Ok I was just pricing things on the disney.com for our trip in Dec. They are doing 6 night/7 days at the moderate resort for $1,800. Great, that is with a 5 day ticket. When I added the meal plan it cost $700 more for a family of 4 !!!! :sad2:
Exactly how much is the plan per person for adults and kids under 10. Also I read somewhere that ppl are booking trips with a FREE meal plan??? What deal is that and how can I get????

I would really appreaite any help as when we went last year there was no such thing as this meal plan! Thanks in advance! :cheer2:

The free meal plan was a promo that had to be booked by July 4th and checked into hotel by 10/3 :sad2:
The #'s you added sound about right - I think it is 35 per adult per day and want to say about 24 per child 3-10 per day. I checked out pricing for food at WDW and looked at menu's at allearsnet.com to see if it was a good deal and when I priced out burgers and fries for a week and breakfast and snacks it came to about the price of the dining plan. So figure for that 700 you are getting a sit down meal - appetizer, entree, dessert, and beverage each plus a counter srv meal and snack every day you will eat better, have more options and won't have to worry about the cost. I ususally look at a menu and go okay not getting the filet because at 30 bucks a plate too much, I'll get the chicken :sad2: How many times have you not ordered a dessert for the same reason. You can split meals, share food at CS, and stretch the meal plan to cover some of breakfast too. I saw someone on here that booked a 9:30 - 10:00 am breakfast had a snack around lunch time and counter service for supper or cs for breakfast, snack at lunch, and sit down supper. Good luck and have a great trip

Thanks so much for the info. Some had told me that the meal plan for the kids was like $10 not $24. Thanks again!

6 nights X $35 per day would be $210 per adult
6 nights X $10 would be $60 per child

You didn't say how old your kids are but if one is considered an adult your 6 day total could be $210 X 3 ($630) + 60 or $690.

I am guessing that one of your children is 10 or over. Disney considers 10 and over an adult as far as the meal plan is concerned.

That adds up correctly. $35 for the 3 adults and $10 for 1 child = $115 per day. Multiply that by 6 nights and it equals $690

If you plan on doing nice TS meals with expensive entrees, that it is well worth it. If you usually eat on the go with low cost meals, then it may not be worth it.

Just to give you an idea of the savings, some people have posted that the receipts for 2 adults and 1 child for 7 nights equaled about $1100.

Since your 10+ will eat as an adult, figure the savings would be even more.

Nope my kids are 5 & 7 so the amount didn't work out right. I think instead of doing it online I am going to call. The thing is we don't even need that many tickets, we already have tickets for me, dh and one child for 2 days, so we were going to buy a 3 day pass for one ds and a day pass for each of us. I have to do the math and see if it is cheaper for me to get the military room rate at Caribean Beach, plus just the tickets we really need, kwim?

I agree I heard it was $10 for kids
So at that price the total would be $540 so it's not that far off. I am going to call and check on prices instead, online booking makes me nervous

Thanks for all of your replies!

Hi, I just booked our DW vacation for November and I also have tickets left over from last year. They told me I can buy any type of ticket - example: we are staying at DW for 11 nights, but are only getting 3 day park tickets. Your park tickets do not have to be same amount of days as your vacation days. Only the dining plan has to be for as long as your reservation ie: 7 nights = 7 dining plan days. Hope that helps!

I think that is what we will end up doing to save $$, however I can't do that option online as I only need one 3 day pass and 3 one day passes, kwim? I think I need to ask on the phone for prices.
