We are going to WDW for Thanksgiving. We just bought into DVC this summer. It was full so we are staying at the All-Star. Is there anything we could do or get any deals being members of DVC?
We are new to this and are just learning the ropes.

One more question. I made reservations at Disneyland for next June for two rooms for two nights each. Now the other person needs to cancel. What does it mean for our points? Do they go back to the bank?

Thanks for the help.

No but there are some great discounts out there...if you are paying more then $55 for the all stars you may be able to get a better rate just check out the codes available on www.Mousesavers.com

If they were current years points you should be able to put them back into your current use year...

As a DVC member you are entitled to free valet parking at any DVC resort that offers it. Be sure you have your DVC membership card with you.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure the points are not returned to your account. They may go into a special holding account. Better call MS on this one.

You might want to think about extending your Disneyland stay or upgrading in order to use those ponts.

Points cancelled from a non-DVC reservation will go into "Reservation Status" which means they may be used only for another non-DVC reservation. They are still viable until the end of your use year, but cannot be banked.

Hopefully, you'll be able to make a reservation at a DVC reort soon! You can still get on the wait list for a possible points reservation over Thanksgiving.

Good luck!

My only suggestion is to get on all the waitlists for your Thanksgiving vacation... As for getting the All Stars (or any other) resort for a good price go over to www.mousesavers.com

The points you used for Disneyland cannot be returned to your regular points, they'll go into a holding account like Doc said... maybe you can use those points to stay at a deluxe/mod over your Thanksgiving holiday? Just an idea...

Actually, I think there are quite a few things you can get being a DVC member even if you're not staying on points. I believe you are still entitled to most if not all of the discounts listed on the member site, you should just show your ID. You will likely not get the 10% UMP but the restaurant and golf discounts should apply. While I've heard a couple of people assume you had to be staying on points to ge them, I've seen and heard nothing that backs that up in any way. You may want to drop by one of the DVC resorts and get a copy of the perk info that they hand out just to have a handy reference. I also frequently print out the pages that apply to us. The valet parking at DVC resorts was already mentione. Make sure you take your membership card.

Thanks for all the info. I made the reservation through Disney @ 79.00 a night. How do I change it to get the mousesaver rate?

Thanks again.

To change your reservation, check out www.mousesavers.com for the particular code or discount name & then call disney central reservations, give them the info & get the rate... have them either convert your current reservation, or cancel the old & make a new one...

But, be sure to check out the possibility of getting on the waitlists and/or using those Disneyland points for moderate or deluxe resorts on site
