We will be arriving at MCO on Saturday, Nov. 15 just after 3pm. I have a minivan reserved, but I'm reconsidering using Mears shuttle/bus service instead.

We used Mears last time we were at WDW 3 years ago and it seemed to work out fine from what I remember. Could anyone, who has recently used Mears tell me how much time to allow for getting from MCO to the Poly? That will be the deciding factor as we have 6:15 dinner reservations at Alfredo's that night.

Thanks!

Worst case scenario:

Arrive at luggage turnstyle 3:20
Luggage arrives 3:30
Get to Mears desk 3:40
Long line for vans and buses, finally leave MCO about 4:00.
Last to be dropped off after 5 stops, arrive at Poly about 6:30

Long check-in line at Poly - Finally ready to go to Epcot at 7:30.
Arrive at Epcot at 8:00.

Best scenario:

Arrive at luggage turnstyle 3:20
Luggage already there
Get directly on Mears van and leave MCO - 3:30
Dropped off first - 4:15
Don't need to check in or short check in line
Ready to head to Epcot at 5:00
Arrive at Epcot at 5:30

I would keep the rental van or hire a towncar service.

For a family of 4 or more, I suggest forget both and grab a cab. Directly to Poly for around $85 round trip + tip. That is thru Yellow cab ( at their quoted round trip fare).

No waiting, no frills, no bs--just a quick ride straight from point A to point B.

What could be better.

Is there anyone out there who WOULD recommend Mears? There's a long line for Mears? And is it over priced? Does it ever sell out and leave people stranded at MCO? I'm planning on taking Mears (I assume I did the past years, but was too young to remember). (Traveling will only be 3 adults) If not recommending it, please suggest something else. Thanks! I will never forget the last trip we took on Mears. At our 4th or 5th stop on the way to the airport, a family of 4 sick kids and mom got on. The van seemed full to me, but they were shoehorned onboard. All the kids were under the age of 5 and all were running a fever. I have never seen so many carseats, folding playpens, and strollers in my life! I know we were there for 30 min as the poor driver had to totally unpack the van to fit all this stuff in.

All the way to the airport the mom told everyone what it was like to be a WDW with 4 sick kids. I did feel sorry for her, but I have taken a cab or rented a car on all my trips since then. Just not my idea of how to end a vacation.

I would only recommend mears if you were travelling alone to save money. You are very close to the price of a private car service with three adults. you would have your own direct car this way. Mears is around $16 a person one way. when you multiply that times three you are very close to the price of taxi or car service.

I used Mears earlier this month. It took me 1 & 1/2 hours from the time I got off of the plane to my hotel-ASMO. I did not check luggage so no waiting for that. We stopped at 2 other hotels before the ASMO. Mears is ok for 2 or less people but a towncar isn't much more when here are more people.

I would use a towncar service. It was about $90 r/t, for the three of us from MCO to Polynesian. I would say that from the time we landed, to the time we got to the Polynesian, it was about 45 mins to an hour. THen our check-in was quite speedy. Only took about 15 minutes. I think we landed about the same time you are also. So, traffic would be about the same. Towncars are really quite addictive.
