Has anyone had any experience with Disney making accommodations for a medical condition? I'm hypoglycemic, which is in the family of diabetes and have to make sure I eat like a snack every 2-3 hours. Has anyone had hypoglycemia or diabetes accommodated for on their CP? Or been in a similar situation?

I'm hypoglycemic too, but didn't fill out an accommodation form for it last time. What I did was keep those glucose tablets on me and informed my managers of my condition. Then if my sugar started to get low, I'd slip in the back, take a tablet, and then go back to work. It worked out perfectly fine for me, but everyone is different.

Disney is great about accommodating. Depending on where you work, it may not be a big deal. In attractions, you get a break roughly every 2 hours. So that is the perfect time for you to have a snack. In entertainment the most we could be on set at a time was 45 minutes. I don't know about other departments (or the attendants). If you're an attendant you could easily grab a snack when you take your characters backstage.

I have diabetes and have problems with hypos, particularly in the heat. I currently work at a themepark in the midwest and what I do is keep my meter in my pocket and glucose tabs in my purse (which stays in the panel room). This way I can quickly test and treat. I had to do it the other day and was able to do so without interrupting my ride.

I remember filling out a health questionairre at check in and actually being asked about something I put down (tendinitis). They wanted to make sure that my job wouldn't cause problems. Just let your area know and they will work something out.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! I posted this because 2 years ago I applied for the college program and did the E-Presentation. I got in for Merchandise at the time. Around the time I received my acceptance I was diagnosed with Hypoglycemia and was told by the woman who interviewed me over the phone that it could not be accommodated. However, I was assured by someone else on my campus that this was not necessarily the case. I'm going to graduate at the end of this year and I would love to go for the program after graduation. Thanks again!
