Hey everybody,

I just recently purchased a DVC resale (closed on Friday) and we haven't gotten our member number yet. Is the reseller supposed to give us this or do I have to call member services??

That information will come from DVC. You can call MS to see if they have you in the system yet.

We recently closed on a resale contract. About a week after I closed, I received an email from my DVC guide giving me a website logon code. When I logged onto the site, I was able to see my DVC member number. I tried calling MS the same day I first logged on and they didn't have my information in the system yet. It took another day for it to get into the MS system. So the online system was a day ahead of the MS system.

I closed on a resale 12/23 and it took a week for them to get me into the system and hence get my member number. It then took an additional week before they got my points in the system since it's not done at the same time. I would call them each day if you are anxious to make a reservation to get your member number and you can also ask them for the codes to log into the www.dvcmember.com website. Congrats and good luck!

you could be lucky like me. I closed back in Oct and never did get a card nor the pin number. I have had dvc before so knew I could get it all, but didn;t have a need until today.
So, i called and they gave me the info by the phone, they saw in the account nothing was ever sent to me, and promised to get it(my card) in the mail asap.

I guess I am impatience. I just can't wait to finalize my plans!! We usually go to Disney every Jan. or Feb. This process has taken longer than we wanted. (Our first property was pick up by Disney in ROFR). I still want to go this year. The more time passes, the less likely that seems.

Relax... you will be buying your first add-on in no time! :thumbsup2

I am guessing about this time next week you should be able to make a reservation. If you are looking to go in Feb your choices might be limited as far as rooms available (probably forget about Pres week) and might require a split stay. I was able to book on 1/7 a stay from 1/21-25 - the first two nights are in SSR in a 1 br and the last two nights are in a 2 br. I picked up points on my contract that were to expire 1/31 but thankfully it worked out.

Depends on what the OP thinks "closed" means. I have seen all kinds of interpretations. Once Disney receives the final documents, it can take up to two weeks to establish your account, your website access, and load your points.

I suppose but typically a close on a real estate contract is the officialtransfer of ownership so it this is the case, next Friday would be two weeks. This is about what it took me to get into the system and have the points loaded. I also had some holiday time between. It's possible with changes in sales incentives and the increase in min number of purchase points that they could be processing a bunch of contracts creating a delay.

Some members think that they closed when they sent in the check, not realizing that the seller didn't even send in their signed docs yet.

Others forget that the Broker/Escrow company needs to send in the docs to Disney and that Disney needs to OK everything. Just because the Broker says that it's a done deal doesn't mean that it is, you have no way to tell.

On one of our resale purchases, the Broker said that it was a done deal and Disney told us that they hadn't received our docs yet. I complained to the Broker who contacted Escrow who said that the Docs had been sent a week ago. I finally had to contact Escrow myself and demand the FedEx tracking number. According to FedEx, the Docs had been sent the day before.

You just never know.
