I have been trying find a thread specific to my question, but alas, I have not. :( So, we will have the DDP during our vacation and want to know if we can share meals. Scenario, dh and I are not big eaters, would we be able to use say his 1 credit to purchase 1 meal at a table service and we share that meal? We typically share meals out anyway. Thanks! This is the first time we will be using DDP and are trying to educate ourselves. :) TIA

There are some places that do not allow splitting. Via Napoli is the big one. Everyone must use a credit there so no splitting/sharing of 1 pizza.

Regarding Via Napoli..you are able to share. I paid pop for my drink and ate some of DH entrees and apps..

Via Napoli does allow sharing/splitting if you pay out of pocket. They do not allow people to split a meal for those on the dining plan.

As PP said if you are paying out of pocked you can share/split food but on the DDP they have been the most notorious about the no splitting policy and that everyone must use a credit.

Also interesting to mention the first (and only time) we have done the DDP we were specifically told we could not split/share at 50s Prime Time. I had ordered the best of platter and offered my friend a piece of it since he was just a long for the day and not eating with us but the waitress came over and said he was not allowed to eat anything unless he paid for it. Definitely weird and he still picked off my plate when they weren't looking but am just saying it does happen even at Disney owned restaurants.

We were on the DxDP
I paid out of pocket for my drink
Ate 2 pieces of DH pizza
@ Via Napoli
The DxDP is not free
No restaurant will tell me I cannot eat some of my DH pizza...
I'm not cheap
Im not carrying leftovers around in epcot

Yes the Deluxe Dinning plan isn't free but a restaurant can tell you that you can not share/split. It is well known that Via Napoli will removed 2 credits if you share a pizza so it just seems that you were very lucky that it didn't happen.

Congratulations. You're an exception.

How does the fact that DxDP is not free come into play? Utilizing Free Dining doesn't have any impact on whether or not you can share at a particular restaurant.

Our family of 4 shared 2 entrees here and didn't have any issues. We were paying OOP but did have free dining that trip. I never heard of 50's Prime Time having an issue with sharing. Maybe just another Disney inconsistency?;)

Can we enter and sit as a table of 4 and order 2 pizzas and only two people eat, and take the leftovers out with us? It just seems like a lot of food if we were to all order our own pizza. Or all order a pizza and save two for later?

The individual pizzas, which are what is required on the DDP, aren't that big. Not sharing size at all.

If you paid out of pocket they don't care if you split/share.

50s Prime Time seems to have been a fluke but the waitress was very adiment that our friend could not eat off our plate. In the end it wasn't that big of a deal and looking back maybe it was apart of the schtick and she wasn't being honest. Always hard to tell at 50s

That was my first thought when you posted it originally.

We've never had a problem sharing at 50PT, and plan to do it this coming Monday night.

We are so easy going that it wasn't even on our radar to ask for clarification. Same thing happened at Palo on DCL. The waitress was trying to play with us and said she regretted to inform us they were out of the signature souffle and I just said oh well that's no biggie. She said I was the first person who didn't throw a fit over that joke!

A great couples place to share/split is the sci-fi cafe where you sit side by side watching the 'drive-in'. They have easily sharable food like sandwiches and burgers (cut in half) or if you want something messy you can just ask for and extra plate. The fun part though is that you can get a really good milkshake to share with your lunch and still spit a dessert after.
