Day 5 Magic Kingdom

Whoever said what a difference a day makes was right on the money. We get up this morning to head to the Magic Kingdom and it was freezing, not that we were complaining just a happy observation. Much welcome relieve from the terrible heat and humidity that we had been experiencing.

We made it to the Magic Kingdom without a hitch and decided to take the boat over because the line to the monorail was extremely long and I didn’t want to start the day having to push Megan up the hill. I love taking the boat over and watching the castle come into sight. You also get a great view of Grand Floridian as well. Just some added information. DH was going today to see the orignal castle in Germany that Cinderella’s castle is based on. Can’t wait to see the pictures of that.

We walk into Main Street and see characters everywhere. we have already abandoned the idea of trying to get autographs outside of our character meals because it just wasn’t working out for us this year, and after I had spent so much time this summer making a nice book but maybe another time. But we did want pictures with as many characters as we could find. A very helpful CM saw Megan and told us to come with him and he took us around to see all the different characters that were our on the square. He took us back to where the characters come and go as well and we were able to see even more. The highlight was that we have a picture with all of use and all three of the Country Bears together. We make it past Main Street just in time for the next showing of Cinderella’s Surprise Celebration. we saw this last year but it is a cute show so we stayed around again. Afterward we visited with several of the characters. The characters really liked playing with Pal Mickey. I think it was Baloo tried to take him.

AFter CSS we went to see the new Goofy show. DGD really likes Goofy so we thought he would like this show. We got in right before it started so we didn’t get a seat down front but we could still enjoy the music just didn’t get to see the characters up close. When that was over it was time to head over to the Crystal Palace for lunch with Pooh. We really enjoyed our lunch with Pooh last year at Tony’s so we weren’t sure what to expect this year. We weren’t disappointed. We got there early for our reservation time and they had a place for us so we were seated early. Sometimes it pays to be early. We saw Eeyore and Piglet first. I am really coming to like Piglet a lot. Then Tigger and Pooh last. Last year Megan was amazed that her hero was there in front of her and not on TV. This year I guess it was old hat. Tigger did give her a pin for her laynard. DGD has decided this year that Tigger is his favorite and had to have his picture taken with him. He thinks that everything you need to know about life you can learn from Pooh and friends. I told him he needs to write a book.

Then it was off to ride some rides. We had seen the parade last year so we decided to use that time to ride rides when they weren’t so crowded. We rode It’s a Small World first. This is DGM’s favorite ride and Megan seems to enjoy it as well. Then Peter Pan. DGP don’t ride this ride it goes to fast for them and DGM doesn’t like her feet off the ground. Megan really likes it and her Pooh shirt glowed in the dark. This year we rode Snow white for the first time and it was okay would have rather been able to ride Pooh but the line for it was over an hour. We don’t do lines and they didn’t like our guest assistance card. We found at MK they didn’t honor it as well as other parks.

By this time it is late in the afternoon and everyone is getting a little tired so we start heading back to the monorail ride. We stop on Main Street so I can go into some shops but dH doesn’t stand outside and hold my bags. While I was shopping they enjoyed the street entertainers. The group that plays the saxaphones the one that did all the talking looked like Megan’s dentist. I wonder if he has a brother. We rode the monorail back to the parking lot.

We dropped everyone off at the house and rested for a little while and then back to dTD. DH wanted a chocolate sundae at Giradalli’s chocolate shop. Of course we dropped what was left of our fortune at world of Disney before we left.

Back home and getting ready for one of our favorite parks-Animal Kingdom.

I hope you don't mind me asking but we are taking our to-be-7year-old next week for her birthday. She is non-verbal, non-mobile and has a problem with her sight and hearing. Why didn't the Pooh Bear ride like your Guest Assistance Card? Was Megan in a wheelchair or stroller? What did you have specifically on the card... what type of assistance?
:o)

Megan is in a wheelchair. Make sure when you go to guest services and request a card that you are specific in what your needs are. My DH got ours this year and I don't know what he told them. Last year they were good about letting us use the Fastpass lanes and things like that. This year some would and the Pooh ride which we really wanted to ride wouldn't. Animal Kingdom is the best park at helping you out and letting you use other entrances and things. I think that is why we enjoy that park the most is because they are the most helpful. Magic Kingdom is probably the least helpful.

I'm enjoying your trip reports. I'm sorry you weren't able to ride Pooh this time. I'm looking forward to hearing about your day at Animal Kingdom.
