Well, back to what the original poster was getting at, I'd be more than willing to send in a letter asking for a discounted AP rate. I believe the question wasn't whether you like DVC or WDW, but rather, would you like to see a discount. I agree with ALL the posters that said YEA, SURE, Bring It On. I heard a rally call. Now if some DVC'rs do not want to join in the rally call, that's alright with me. I'll put a notation in my letter to extend any potential perks to the people who really wanted them. ;) I wouldn't mind if Disney just capped the AP rate right where it's at for the duration of my DVC ownership. At the rate those park prices are going, I'd have to sell DVC to get into the park. :p

But there is a different side to the rally call...

1) Will not getting discounts result in more people feeling Disney is unresponsive and further feelings of dissatisfaction - harming Disney as a company? I'm not interested in participating in a rally if Disney will be harmed. I have a vested interest in Disney remaining viable - both as a DVC owner and as a shareholder (my big 12 shares).

2) Will getting discounts result in additional profitabity for Disney (as some people feel) or will discounts in fact impact the bottom line negatively (as others, including myself feel)? Disney cannot afford to decrease profitability. And, once again, I have a vested interest in Disney being a viable company.

If people feel strongly about this as individuals, they can certainly write Disney and let them know. But everyone should do their best to see all sides of the issue - so that they do understand that there are, in fact, many sides.

I would really, sincerely hope that Disney makes data driven decisions about this - data mining the DVC membership spending habits and park attendence to determine if additional discounts would indeed add or subtract from profitability and take a long term stance on the issue (once you give a perk, its hard to take it away - and will Disney need DVC discounts ten years from now?).

(once you give a perk, its hard to take it away - and will Disney need DVC discounts ten years from now?).

DVC hasn't had a problem taking away perks thus far...

And look at the discontent it has sowed.......still say they haven't had any problems taking away perks? Seems to me this board is full of people who think there is a problem when they remove perks.

It appears to me that Disney is better off not giving perks at all to DVC members, rather than to annoy them when those perks are removed. (Better yet would be to only give perks that would be good for the entire term of the lease - which requires a 40 year committment and foresight)
