My dd takes medication that needs refrigeration. I asked the CM about this and he said that the hotel will provide a small refrigerator for us. Has anyone had this before? Is it just in the room (value resort) or do we have to ask for it when we arrive?

Be sure it is noted on your reservation. I know the values don't come with refrigerators, so I do not think it will be in your room before you arrive as they won't know your room assignment until you check in. I would ask them about it at check in.

You might want to post this question also over on the disabilities board. The people over there will have had lots more experience with the medical refrigerator.

But yes, the fridge will be free and it can either be a normal dorm size or a smaller fridge that will only hold the meds. Make sure the fridge is noted on your reservation and mention it again at check in. If it's not in your room when you arrive, simply call the front desk to have it delivered.

I'm diabetic... have been for years. I've also been going to WDW for years. Just tell them, when you make your reservations, to note that you will need a refrigerator for medications, and you should have no problems at all... I never have !

My daughter was on medication in December 06 when we stayed at CBR and I called at the last minute to ask if it was possible. They noted the reservation and had one in our room when we returned. It was a small dorm-sized one that was also nice to put bottled water in for the next day at the park or milk we picked up from the quick mart to have breakfast in the room.

I stayed at Pop last May- and originally DH(who is diabetic) was on the reservation culdn't come. I took my mom. I called CRO-they knew this; and yet when we checked in the fridge was in the room. It was a reg. small sixe fridge-perfect. We had always stayed Deluxe prior and I have to say I think it was the same size. So, we're going again in May; they have noted that we need a fridge for med. reasons on the reservations-and it'll be there waiting for you. No worries.

Just a word of advice: We had requested it for my dad's insulin when we made reservations for our trip back in October. No problem, although we did have to call and ask them to bring it because it wasn't in the room when we checked in. Not a problem. Well, the day we checked out, I just happened to look at our bill and saw that we had a $10 a day charge for that little thing. We told them upon checkout that it was medically necessary and showed them the prescriptions. No problem, all wiped off.
So just check when you leave. It wasn't a biggie, but still ........

We've stayed at POP twice. Each time requested a frig for medical purposes on the reservation. Also mentioned it again at check-in. Neither time was it in the room. The first trip I had to call twice. First called the front desk. No frig hours later. So then I called mousekeeping and they delivered one promptly. Next trip, again no frig in the room so I call mousekeeping and got one. No charge ever appeared on the bill.

We've gone down there several times with my mom who is also diabetic. Out of all the times we've asked for it, for medical reasons, there has only been one time that it showed up on our bill on the last day. Like you, we went down, explained again that it was for medical reasons, and they took it off with no problem. I had my mom's insulin with me to show them, but they said they didn't even need to see it.
