One of my dd's has battled constipation for a couple of years now (really it began when she was three and started "withholding"--what a nightmare). We've tried everything, prune juice, raisins, whole wheat bread, etc. It was not enough to get her to go. Her pediatrician put her on miralax which does definitely get her to go. Basically it retains the water in the stool (I think) and it just slides right out of her (sorry!
). But I don't want her on this indefinitely. I went to the health food store today and they recommended something called primadophilus. They said it puts the good bacteria back into the intestines and is tasteless so I can put it in her juice. Okay, so now the question; has anyone out there had any experience with this? How well did it work?
Just thought I would put this out there as so many people read this board, hopefully someone can give me some info! thanks!!!
