perks for Deluxe for a while now

I got a callback from MS yesterday and they were pretty apologetic about excluding International owners but no date when this would be resolved
They said quite a few times that was just a trial and depending on how many take it up and feedback from owners whether it will continue.

I explained I wouldn’t want to buy it anyway as the principle of asking for money for membership extras was concerning

I took the opportunity to talk about all the free things that went away, Magical Express, Fastpass, the insane cost of ILL Premier for a family of 4 etc and this was an example of priority lounge access being offered to those who again open their wallets
It was a very friendly call and I was assured this was getting fed back to the managers that created MMB
Do I think they will get rid of this?
No, because it’s a new income stream coming in and why would they turn that tap off

Even if the MMB income stream is cut off and they offer it to us for free, they will find ways to monetize and maybe even more - a fee on the 5-weekday discount ticket that we won't even notice, a $95 transaction fee for using your points to buy APs, or a "discount" of $95 for Memory Maker... The list can go on...

Regarding the lounge access. Obviously YMMV, and it isn’t the dead of summer which I imagine will be a big draw. But we are here today on a very busy food and wine weekend and at 1:45 there was a small wait. She said the longest anyone had waited today was 7 minutes. We clocked in at 11 minutes. I expected it to be an hour or more based on how busy the park is.

This was our very first visit. Major kiddos to Disney for having allergy friendly snacks. You just have to ask and DW got hooked up.

What great benefit but as of now I don’t see the benefit in paying extra for the lounge portion of the benefit.

I am still angry about Top of the World…BLT is my home resort…I have to tell myself it never existed and to forget about it.
They pissed me off so much with the long horrible construction mess to change FWV to the name I still can not say (BRV) I sold my points !
I feel sorry for the people buying in nowadays … and for the people trying to unload their points! There is a lot on the resale market.

We got this too. Surprised we don't know pricing yet for the park tickets knowing it goes on sale in a couple weeks
As well as how many points needed to purchase AP or renew? I just renewed my last month so good for another year. Might have been something to think about here - as well as the pricing for the tickets.

Hopefully someone will start posting any/more details if they purchased this additional "benefit/membership".
