Just to be one the safe side, I leave my prescription meds in their bottles. We also usually have a bunch of "professional samples" of things like decongestants which are not OTC, but are individually packaged, and I usually leave them in their packaging. It does make things a little bulkier, but I've done it both ways (original bottles vs. pill containers), and with multiple meds. and multiple people, it's been less trouble to keep the meds. in their bottles.
Maybe my reasoning is flawed, but I figure that IF there was a question about a drug, better to have the lable in hand. Also, if something were to happen to one of my meds., I might be more likely to be able to get it filled somewhere (even if it meant going to an ER or something to get a new RX written) if I have "proof" of the med.
