Member Ap's expiration?

I recently upgraded my 7 day base tickets to AP's using the DVC discount and was told that they would expire on the date that I purchased the original tickets. For some reason, I always thought AP's expired on the date of first use of the original tickets. Does anyone know which date is correct? Thanks!!

If you purchase an AP voucher, then activate it at a later date, that date then becomes the date of expiration. Perhaps that is what you are thinking of...

Thanks-I was hoping to get two more trips out of the AP's-but at least we can get one more in before they expire...

They should expire a year from the date you first used your ticket, not the dat you purchased that original ticket.

If your 7 day tickets were unused then your AP would start the day you used it. If you have used your 7 day tickets, then the day you used them first would be your start date. Many folks don't realize this. Most folks who upgrade their tickets after they first use them often will do it during that trip. It should not be based on when you purchased your 7 day tickets if they are unused. If that was the case, my AP voucher that I bought 3 years ago would be dead now.

This is correct.

If you buy a new annual pass at the gate, or exchange a voucher for an AP, as soon as you buy/exchange it, that date becomes the anniversary date of your pass.

If you buy a Magic Your Way ticket and use that to upgrade towards an annual pass, the first date you used the Magic Your Way ticket becomes your anniversary date of your Annual Pass.

If you renew your annual pass at the discounted annual pass price, then your anniversary date stays the same, regardless of when you bought the renewal or when you first use your renewal.

If you bought the AP tickets down at Disney they are active as soon as you purchased them. Sorry.

I don't understand what this means.

You bought tix in Dec '08, you used them in April '09 (meaning they didn't expire in December '08, right?).

How did you just upgrade them to an AP? Are you at the parks now?



I re-read your OP...does your new AP say it expires in December? If so, since it was upgraded from tickets not used until April, according to the info posted on the Theme Parks boards by Cheshire_Figment (CM working with tix and a moderator here), the expiration date should be the date you first USED the tickets. If the AP has an expiration date of December, someone goofed, and you need it to be fixed.
