Membership Magic Beyond

I dont mind spending $100 on useful perks. However, they don't seem to offer enough.

Discounted tickets are great, but many DVC members are annual passholders. On top of that, annual passholders get free memory maker. This might deter people away from getting annual passes, depending on the pricing. How about discounted lightning lane. A 4th lightning lane instead of just 3? One free individual lightning lane on each of those per year? Quick service discounts? So many perks that I would love and would pay extra for. Discounted dining plan?
I guess this is great if you plan to bring family and friends who aren't APs. Now you can save them some money.

so can only blue card members buy this add on? Or can non blue card members now buy this to get access? This all confuses me.

We love the lounge and I’m sure we’ll spend the $99 but it annoys me to keep having to pay more (but I’m exactly the person Disney likes because I’ll still spend the money 🤦🏼‍♀️)

You have to have 150 eligible points, which means blue card only.

I’m also curious in the ticket prices. Obviously won’t help this year, but in future years.

We are renewing my husband’s sorcerer pass this month for our trip just on the off chance that he might decide last minute to join our March trip bc it’s only $100ish to renew it (we arrive in 2 weeks after his current pass expires) and I don’t want to have up buy another set of tickets if he does decide to go. This is usually what ends up happening (renewing just in case).

You don't have to pay to access the lounge. This just gets you a fastpass IF there's a waitlist for the lounge.

Sorry, which company isn't making a money grab these days?? I mean Starbucks just announced there scaling back discounts which they have very little to begin with.
True, but some do it more discretely. Not when they look desperate with stale stock earnings.

So for me I read the bonus OTU points differently than everyone else. I am likely completely wrong. I read this as they are cutting back the OTU point to 12 points max to purchase and then allowing you to purchase 12 more as a bonus, thus upping the amount you can purchase from the current 20 to 24. But you all are right bonus is probably free... but then that makes this $99 price tag pretty low for all that you are getting and I dont trust that.
  • Bonus One-Time-Use Points
    • Get one bonus One-Time-Use Point for each One-Time-Use Point purchased! Members can purchase up to 12 Points for a total of 24 One-Time-Use Points in a Use Year. Excludes bookings offered through the hotel exchange program.

I read it that the limit remains the same at 24, but those as part of the program only need to pay for a maximum of 12.

If you don’t belong, you can still buy 24 but pay for all!

We have a bluecard but only 125 direct points I am assuming we will still be good if we choose to purchase

$99 is a very fair price I feel. Maybe they’re playing the psychology game - we will undervalue this perk in hopes to get future direct members? As a resale member I am definitely feeling the FOMO. My pea brain doesn’t care that the perk is still not worth the difference in price between direct and resale. 😂

A 5 day base ticket for my dates for next spring is priced at $700. The 4 day 4 park specially priced magic ticket last year was priced at $396. Will this special weekday ticket be discounted similarly to the 4 park magic ticket? Or will it be some ridiculous discount like $20 off?

I'm fully anticipating something ridiculous like $50 off, but the 2X 1-time usage points add-on makes this worth it.

It is for only those who are eligible for membership extras. If you have DVc Y, you can purchase and unlock the perks.

We've never purchased OTU points or memory maker. We've never stepped foot in the member lounge and we've never used our points for DCL, ABD, etc. We are already Sorcerer's pass holders. Unless we happened to be going to DL sometime this does nothing for us. I think I'll save myself $99. But I can see it being useful for some.

Y’all. It’s EXTRA. No one is making you pay for it. I don’t think there’s anything there that they took away from what already existed and put it behind a paywall. If you don’t find the additions to be useful to you, no worries save your money. Not everything introduced will appeal to or be beneficial for everyone.

I’m seeing it like buying a car. Some choose to add bells and whistles that I mostly find pointless but it makes them happy and makes their experience more enjoyable. Good for them. It doesn’t change the fact that you also bought a brand new car that functions exactly as the person who paid for all the extras, but they wanted it to have a sunroof and fancy tires.

Moving my thoughts over to this thread:

As much as I hate the money grab, I am a DL local and go to the lounge at least twice a month. The waits recently have been challenging in the afternoon because people camp out for hours inside for their "free" Cokes. I have a neurodivergent child and husband who both really benefit from the calm and quiet inside the lounge. A quick break has made our visits so much better overall for our family.

I'll spend the $99 just to get priority lounge access.

I'm also very curious on the pricing on the discounted tickets.

I have a feeling it might be somewhere in between. If I had to guess, we might see it discounted a bit more than third party vendors sell.

Best case, they discount like CMs which last I knew was a 10% discount.

But, at least IMO, any new discount for passes is a good thing. I add the membory maker to my AP…maybe now I won’t depending on how this works.

I haven’t bought OTU points often but for the current equivalent of $10/pt with this deal, it might be a nice option if I need it.

Wait - only US residents?
Will this raise the wrath of Canadian DVC owners? 😂
I’m sure they’ll fix it at the very last minute and then not tell anyone they did.

I think it’s still 24 total for everyone and they explained it poorly.
$99 is the Rollout price. Anyone want to guess, if this is popular, what it will cost in five years...?
$249.

Sorry, just $249.
