Hi everyone~

I am a new DVC member - just closed on my contract Dec. 19th. I bought 234 AKV, June UY, points direct from Disney. I am getting concerned because I still have not received my permanent membership card. When I called, I was told it would take 3-4 weeks, but since I leave in just 13 days for my trip, I am nervous I won't have it in time. How long did it take for you to get your card? And will showing only a temporary card at the restaurants to get a DVC discount be as much of a pain as I worry it will be?

Also, anyone else who just bought AKV, do you know your dues? I am wondering if when the contract 'starts' on January 29th, if I will then know my dues amount? (doesn't show on dvcmember yet since ownership does not start until the 29th) I can't remember if we have to pay prorated dues for the 07 points? Or if on the 29th we get billed for 07 and 08?

So no membership card, no planner, no dues statement... but somehow I did already get my Visa Reward $500! Go figure. :dance3:

Thanks for all the help!
Sue

A temp card should be no problem. The permanent cards are made by an outside company, and can sometimes take quite a while (why I don't know.)

Dues, like most states property taxes, are based on calendar year, not use year, so you should likely have dues prorated.

Hi and Congrat's:dance3:. Welcome home and to the boards. You should be fine w/a temp. card and concerns call MS:goodvibes. Have a great trip home:thumbsup2.

As Chuck explained, dues are paid on a calendar year basis, not a Use Year basis. Dues begin on the later of: your purchase date, the start of your initial Use Year and the occupancy date of the Unit you purchased at AKV. You mention you got 2007 points so your initial UY is June 2007 so your dues will begin on Jan 29th, the occupancy date of your Unit at AKV. Your dues will be pro-rated from that date so you will owe 337 days worth of dues for 2008. If you are paying your dues as a lump sum they will bill you sometime around the end of the month.
