Hello all!
We just watched the new cartoon Tangled Before Ever After and it has me thinking about character interactions. Do you think Rapunzel and Flynn (we have a Trattoria ADR) will be up on the storyline from the new show too?

Of course Rapunzel will be able to talk about a cartoon where she is the "star." Flynn will also know what Rapunzel has been up to as they do chat a lot. ;)

It was my understanding that all characters exist in a moment in time approximately during or at the end of their original feature film and ignore events of sequels TV shows etc. Not sure if this is still the case though

I would honestly be surprised if they were not. I was on the Disney Magic 2/22 and when meeting Belle asked her if she had read anything good lately and she specifically asked me if I'd read Romeo and Juliet. If you've seen the brand new movie, you'd know why she specifically mentioned that. (Just to reiterate, this was BEFORE the new movie release by almost a month, so Belle's friend had DEFINITELY been doing her homework to be up to date for the movie! But while it kind of caught me off guard she would mention a specific title at the time, it makes perfect sense now!)

While characters will not really cross over into another's universe (i.e.: They don't exist in Once Upon A Time world), the face character DO pretty much have to be up to date with everything canon about their story - including prequels, sequels, and reboots.

Nope, not at all correct.
We have talked to Ariel about her daughter every trip. She and DGD share a name.
I believe all the characters are aware of and know about their sequels

They know all about their sequels. Anastasia (Cinderella's Step sister) discussed her boyfriend from Cinderella II with my son. I don't think they characters themselves will mention the sequels, but if a guest mentions them, they are up to date and know what to say.

Another example would be Tink. She's aware of all the characters in her various movies. Both Peter Pan and the Fairy movies. She's even had Periwinkle meeting with her several years ago. That character was from a sequel.

There are updated, official "Notes/Binders" in every character green room and breakrooms. They contain specific character info so that whoever is going onstage knows the latest and most up-to-date info.

There are notes on mannerisms, standard moves, and key phrases the character may be most likely to utter. There are even "signatures" so the character can practice their penmanship. ;)

I still like my above reply better. ;)

Yep! :)

When I saw BATB yesterday, my jaw dropped when Belle mentioned "two lovers in fair Verona"! I knew they get info once it's out there, but I was totally impressed (granted after the fact) with how well-studied Belle's friend was on the Magic! At the time I just chalked it up to her picking a story that would have been around at her time, but now I know better! There was a specific reason she mentioned it!

I have a friend who is very good friends with Stitch and she not only had to know about the original film, but also the sequels and the TV series. So like PP mentioned, they aren't required to have knowledge about anything outside the Disney universe, they will probably have some general information about anything else the character is in.

I appreciate the replies! My little 5 year old is quite the interrogator and I know she's going to have tons of new questions for Rapunzel

Good point! We were fairies at the Halloween party last year and Think had an amazing conversation with my little one who was Periwinkle
