Meeting place at MCO

I know someone here can help me.

My mom just got notification today that her flight's changed and now gets in about 15 minutes before ours. She's never been to MCO before. She is flying AA from LA and we're flying Song from NY. We're renting a car from National (this is beginning to sound like a story problem...a northbound train ....). Anyway, where is an easily recognizable place for her to meet us? I remember that there is a bench by the Disney store with Snow White on it. Is that in a central place? Could it be gone? Is there a better place? Is there only one National desk where she could meet us? I'm just so afraid our cell phones won't work or we'll be otherwise incommunicato. Thanks in advance!

Between terminal A and terminal B, there is an customer service/information desk. You can't miss it, and it is centrally located. That's where I had my mom meet me when we met in Orlando a while back. Plus, if she can't locate you, she's right there where she can get some help to find you.

If you are both checking bags, you might want to consider just letting her go get her bags and waiting outside AA bagage claim. You can get your bags, get the car and drive around to pick-up your mom at AA.

A further refinement on this is if there is more that one person in your party, for you to go get the car while your spouse/whatever waits for the bags. You drive around to pick up the rest of your party right at the curb (rather than hauling your bags over to the garage) and then drive around again to AA.

15 min really isnt that much time. The bench was still across from the disney store when I was there last Oct. If she goes beyond the disney store there is a food court a short distance down the hall.

I would agree though since she must get her luggage first have her meet you at the luggage area. Hers should still be showing when you get off your plane.

If she does go to the food court STAY AWAY FROM THE KRISPY CREME counter :rotfl: They cost me $9.00 for a dozen. OUCH OK what really hurt was they were still warm and I had to share :sad2:

:rotfl: Thanks for the good advice!

Mom says she never checks baggage. She and my DH will probably do laundry twice in a week. What is wrong with these people? I didn't schedule in laundry time!

I looked on the Orlando airport website (the picture is teensy - even with the magnifier) and I can see we get in at opposite sides of the terminal. I think I may have her get off the tram, walk into the main terminal and then just stand there. I think those are the clearest directions I can give her.

She's the type who'll be waving and yelling "YOOOOOHOOOOO" across a crowded terminal. (Poor mortified DH)

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Where is this Orlando Airport website? We have family flying in to meet us at the airport also.

Hi Simba's Mom,
Check out: http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/ops/term.htm

Like I said, the map is teensy but at least it tells you which airlines get in where, which was very helpful.

We've decided to have mom go to the food court and sit down. Then we'll find her there. I think she'll feel less bored sitting with a cup of coffee instead of standing somewhere waiting.

Your flight, or your Mom's may be delayed. Make sure she has your flight information so she can check the board and see if you're delayed. You might have her call you just before they tell passenger to turn off their cell phones. You'll have a good idea if she's going to be delayed.
