Membership Magic Beyond

You mentioned resale. They wouldn't let us purchase the MMB if that membership ID didn't qualify for Membership Extras. Does the second membership ID qualify since it is the same use year?
For MMB, you need a Direct purchase contract Membership ID with the minimum number of points (which was Grandfathered in at lower points depending on the date of purchase), not a Resale contract, to qualify. If you are saying by combining Resale and Direct points into one Membership they said you cannot qualify for MMB (assuming you had enough Direct points) that does not seem correct and you might ask them if you need to separate your Direct and Resale into two IDs? I have no experience with this situation but you should ask for a manager to clarify if that is what is happening.

How do you have a second membership with the same UY, different owners?

I have setup a second membership ID with the same name and same use year (at the time of a resale purchase) - but they don't do it without a fuss ;) you do run the risk they will make you use up your one transfer in/out per year if you need points moved around. So it's something you'd have to consider carefully.
I'm not sure I follow. It's impossible to have a second membership under the same UY and the same owner name as the first one, resale or direct.

The only way I see that being possible is how you have it set up after you die being different. I think there are 4 options if I remember correctly.

I just sold one, but I had two Membership ID's - exact same name, exact same use year, different resorts. Had to request a separate Membership ID at the time I first purchased the second (resale) contract. If it had been an add-on they would have required it go under the same Membership ID. They were not happy to set it up, but did do it.

Hypothetical, is there any language in this program that allows them to adjust the price of an AP?

Let’s say in Oct. 2025 they raise the price of an AP, could they adjust the point cost for beyond members? Or would it become a better “value” later in the year if they did raise the cash price?

Why did you request to do that?

That is a great question. If the MMB pricing was locked in it could certainly bring more value to using points.

looks like they thought of that...

"
  • The number of Vacation Points required to purchase a Pass is determined by DVD. Price as expressed in the requisite number of Vacation Points includes any applicable sales tax, and may be adjusted at any time without notice, in DVD’s discretion.

Of course they did. Oh well, atleast I know they could make the adjustment

I just noticed the same is stated for the OTUP for the price being adjusted.

I also noticed everything states "From time to time" does that mean there will be a time where we can't swap our points for an AP or buy OTUP even though we paid for MMB?

I have always suspected they could pause any of the benefits of the program. My hunch is there are X amount of APs that could be bought with points. Or X amount of “BOGO” OTUP that would be allowed to be purchased.

I really hope not regarding the OTUP as I have a later use year and I already bought them for the one I'm in now...

Why would anyone ever want to do that?

My guess is that the price will be set for the benefit period. The T and C say they can set the rate but I think once it is set for the year, it won’t change.

But, they will adjust year to year…meaning 65 points for a renewal for 2025 will go up in 2026.

When it come to incidental benefits, they are always going to put that language in place because things happen and it covers them legally.

The AP is offered by Parks division and if they stopped selling them, DVC can’t sell them to a member for points.

They have to make it clear that things could change.

I do not expect DVC to do that. Program aside, they can stop selling OTU points at any time. I do think it being a paid program actually makes it less likely they stop unless it’s out of their control.

Do OTU points come from only declared or mixed declared and undeclared? Either way DVD is sitting on piles of points between Poly, Fort Wilderness, and remaining Riviera. Even if they needed to be declared points they'd just declare more to make more money from the system.
