meet the newest member of our family! (mini horse!)

Hmmmm, I hope this picture shows up...I am not so good at posting pics!

This is Bruno. He is 8 hands high (32 inches, at the base of his mane) and 6 years old. He is sweet as pie, like a big dog... follows us around. We are really happy with him.

here is a picture of my husband body clipping him, just so you can get an idea of how teeny he is. And he is not even THAT teeny...there are even smaller minis out there.

Bruno is such a cutie. My in-laws have been thinking of getting a mini for a while now. The have 4 horses and thought they might get 2 mini's.

Anyone else have minis? We body clipped him because it is TOO HOT here in SoFla for all that hair. We have a little mini blanket for him for when it gets under 55 degrees.

He only eats a handful of pellets every day, and grazes all day. He has a stall where his water is, and can go in and out at will, we just leave the door open. Every evening, we put him out in our front pasture, for a change of scenery. Plus the grass out there is not as rich, so it gives him a little break.

Next to his paddocks are two retired show horses that my neighbor boards. They love him, hang their heads over the fence and nibble on him. It's really cute to see.

Minnie-They are cute to have around. Don't really "serve a purpose" since they can't really be ridden. This little guy has been trained to pull a cart, but we aren't going to do that with him.

I grew up with big horses, but we are still renovating our house and did not want to commit to a big horse/big feed bills/big vet bills, LOL. I missed having a horse, though, so this satisfies me for now!

I know that is a lot of trouble to go to so I don't blame anyone if they don't look at the second pic, but just in case someone out there is just DYING to see another picture of him, that's how to do it!

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks! I am like a proud parent..I carry pictures around of him and show anyone who I run into! My favorite is of Bruno and my chihuahua...she does NOT know what to make of him, has no idea what he "is." She is always looking at him out of the side of her eyes, like she doesn't want to make eye contact.

I wish I had time to stop and take a picture for you of the people about 20 miles from us who have a mini almost the same exact coloring as yours and...

a mini donkey as it's friend

They are the CUTEST pair of critters I've ever seen

So maybe yours will need a friend eventually?
