Mediterranean Excursions

We were looking at Boat ride to Zingaro Park in Palermo
Cinque Terre fromLa Spezia
and either Moon Valley or Panaramic tour of La Maddalena and also the train ride.

Many thanks for the information.

Hey all!
I am just finally working on deciding our excursions. They are so pricey! The cruise itself is a lot of money and adding this to our total...

Anyway, is anyone planning to just leave the ship and look around at any of these places?
We just found out we are moving to Belgium this summer, so we will get to see a lot of Europe over the next few years. I'm just wondering what stuff we should do at this point.

Thanks!

Price thats why i went direct its better for me in the UK pay in Euros otherwise its to DCL in dollars ( albeit rate good) and then into Euros so DCL protect themselves. With four in the familiy private tours are cheaper.

Hi all, last night was the booking frenzy for the excursions. Palo ressies seemed to crash, so many of us didn't get what we wanted. We're running out the door to see the cycling in Long Beach today for the Tour of California, so I'll post details later about what I've found out. Kelly

Hello all,
Am pondering what to do in Rome.

Initally, I was planning to get the train in from port and was hoping to see the main site's. I am wonedring about using a tour guide as concerned about getting lost and not speaking the lanuage. I am travelling alone with my 12 y/o son.

I have had a quote of 150 E for a tour including;
Morning: meet at San Pietro Station for a tour/walk around the St Peter's Square/museums/basilica, time permitting.
Lunch
Afternoon: Colosseum (Roman Forum also? you would need at least an hour in the Forum), Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and finish at the Spanish Steps.

This would give us a break in the middle to get lunch and have a quick look at shops.

I also look at disney ULTIMATE ROME EXPERIENCE that Visit St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City before reveling in a sightseeing tour of Renaissance Rome. Then, enjoy some free time to experience the "Eternal City" at your very own pace.
I think this covers all i want to see apart from the spanish steps and includes a couple of hours to shop. This is $300.

Price wise there is not a huge different as DCL inclues lunch and tranposrt.

I'm now not sure what to do now as in some ways i wonder if i'm trying to fit to much in and should do one tour ( which would cost 85E) and give us some more flexibility to stop and get coffee/ice cream( esp as its going to be very hot and the tour will involve a lot of walking) or to get the disney one as at least we can relax on the coach ( which i assume will be air conditoned.)

Final question- for those of you who have done Rome do you know how far the Spanish Step are from the Trevi Fountain. Was thinking that if i did the DCL could we fit in seeing the fountain in the shopping break.

any advie wold be great- I want my son and i to enjoy the day and not end up totally hassled.

Thanks for your help

I recall it took us 15 minutes.

Those pictures were great . . . really made me want to be there . . . I know my girls are going to love the "living statues" on Las Ramblas, so I will make sure to have plenty of coins in my pocket as we "ramble."

Thanks Ruth for the information.

Unless I totally didn't notice before, the shore excursions have changed. Another one was added: private Vehicle at many of the ports where you can hire a guide too.

Does anyone have the name & e-mail or websites of some transportation companies (Minivans or Vans) for Barcelona?

We are a family of 6 & need to get to & from airport!:grouphug:

Just booked transportation to & from DLP & airports about 90 Euro's each way or 15 Euro's per person!:cool1: Such a deal!

Wow I will have to check out the Web site for availability & pricing.

Seems to be very strange the inconsistency of DCL regarding giving out details of the excursions. Some people are managing to get the information they want others, like myself just get the answer you have to wait until 90 day mark.
