Medicines- OTC & other-- do I need to take the original packaging?

For airport security reasons? I'd like to consolidate some things in smaller, less bulky bottles or ziplocks.

But I was wondering if security would have a problem with unmarked tablets in unmarked packaging.

Thanks!

I always put my meds in a container that has the days of the week on each compartment and carry them on the plane with me. I've never had a problem with security. However- if you're a diabetic and have a glucose machine, it has to have a brand name on it. I use a DEX machine- and it's printed right on the lid. They've never asked me to take it out (although they have doubled checked my puffer for asthma!) but i suspect they see so much of these thigns that they're getting use to them and recognize them pretty easily. Don't worry about having them in their original packaging. You should be fine.

I've used the pill organizers with no problem, I asked them at security one time if that was OK and they said yes. If you are flying International, I would take the containers.

Just to be one the safe side, I leave my prescription meds in their bottles. We also usually have a bunch of "professional samples" of things like decongestants which are not OTC, but are individually packaged, and I usually leave them in their packaging. It does make things a little bulkier, but I've done it both ways (original bottles vs. pill containers), and with multiple meds. and multiple people, it's been less trouble to keep the meds. in their bottles.

Maybe my reasoning is flawed, but I figure that IF there was a question about a drug, better to have the lable in hand. Also, if something were to happen to one of my meds., I might be more likely to be able to get it filled somewhere (even if it meant going to an ER or something to get a new RX written) if I have "proof" of the med.

That's why I leave my prescription drugs in their original containers, too. It has the pharmacy, RX number and doctor's name on it as well as the strength and name of the med. If something happened, it would sure be a lot easier for emergency personnel to know what was what with me as well as easier to replace it should that be necessary.

Best wishes -
